Chickens probably shouldnt eat it either

        • Too late…

          Marinade inside and out

    • +2

It was soooooo tasty but soooooo hot

      • +1

        Add coconut cream/milk

      • I usually add a whole can of lite coconut cream to it and no water, plus some desiccated coconut as well. It is still hot, but not unbearably so

        • +7

Don't buy lite coconut cream. It's not like normal milk, lite coconut cream is just coconut cream with more water in it. Just buy the high fat stuff and water it down if you want.

Eat some concrete first to harden up and then try again.

      • I wouldn't say I found this overly hot, but it is definitely hot for a rendang.
Kind of spoils the Rendang experience.

I personally prefer Dancing Chef Rendang paste. Also doesn't take shortcuts with msg.

      What about for Teans?

    • Masfood one is my favorite. Less spicy and the kids love it

  • +2

    Love the kick on Teans.

    Laksa is the best IMO.

    • I'll try it from my local asian grocer, that way I can just buy one. There is a 2 pack min on Amazon

$3.10 at my local Asian grocery. So no deal, IMO.

Sure, you save 10c if you don't have Prime.

  • Got a lot at $2.65 few months back but have yet to try

  • Chilliz brand is much better and only $2.75

    • What makes it better for you? Desi level spice?

    • Yep I like chiilliz too

  • +1

I really like this but too spicy for the wife, so I freeze some for later. Works great in the electric pressure cooker.

I used to love these before i discovered they are made with Soy oil. You really don't want that crap in your body.

    • What does it do to your body

This educational YouTube channel is one of my favorites. This one lays out the dangers that refined seed oils, like soybean oil, which have become widespread in our food system, pose to your health. Watching it might deter you from using them.

    Indofoods Rendang is good too.

  • The rendang is good. I have always made them from scratch, but I decided to buy a couple of these the last time they were on sale. It's not quite as good as from scratch, but it's a lot less hassle.

  • Curry Laksa OOS

    • Thanks, will edit

  • For the rendang I use this recipe and skip all the spice paste part. I also don't add extra salt as I find this pretty satly.

Goes great with rice and a Asian style cucumber salad to ease the spice.

    • Why would you skip the spice paste :/

      • Because you buy it for $3.

        Kindly regarded

        • Phew! Made it sound like you were making a sad curry for a moment.

I lived in Singapore for 3 years - I am lazy but this is very very spicy and a bit oily. I used it twice but no more.
The best rendang one is the most expensive one and its called Prima Taste, in fact the whole Prima taste range is excellent
You will understand once you swallow your Oz bargain pride and spend 3 times the price.
I have no association with Prima Taste but as things are in Singapore, Tiger beer is getting really expensive and even the MRT card is now 3 x the old cost.
even white Carrot cake has trebled in Bedok

$10-$13 for a shop-bought paste? This is Ozbargain.

At that price you may as well make your own, which should be much better.

      • Did I mention I was lazy. I also work 6 day x 10 -12, run a Home, do the washing cleaning and repairs.
Time is the most precious item in my life. I stand buy what I said. Life is too short for bad meals

        • That's hard to argue against. Fair enough.

Maybe I need to try some.

    • Prima taste is the MVP for good flavour, agreed. Needs to go on sale more oten

You lived in Singapore but you think that Teans curry is too spicy?

      • +1

Yes It is ! I also lived in Sri Lanka's Nth east, Tamil food is spicey but not like this. As I said I tried it twice. The colour tells you it has a lot of chilli powder and very oily.
You may enjoy it because taste is a personal thing, I do not. Singapore market food is not spicy as it is eaten by many tourists and as such it is toned down to suit, even in Little India at Newtown.
