welp maybe not clearance then.
from early announcement articles I remember Philips describing it as a "high-end" and audiophile tuned version of the old X2, so more like an upgrade to the SHP9500 which is more balanced in sound. I think people were expecting something that would compete with something like Sennheiser, but sound wise it turned out to be basically a X2 minus the fun boosted bass. meaning the overall sound was very very average.
Shows as $259 for me, probably only one unit at that price
Nope, had max of 5 per customer in my cart as a test. Lasted a few minutes after that. 200 clicks later.
yeah I believe it. they just snagged real quick. amazon algorithm kicked in just as fast.
also probably a handful of buyers who found it without clicking through the deal but by browsing/searching like you did.
Shows 238
It definitely was $74 at one point, possibly a pricing error or low quantity.
At that price they were a bargain, they never seemed to be highly regarded next to the X2s, but they were still decent and worth it at that price. At the current price you're better off getting the X2 (~$210 on Amazon, but goes for cheaper)
impulse bought @ 74 agh!
My X2's are happy I didn't catch on quick enough and realised it's not an upgrade from the OG.
wow they must be really looking to clear them out.
TLDR for those who want to know. X3 has bass roll-off similar to HD6 series headphones lot of feedback says if you even expect any sort of decent bass you will be disappointed. everything else about the sound seems to be very average (not very detailed or spacious). lot of people will buy based on the fact it's philips, looks good and recently released but apparently it was a major disappointment for people who loved the old SHP series and wanted a decent upgrade.
at $74 though if you want to try another pair of open-back headphones then it will probably be ok and do the job.
