Many, many years ago when Gearbest existed the Xiaomi/ZMI version of these USB flexible lights used to be posted all the time for under a dollar and while Xiaomi/ZMI no longer make them this is still a good price for the generic version.

These USB lights containing 6 LED beads, can be twisted into different positions and powered via USB. Stick them in a power bank or charger and you're good to go - they're perfect for camping. Available in the colours White, Yellow, Red, Purple, Green, Blue and Black.

The USB light is 1 per order, however using this URL you can order additional lights for US$0.87 (~A$1.28) each. The full price lights stack with cashback and can be found quickly by putting 4000147858257 in the AliExpress search bar.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

Reminds me of those Chinese girls on tiktok.

    • +3

An essential to the Chinese tiktok girl starter pack.

The DOA rate seems to be 50% and they don't care. I don't know if I'm missing something.

      • I checked all 121 reviews of this on AliExpress and the reported failure rate was 0%. It would seem that your missing the product from this seller altogether and looking at them from somewhere else where they have no quality control.

        • -2

The girls on tiktok. If you haven't seen it, don't worry.

  • Around half of my Xiaomi ones from that era are dead with little use, would hate to see how fast the even cheaper no brand ones fail

Edit: After making this comment I dug the last still sealed one I had out of storage and it was dead too, seems they might be failing with age rather than use.

    • +1

Interesting. All of mine are still working and used.

      • +1

Likewise, I have x5 and two new in pack. Just tested and all work fine and many years old. Are you sure your USB power is working and not a loose connection? Seems odd for them all to be dead.

        • -1

Or they've been twisted way too far in a bad position causing the wires to disconnect.

          • -1

@Clear: They're supposed to be twisted.

    • my no brand, free gift with buying something else still kinda works after 4 years of use for about 5 hours every night. has to be bend at an angle for it to light up, the white light diffuser crumbled, so led now exposed.

Thanks OP looks like a handy nightlight

    • +1

      Very handy indeed.

      • I think I see what you did there. If so, great advice. Merry Christmas ISP.

  • Do I need one? No
    Did I order one? Yes

    This is the Ozbargain way.

    Edit: Cost $1 for me

when I tried these a few years ago, they shorted out one of my usb ports in my computer. lesson learnt. never again

  • +1

i got one, probably from gearbest, but never really found a use for it

    • Same, mine is in a drawer somewhere

    • Only worthwhile use I ever found for them was stuck into a powerbank while camping, in the days when LED lanterns were still rubbish or expensive compared to torches they were surprisingly good at that if a little awkward. Nowadays we have excellent quality cheap lanterns like the Sofirn LT1S (highly recommended btw) so I don't take them out anymore.

    • Mine has had the very occasional/ rare times i went camping. Plugged into a powerbank.

  • I purchased a few of these back in the day, the only one I've ever really used is the one which has a switch and brightness control, all the others are just too bright…

    • +1

Didn’t they all have brightness control, my Xiaomi ones (still in use) do. Just a matter of keeping finger on button to cycle through 3 brightness levels.

      • I have one like that, all the others have no control at all, you plug them into a USB port and they light up, that's all the control you get.. I assume the ones in this deal have no control since they dont mention on/off or dimming at all…

  • +4

Ah Gearbest deals, those were the good ol days

    • +1

They were so obsessed with beating their competitors in price that they literally drove themselves into bankruptcy lol.

      • Really a shame to see that.

  • +4

These are great! I use mine in two ways.

First is for blackouts. Very easy to grab a powerbank and stick one of these in to light up a room
Second is plugged into the back of a monitor (if you have usb ports). Gives some backlighting

    • Light up a …room?!!!

  • These are great when you go traveling to be a nightlight in a airbnb or hotel room.

    • I'm a big boy and just sleep in the dark.

  • One item = says its below Paypals spend limit, have to open multiple pages to just add to cart. Website changes making it hard to order in my case.

Anyone recommend these with much longer length?

  • -2

These are basically useless and poor quality and bad for the environment

  • -1

    Literal E-Waste.

  • Got mine today, it's noticeably worse than the old ZMI ones.
I probably would recommend against buying these in future unless you have an immediate need for it.
