Orange….. should match about 99.99% of all kitchens

    • +6

My 1970s kitchen constitutes part of your 0.01%.

  • +20

Ah yes the traditional Kyoto aesthetic of an Orange toaster.

    • +10

Its the subbeam euro-japan-retro-future edition. The gang down at marketing tells me those key words are so hot right now.

  • +3

$50 with shipping. Not a bad deal I think it you need one.

but why orange? the designer should get fired.

    • Why so serious !

  • +7

To be fair, Kyoto is often associated with Orange as it is the color of their most famous attractions, the gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine. Not sure if I would want the same color for my toaster though!

  • +2

What a hyped-up load of rubbish for the description. After all, a toaster is a toaster for toasting bread (etc), not to make some dedication to a Japanese city.

      Lmao relax champ

  • +14

I like the orange. Could not care if it matched my kitchen

    • +1

I'm with you, who cares. Plenty of people don't leave the toaster sitting out on the bench either.

  • Jetstar (or Ansett) colour matching?

    • +3

      Obviously matching Ozbargain colour

  • But the toaster is powered by coal power. /s

  • +1

Nothing wrong with the current toaster but why not… lol

  • hmmm i bought 10 but don't own a kitchen

    • Kitchens are over rated anyway , nah that's not true . I'd be lost without mine and that orange toaster, four slices at the same time , oh yeah 👍

    • You can toast the whole loaf in one go

    • Run an extension cord from your neighbours house to the park BBQ and set them up there.

  • Thanks OP - argh I also really want the kettle for this but missed out in JB.. hopefully someone eventually puts in on sale too!

  • +1

Gotta love how Japanese inspired product was designed in Australia 🤣

    • +1

To be fair, it would be weird to say, “Australian inspired product was designed in Australia”

So it kind of makes sense.

    • +2

      Makes perfect sense really

      adjective: inspired
of extraordinary quality, as if arising from some external creative impulse.

  • +3

That RRP is a good laugh

I long for a toaster that will toast one slice of toast without using twice the amount of power that's needed.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Grabbed one for my 70’s kitchen. $25 postage to Hobart.

  • Why in the world would you buy anything else?!

  • +3

Needs a rising sun logo on it for that extra edginess

  • +1

No crumpet mode on a 200 RRP toaster? That's a no from me

    • As i like a bit of crumpet daily it’s not a hard ask ..

  • Still using an Orange Sunbeam toaster, from the 1970s that hasn't died yet.

  • why are toasters so expensive

  • not to defend this colour choice, but Kyoto City Collection is the model of the toasters and kettles, not just this colour way

  • My Sunbeam 2 slice toaster purchased at start of 2006 still going strong with almost daily usage…now needed 4 slice version for family

  • Sold out?

  • Back in stock? Managed to order

Not sure where else you’ll find a good looking 4 slice toaster for under $50

  • Interesting it's called Kyoto considering the Japanese don't use toasters haha
