Was looking for a birthday present for my son's friend and was going to get these books from amazon but were $39 and wouldn't come in time then I found these at Big W for $24, was a good price so I brought 2! $4 delivery or can click and collect for free.
I am sure Netflix will snap it up to make a series from it as well.

Yep my son loved them and has now read all of Rick Riordan's books.. now i need to find him another author!
Have you tried the Ranger's Apprentice or Skullduggery series? Also it's a bit older but the Deltora Quest or Rowan of Rin by Emily Rodda are both really good as well.

He just read Enders Game and loved it, and also really enjoyed Louis Sachar's books.
