Hi all,

Seems like a great deal on the very well reviewed Moondrop Blessing2 IEM from the fairly official ShenzhenAudio Au Store. Missed out on some used ones on eBay for $235 so excited to see them through Amazon with extended holiday returns until Jan 31. Looks to be lowest price on CamelCamelCamel.

Also looks like a bunch of other Moondrop IEMs on sale like Starfields (which I have and enjoy) for $103.52 and Katos for $170.16 and Arias for $66.63.

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

Missed out on some used ones on eBay for $235

You didn’t miss out on much 😳

Maybe, can't speak to the quality of them until they arrive but there are plenty of recent sold eBay listings from $250 up to the $400s which is CRAZY to me.

    Never heard of this brand

      Moondrop is a good brand.

Killer deal, don’t know why it’s not upvoted?

    • +2

Probably cause it was posted in the other IEM deal and whoever has any interest in IEMs would have picked it up there

      • Link to other iem deal? Kind interested on what a iem at this price gives you over an open or closed headphone.

      • Arguably a hard sell for most people when a Truthear Hexa is $96 on sale regularly and a tip change to get them fairly close to the Dusk is $10.

        • +4

Had the Hexa for a while. Found it a bit boring. Ended up buying a set of letshuoer s12 pro's and that's now my end game. Yes they are a bit more than double the price of the Hexa's. But to me they sound so much better.

@krammis76: Yeah, definitely recommend the S12s. I've got the non-pro ones and have been extremely impressed. Interested to compare them to the Blessing2s.

          • +1

@krammis76: Based on my experience with the Timeless, tip change makes it a much closer battle that I think the Hexa wins.

    • Most phones dont have headphone jacks anymore. Blame apple for starting the trend.

    • because it's almost $300 for something small.

Chi-Fi is killing the SQ industry :) I wish they get into speakers.

    • most of the brands are branching out into random products.

Fiio already sells the SP3 active speakers if you want to check them out.

Moondrop announced a "portable" CD player which is basically a big CD player with a battery (don't ask it's definitely not compact).

and I think another IEM brand recently announced a Cassette player.

These are very highly regarded iem's. These have great tonality and detail for the price. If you are treble sensitive, they may be ever so slightly bright. If you are a basshead, these may feel a bit lacking in that department. But otherwise they are very good value.

However, the have very thick nozzles and may not fit everyone. I find these very uncomfortable for long listening. I once went into work with them and had a bunch of conference calls with them. I swore that I would never bring them into work again after that. I normally wear medium ear tips so I don't believe that my ears canals are especially small.

The other thing is that they are heavy and brittle. A few times the cable caught on door handles and other protrusions, resulting in them hitting the ground. I have not had any iem be damaged from dropping (I have over a dozen iems) but with these, the silver faceplate broke off (I superglued them back), but worse, the clear resin cracked and broke off resulting in one ear losing sound. If you search on reddit, you will see that I am not alone with these problems.

    Be warned.

How about KZ X HBB PR2?

I know It is in a different price league but, is blessing2 significantly better than pr2?

      • +1

No experience with the HBB PR2s but I have the Letshoer S12 planar magentics and I feel like the tuning is super important. I really enjoy the S12s but find they have too much sibilence(?) in the high end and could see it being more of a problem in a less well tuned IEM.

        • +2

          Ty for your input

        • I completely agree on tuning's importance and also disagree on initial tuning being particularly important for planars. Planars will EQ to do whatever you want. My set of s12s is from the original preorder run and they have taken a savage beating from my lack of coordination and an accidental bath courtesy of my nephew and still sound perfectly to my taste with PMEQ. As long as an iem has a performant reliable driver, a shell that allows for a good seal and you have sufficient power to drive it there's little reason to care about a planar iem's initial tuning being a little off. Especially given there's a strong backbone of starting point settings from Crinacle, Oratory1990 and Jaakkopasanen's autoeq and their related communities.

Unfortunately, I haven't listed to the KZ X HBB PR2 so I cannot say from 1st hand experience. And I don't like just regurgitating popular opinion if I haven't heard it myself.

The iems that are in a similar league that I have personal experience in are the 7Hz Timeless and the Gizaudio Chopin. Of the 3, I would probably say Chopin #1, Timeless #2 and Blessing 2 #3. From a pure sound perspective the B2, is probably 2nd behind the Chopin but the comfort is just so horrible that I can't rate it higher than #3. I used the Timeless as my daily driver for a year and it was great.

  • Out of curiosity, how do these compare to big cans, say HD 595 or HD 600/650 etc. How close do these come?

    • +1

Technical performance would be superior to the 600 series, subject to maybe being pushed through some very high end DACs and amps.

Tonally the 650 comes up a smidge better, certainly warmer.

      • Great, thanks. I always thought even the best IEMs cant beat the mid range cans.

        • +1

This is a mid-range IEM, and it does beat it while offering isolation. Top end IEMs go further.

Keep in mind the 600 series are a unicorn in this price range too, with elements that compete with - and sometimes beat - even the best headphones, notably timbre and tone.

But the IEM space is moving very quickly, and you'll be seeing XMEMS options delivering even better sound quality over the next 12-18 months.
