Similar to this recent deal, except that has been marked as expired, and this offer is currently live for me. I assume it is targeted.

Similar credit was offered at the same time last year.

  • I got an Xbox Series X last year using this same deal using Amex.

  • Or $399 for the S and spend $151 more but then get the $100 off

Edit wow, $47.25 trade in value for a Halo Guardians Xbox One console…woo! /s

  • Been scratching my head to see if there is a way to use this to prepay for a few years of Office 365?

    • Not sure but this is probably significantly more cost effective.

  • This was such a pain to use last year, MS kept blocking the transaction for "fraud"

  • Is the Diablo bundle or the Forza bundle a better buy?

    • -5

Neither, anything from xblock is useless. Just get the real consoles like PS5 or switch

      • Maybe. But there’s no $100 Cashback.

I assume it was you who gave me a neg for my question?

  • What would be the cheapest way to use this deal to get a Series S and three years of Game Pass Ultimate?

    • +1

Series S plus an extra game or 2, or an extra controller?

  • Does microsoft offer work for gift card purchase?

    • Unsure. But if you want to buy an xbox, they will price match the recent JB deal.
Usually, Amex doesn’t discriminate for GCs, etc. notwithstanding T&Cs, but it’s usually explicitly excluded so ymmv.

      • How do you get them to price match?

        • Live chat on Microsoft website. If you scrutinise other recent Amex Microsoft deals in the past five years, there is some discussion about it. I price matched yday but didn’t complete the purchase (intentionally). Still thinking about it.

It’s a bit weird. You pay for it in full first, and then they refund the difference from the matched price within 5-10 days from memory.

Then the Amex credit should also come. I haven’t tried to price match the HN 10% GC credit - I doubt that would fly, but you could try.

  • +1

Just a heads up for those (like me) who made their purchase before the Boxing Day sale. I contact Microsoft on live chat this morning and they refunded the difference between my purchase price and sale price ($50). If you purchased Xbox series X, you are still eligible for AMEX credit of $100 (which I have already received).

    • I also got the price match done by Microsoft. They sent the refund separately. Surprisingly Amex did not process the cashback stating that the transaction was done one day before saving the offer to the card, although this was not the case.
It seems Microsoft transactions show up with GMT/UTC instead of AEST hence the confusion.

  • I’m experiencing payment processing error when trying to purchase using the AMEX card.

    Anyone experienced that?

    • Were you able to resolve it?

      • Nope. Still can’t get it working.

And no point trying with a different credit card - since the whole point of using the AMEX is to get the $100 Cashback.

  • This would be good if Microsoft gift card purchase actually would go through. Have tried two different cards with the offer on two different accounts and it won't go through.

Spoken to MS and they lifted whatever block they initially put on the card, and still no success.

Terrible customer experience trying to make a purchase with them.

    • Same thing - but trying to purchase the Xbox itself rather than gift cards - see my comments above.

Called Microsoft and apparently they “lifted the block” but my AMEX still won’t work - processing error.

Called AMEX and they said there’s no block on their end.
