Ozito PXC 18V Cordless Line Trimmer Kit $149 @ Bunnings Warehouse

100

Saw a pallet full of these at Bunnings Ashfield (NSW).

Looks similar to this line trimmer deal but this is $20 cheaper, has wheels for edging, slightly bigger cutting width and slightly faster no-load speeds.

Can't find any information on the Bunnings or Ozito websites, however did find what appears to be the Einhell page

Don't have personal experience with it but would be keen to see if anyone has tried one.

From what I've gathered these are pretty under powered. I've seen neighbours using both and the 36v (2x18v) looks like the way to go. Maybe if you've only got a small patch of grass or area to maintain this might be worth it.

    • I've got the 36V version and even that struggles at times. The fact that the design only has a single line coming out of the head makes it pretty clear that it doesn't have much power. It would really struggle if it had to drive two lines.

      • Yeah I have a 10yo base model Stihl and it's still much more powerful than the 36v ozito. We got the Ozito as the wife hates the petrol trimmer, but ultimately it doesn't get used that much.

I hate petrol trimmers (and most petrol garden tools) so much that I genuinely bought a scythe as an alternative as I didn't feel that at the time the battery trimmers were up to it. The Ozito trimmer does a kind of half arsed job, so the scythe still gets used for the bulk of the job at times. In part it's exercise, part cantankerous old git but mainly because it's quite enjoyable.

      • I have the brushless version and it's a beast with the metal brush cutting blade. Still uses the same crappy single line head as the brushed 36v model though. And it is heavy overall.

IIRC there was discussion here at some point about large improvements using aftermarket heads (and hate for the single line one from Ozito) so I assume the same applies for the brushed model.

Despite the hate it gets, I really like the little plastic blade trimmer. I use that most of the time, unless I need the brush cutter on the 36v trimmer. The line trimmer head on mine is barely used!

      • I had the 18V, I have the 36V and I have a 56V Ego.

The Ego is definitely the best, but the 36V Ozito isn't too bad. My main issue with it was that as the aluminium(?) feeder lugs started to wear a little bit, the line would break quite quickly, tearing off at the metal. Power is a bit lower than the Ego, but definitely usable.
The 18V isn't terrible, but definitely isn't great. It would be fine if you just had a city block with not much grass.

  • Aldi dual line trimmer is much better, its the 5-in-1 kit and uses dual battery. Its quite heavy but powerful enough.

  • Is there an item number for this? Cant find it on the website

  • Bit of a thread necro but I just got one of these from Bunnings Thomastown (they had plenty in stock, at the front of the shop in a big pile of Ozito and Ryobi gear).

Very happy with it, big upgrade from the stupid little 18v blade trimmer that I had before. the 1.6mm line is very thin and requires frequent bumping but it'll be much cheaper to use in the long run I think (and far less frustrating as I don't have to keep stopping to replace the surprisingly expensive blades).

    • are the wheels removable (if you don't need them)

      • Yes you don't have to clip them on if you don't want to use them (but equally, they don't get in the way, in my limited testing)

  • I picked up one of these on clearance for $109 today
