  • Direct link http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Shop/SearchProducts?sear… was $16.11, now $8.99 for 4-pack AA 1200 Mah OR 4-pack AAA 600 Mah.

    • As kabigon pointed out, 1200 mAh is not comparable to the Min 1900 / Max 2000 mAh that the Eneloops are rated for..

Even 600 mAh for AAA is poor value.

  • Any idea if this is in-store as well as online?

    • I store it instore at Warwick WA

  • Usually $1.5 now $8

I guess this guy must love paying extra…each to their own - just so you know, this IS ozbargain :P

This pretty much sums it up..

    • True, the Turnigy batteries from HobbyKing are a very good price and several people have commented favourably on them in past LSD NiMH battery deals.

But it spoils a lot of the enjoyment of a bargain when you have to wait days or even weeks for it to be delivered, depending on who you are buying from.

For example, I like the prices at DX and Meritline, but I hate the 3-4 week wait for delivery.

OP, you should add to the description that these batteries are "Low Self-Discharge" batteries. That makes the deal a lot more attractive to OzBargainers. Comparing them to Eneloops implies this, but it is a bit vague.

    • "Low Self-Discharge" requires self discipline.

      • I'll let you follow your own noses on Google if your keen, but 'specials' on Pure Energy stuff at Woolworths have been around for some weeks now. I did extensive searches at the time, including review threads on these specific, tremendously less than average batteries. Avoid.
If you want to pull something off the shelf, instead of waiting for Eneloops to be delivered at a better price from Dick Smith/Shopping Square/Amazon, I think you'll find 4 packs of AA & AAA Varta LSD rechargeables still on special at Woolies for $11.98. Genuine quality - likely equal to Eneloops. Maybe, just maybe, slightly better. (Sacrilege!)

        • Or you could go to Aldi and by their Activ Energy "Ready to use batteries" for $7 from memory. AA batteries are supposedly 2300mAh.

  • how do the Aldi 2500 rechargale batteries stack up in general?

  • Might as well get those fake 3000mah BTY batteries rated at 1200mah for 50 cents each.

  • This is not a bargain considering their specs and pricing.

    • How is it not a bargain, its 40% off…

      • 'Bargains' need to have a basic quality reference point to be bargains. In a recent test of some rechargeables in Choice mag, all the quality brands met or slightly exceeded their stated capacity. When the basic chemistry of the batteries (these) doesn't even allow for the industry bog average, there's an issue at play.
I seriously doubt that Pure Energy are understating the capacity of these batteries and some of the thread comments I alluded to above revealed some very unhappy customers indeed.
