Bought one for parents. One of the most used thing in the kitchen.
What's the diff between this and smart oven?
this is combined airfryer and smart oven together. I just figured it out.
But aren't they just the same thing? Breville sells a "smart oven" and an airfryer as 2 different products

A convection oven is basically a big air fryer, it's just semantics. Air fryers are associated with being somewhat compact.
For me, an air fryer spins as a smart oven's maximum speed and has only one fan mode and heating element, while smart ovens have multiple modes for different fan speed and heating elements depending on specs
Size was a big factor for me. The Smart Oven although has the same capacity (22L) is smaller so takes up less space.
Smart Oven Pro: 47cm (W) x 32cm (D) x 28cm (H)
Smart Oven Air Fryer: 48cm (W) x 40cm (D) x 27.8cm (H)As the Oven Pro already has a Convection fan, for me was more than enough i.e. is fan forced air!.
It has been this price for quite a while. Got one last week for $332.10 after Extra10 code applied.

can you put kettle and toaster on top or woudl it get too hot? I could put them on top of a tile to create a bit of an air gap. More wondering if it needs to vent out the top and how hot the top gets.

The breville bamboo cutting board that you redeem for free fits perfectly on the top of the smart oven. You could put your kettle and toaster on top of that.
Could you please tell me if the vents are on top or at the back? I have space to keep in my built in oven space which is faulty ATM .
I have one best purchase of my life replaced my toaster and airfryer seperate units into this
