      • @I Smell Pennies

Just letting you know, my latest experience.

        — when accepting the FVF offer, I could not,
because my annual eBay Plus membership had expired, just last week.
        (so, that was expected!)

        — when trying to renew, eBay automatically offered me $9.99 for 12-month membership.
so, your posted deal worked !

        — then, after listing the item as "Buy It Now", the item sold within a couple of days.

        — eBay counter shows "Used / Left __ 1/0 "

        — When I check my invoice, it showed something like this:

        FVF: $0
        Rate: 12.18% x ??? = - ○○○
        Promotion: ○○○ x 100% = + ○○○

        International Fee = $xyz
(This is 1% of final amount, because delivery address was in the USA)

So, the promotion worked on "Buy It Now" item. Thanks for your advice, before.

However, imagine selling something $2k, and you have to pay $20 in an 'International Fee' !

Then, with listing fee of $0.27 , and the GST ,… I got a fee, which I was not expecting.

In all my years, I never saw this 'International Fee' and then eBay didn't even release these funds to me,
because it takes a few days, in typical escrow fashion.
I liked it better when it was instant with Paypal.

        • +1

Sounds complicated but seems like the selling promo still worked. You could always cancel the sale if you think it's a scammer or didn't want to sell to someone overseas, hard to know if it is legit or not.

          • @G-rig: I overshared information, so it sounded 'complicated', haha.

My main point was that, even if the 0% FVF gave me the illusion of "no fees",
eBay still slapped me with a big enough 'fee',
because I had to send the item International.

So, with items being in the thousands of $$$ ,
that International Fee will actually hit your bottom line,
especially if your shipping costs are mis-calculated too.

            • +1

@whyisave: Yes sounds like $20 on international was the issue, but really it's only 1% of the cost so pretty good still!
would cost heaps in fees otherwise.
Pain either way selling anything to be honest.

              • @G-rig: Yes, that's right.

So, selling $2k item means I saved AU$ 243 in FVF (which is 12.18%),
and then there's the shipping too (which was about AU$ 39),
but this was auto-calculated by eBay and had to be part of the "Buy It Now" price.

eBay don't even release the funds straight away,
                and there's a time-delay on that.
With Paypal before, you got instant confirmation,
and it used to show up in my Paypal statement.

If I made a mistake with the weight or physical dimensions,
the, this postage cost would have become higher.

You are right though, because even if I lost a little bit of money overall,
I still saved the biggest fee (the FVF) by using this useful promotion 1 out of 1 times.

It's just that I never heard of an 'International Fee' before,
otherwise I would have factored that into my asking price.

We're all operating on slim margins nowadays!

Also, the buyer had to pay AU$ 150 as a sales tax for buying from Australia as well :-\

                • @whyisave: well done.
Better than all the FB marketplace messages and scammers

                  • @G-rig: The thing is, I bought the item(s) from FB Marketplace, haha

I just wanted a quick sale, so put on eBay.

  • -1

    ebay plus is trash now.

    • It's certainly not the same as the 2-3yrs ago when they had 10/month that's for sure.

I sell high value low volume so even the petty 1/month still well pays for the membership in a single transaction, but I understand that's not the case for most sellers.

Don't imagine the situation to improve in the near future either :c

  • +2

Well that will teach me for being lazy and not listing my items when I had 3x to use .

  • I don't remember negging this post but can't remove it I must have misclicked somehow not sure?

  • i accepted the offer earlier, but it's not appearing yet and the RSVP link no longer works either.

    • +3

eBay screws up every month. Nothing new. Don't worry, links will be updated over the coming days.

  • 1 listing lol.

      • I leave the OzB listing to the professionals. Why defend a big company like eBay lol? We're here to save money and they're clearly being cheap. Has nothing to do with actually posting on OzB.

          • @[Deactivated]: I don't see how your "joke" is relevant?

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Good, because you couldn't even if you wanted to. Might as well mark yourself as affiliated while you're at it since you get butthurt anytime anyone criticizes eBay. Enjoy your Spider Man 2 big boy. 😂

  • anyone got the link?

    • +1

Not active yet. Probably won't be till later today or in the next few days. Never can tell with ebay

      • +1

EBay usually starts on the 5th of the month… like humble bundle

  • I’m a casual seller. So I just go with one high value item to sell using promo to get my money worth for plus membership. It does same a fair bit

  • will they take a virtual card?

  • For me it says "Unfortunately, you can no longer sign up for this promotional offer because it has expired." Or they dont like me :)

    • Same with me. I think this is another (regular) eBay promo stuff up.

    • +3

It links to the November offer activation - hence why it is expired since November is over now

  • +2

Flaky eBay system. Contacted CS that the offer is not working. Sent them the link, they said "The link you have shared is showing an error and hence I am not able to see it." And followed by the usual canned response "I will send to the escalation team and keep you updated" which in 99% of my experience, never.

  • Can't see the promo. Ebay plus member

  • Hmm the link says 'Unfortunately, you can no longer sign up for this promotional offer because it has expired.

    What's going on?

    • It links to the November offer activation - hence why it is expired since November is over now

      • I clicked on the marked December Offer link; is there another link?

        • Yeh, I mean the T's & C's for the December offer is correct, but when you click the "Accept" link it actually brings you to the November offer activation link.

          eBay needs to update it.

The reason why I know is because when I clicked on that link yesterday - it shows that I have accepted the offer already and ends on Nov 30.

Today - since it is no longer November - obviously when you now click on "Accept" it will obviously say it has expired.

  • double post

  • should i remove all my cheap things that i already have up before accepting ? just incase ?

    • why would you do that?

      • just incase i sell one and it uses that as the free fee one

        • If you are sure that expensive one will sell 100%, better to take off cheapers for sometime.

    • +1

If your cheap things were listed before you accepted your promo - then don't worry. The promo won't apply to them.

So you won't risk having the fee free applied to them.

  • not ready yet… come on.. need to sell,….

  • If you took up the recent seller featured store offer just note your not eligible for this which sucks. Says anyone with eBay store subscription isn't eligible

  • +17
    • Yep confirm it has worked for me! Thx

    • thanks

    • thanks worked for me

    • working for me now cheers
      (great deal, selling the wife)

      • Hope you get a good price for her.

      • Is she NEW?

        • no female adults are new. we just dont know, these days…

      • Is this available ?

    • Thank you :)

    • Thanks, was the only way I could see the offer.

  • Got it working for 1 of my account and not the other, jesus man, not even for 1/month can I enjoy this! :c

    • Do they all have ebay plus?
Worked on all of mine with ebay plus

      • Yeah both have it, have no issues with any passing months either, oh well…

  • +1

EBay so stingy. Charges 13.4% but gives only 1 per month. EBay doesn’t deserve more than 5%. Even at 5% they could be earning a lot.

    • +2

Yep, I don't get it. They should have a 5% flat fee on everything and then maybe they'd compete with marketplace.

  • Only offer I currently have appearing is "100% variable fee credit for Salomon, Hoka or Asics sneakers". Snowball's chance in Hell of using that one. Hanging out for the regular offer as I have another high value item to sell.

  • +3

Deal link updated to rsvp acceptance

  • +1

The T&C link had Accept Offer link, which worked!

  • The current link showed an expired deal but the link in bargainhunterjacob's post above worked

  • Unfortunately, this promotional offer isn't available to you.

    • should be store seller excluded by recent FVF $0 offers

  • Confirmed promo active, listed item, but still shows as 0/1 used ?

    • When you sell the item the counter goes up.

      • Ahhh ok thanks. So technically I could list 5 new items and whichever one sells first takes the 1 quota? Existing items for sale are excluded right?

  • If the buyer cancels the purchase or doesnt pay, do we get that fee free listing back?

    • Good luck with that, not sure. Mind you we get refunded ebay plus vouchers if the sale doesn't go through to use again.
Report them anyway, buyer shouldn't be cancelling or not paying on ebay. I've let someone off once though (for change of mind).

    • i had one like that, dont worry.
the offer still marked as unused UNTIL buyer pays (you only use the offer when a buyer pays, not when auction ends with a winner)
just check it before you list it will be 0/1 zero used one available -
but do NOT relist. create new listing.

      • +1

Appreciate the replies, and yes you’re right.

I can now share an update in my situation - the buyer wanted a refund(cancellation) immediately after paying, probably buyers remorse, but I did it for them because it felt like the right thing.
Then I did lose the promotional listing (showed 0/1) even after the cancellation was fully processed.

Contacted eBay support, they said officially this promotion is considered used up and that’s that, but they will offer me a credit this one time.

Don't think how that’s fair to the seller, since technically the sale was reversed and it wasn’t sold.
So beware if a buyer asks to cancel(refund), could end up losing the 0 fee promo.

        • So beware if a buyer asks to cancel(refund), could end up losing the 0 fee promo.

Unfortunately you don't really have any choice.

If the buyer asks to cancel, you're definitely going to lose out if you force the sale. They'll just shaft you with some nonsense return.

        • Ah yes if they paid then you used the offer. If just not paying winner, you still have the offer.

        • The offer is for the "First Transaction" …… not first "successful" transaction.
