  • This is an awful telescope and the kind that put kids (and adults) off astronomy. If you are gifting someone with an interest or a passion for astronomy, do them a favor and save your money. Spend a bit more and buy something like this instead: https://www.opticscentral.com.au/saxon-6-dobsonian-telescope…

    • Thank you for the advice. Looking at the reviews of the Saxon 6", folks are saying you can see Saturn Rings. Any recommendations for basic Astrophotography with a smart phone? i.e. which is the best adapter?

A bit more? Aka 400 percent?

      • 400% for something that works as opposed to something that just frustrates and turns people off the hobby. I'm sympathetic that its more expensive, but telescopes for $100 are just traps for the unwary. The manufacturers are aware of this, and it's really pretty unconscionable that they take advantage of people like this.

I get it what you are saying but not everyone can afford such an investment

    • Unfortunately what turned me and my daughter off astronomy was that we don’t have the money to afford something that works well enough to be useful. Bought a cheapo like this one and that proved it’s not worth it unless you buy something better.
