  • How much do you have to pay out of pocket after cash back?

  • Got mine in September - was about $130 for 2 years and got ~$125 back… only $4-5 out of pocket

I don't understand how this works. I mean, how do they make a profit?

    • +2
      1. People not realising auto resubscribe is on.
      2. people swapping from other VPN's to theirs as a lifetime customer now to Nord.
      3. getting someone on your network costs almost nothing once you have the network up and running, so the $3 or $4 they get is almost all profit for them.
      4. Cost to get a new customer with advertising is about $15-$20 per customer so this is a cheaper way to do t while still making a few $
  • Just what I'm looking for!

As someone who hasn't used cashrewards before, can someone advise if I'm doing it right? It's coming up as 88.80 (2-year plan + 3 extra months) when I click through to checkout?

    • +2

Choose gst free country. Christmas Island.
Also use credit card with no overseas surcharge

My NordVPN subscription expired just last week. Should I just use a different email to sign up at NordVPN using my same cash rewards account or is there any additional measure I need to take to ensure cashback is tracked?

    • -1

      Yes

    • Just use a different email address in NordVPN, same account in CashReward.

NordVPN till tell CashRewards that you are a new customer.

I used the CashRewards (android) app, went through the offer then paid via checkout. Came to $139.15.

Post-payment, I get sent to a splash page saying something like … "lets get you setup, download app for android"…

When clicking the button to download the app, Cashrewards gives me an error. Now I'm stuck.

Let's hope it gets tracked - will update here.

    • $149.14 USD right?

    • +3

Tracked: $114.57 cashback (CB does not include GST)

$24.58 AUD out of pocket. All sweet.

      • +1

If u chose Christmas Island as country, no tax

        • Ah, lesson learned.

        • -2

          @Bargain-er no way

  • Previous 105% deal they calculated wrong cashback and refused to correct. 🤷‍♂️ This

      2 years + 3 months extra comes to 27 months… right?

    • +1

You might not be wearing a tinfoil hat but surely you miss the point that some people just need it to watch some overseas TV and don't give damn if somebody is tracking that.

      So, what's the downvote for?

      • -1

You're still giving up a lot for very little, I don't think it's a good deal but as you said some people don't care. It's always best to have more information then needed when making a choice.

        • What s ur suggestion then?

        • what would you recommend? Security reviews seem pretty good for it

  • Nord doesn't have indian vpn server. M i right?

  • Bought and tracked

    • Where can you check if it has been tracked? And how long did it take for it to show up as tracked?

      • +1

Took like 3 hours for me. I got an email from Cashrewards

  • I keep getting told by the CR tracker to Activate even after clicking through the CR site and being signed in. Whats the go there?

  • +2

how do they monitor new customers? email?

    • +1

      Curious as well

  • I have NordVPN.
They have a server in Turkey, and I was able to use it for a few months of cheap Spotify.
When that deal died, I found out they do not have servers in India or Egypt.

I had to get an alternative (in my case, I chose Surfshark, because I've seen YT videos brought to you by Surfshark, and they sometimes support automotive creators, yada, yada)

    • Any issues with surf shark? My Nord finishes in a few months looking to change if a deal pops up

  • Get 2-year plan, get Standard US$2.99/mo (27 months), do not get NordPass or NordLocker
= US$80.73 (AU$126.50), and select tax free country. Cash back pending AU$114.57. May have to wait up to 95 days

It’s more like 90.57% cash back, which is good enough to me. But Any idea why it’s not 98%.

    • lol just put up my post before I saw yours!

    • I can only see the standard US$3.79/mo plan, do you have to do something special to get the $2.99 price?

      • +2

use the cash rewards App to enter NordVPN purchase. don’t access the NordVpn website directly.

  • I got charged AUD$126.50 (I put a 0 gst country)
The CR tracking says cashback will only be $114.57

Looks like Nordvpn added a little on the currency conversion from US$80.73 (should be about AUD$120 according to google)
Maybe CR also rounded down a few dollars to their conversion?

Still happy with the deal obviously but was expecting to pay just 2%

    • That extra bit seems like your bank of around ~2-3%? I doubt Nord charges in AUD, so probably USD with bank conversion in it… Which bank/CC curiously? Amex and CBA show the fee when you show transaction details I think.

      • Nord specifically says at checkout that it will be charged in AUD. Even choosing an Aus fee free international credit card like 28degrezs there is no option to choose USD. I was also charged $126.50 and put a 0 gst country.

    • Was 126.50 for my Amex too…

  • I like the 69% off they currently

  • +1

How long does it take to track? Purchased an hour ago and so far nothing. I have never paid for Nord before but I did have a trial back in the day? Hoping that doesn’t count as I used that email address. Nervous it won’t be tracked..

Edit: ok mine has been tracked but hasn’t been tracked at the correct amount. Paid $126.50 after selecting a 0% tax country (USA and Delaware with no sales tax). Has been tracked at $114.30. Which basically looks like they’ve incorrectly taken GST out of the tracking despite the fact I did not pay GST.

This was CR response to my incorrect cashblack claim, absolute rubbish:

We acknowledge that the affiliate partner NordVPN utilise is reporting transactions from AUD to USD at a conversion rate that is lower than you have anticipated, which is similar to bank exchange rates. Consequently, you may observe a slightly lower USD value in your myrewards for this purchase.

Unfortunately this is out of our control and it's important to note that despite the drop in sale value due to the currency exchange, the cashback value (in AUD) for these transactions remains at 98%. Also noting that GST isn't included as you have purchased from a tax-exempt country.

@tightarse can you please advise on this?

    • I purchased around lunchtime on the 18th and mine still isn't tracked… Went through the CR website, got the basic plan, have never had NordVPN and used paypal. No idea why it still isn't coming up, but starting to get concerned.

  • I did the cash rewards offer and forgot about GST and that workaround :(

I have just one question, I signed up with a new email as I currently have nordvpn. I have received an email about getting started.

When does the time period commence for the vpn under my new email?. I still have 6 months on my other email.

Can I wait until my other subscription ends then start my new one and it is still 2yrs?.

    Thanks all

    • Nordvpn has 30 days money back policy. So you just request a refund. And this offer comes up very often. You don't need to sogn up now if you still have 6 months subscription. Just wait till close to your end of subscription and see.

  • Where is everyone finding the $126.50 plan? The lowest I can see on their site is from US 3.79 per month.

    • +1

Use the Cashrewards website or app to enter NordVPN. Don’t access NordVPN site directly.

      • Thanks for the tip, price is coming up correctly when going through the app, might be my browser cache storing the old price when I went through the website
