Regular sized boards are a little on the smaller size, better to have the large variation.

Note that the size is 30cm x 20cm which is not very big - a bit smaller than a A4 paper

  • That quick, sold out

  • Sold out on eBay, but I still purchased a set on Amazon, decent price still, thanks OP.

Plastic chopping boards are worse for bacteria growth than wood

Downvote me all you want, but I’m right

Working in restaurants, the number of these boards that I could brush scraps of plastic off with my hand is astonishing

The concept behind the coloured plastic boards for prevention of cross contamination is undeniably important, but the execution is horrible. We’re forbidden from using wooden boards and I’ve even had a threat of being closed down because one was in the kitchen

Good point. In regards to this product posted, how do they air dry if they’re kept in a plastic box?

          • +1

@J B S: Dry it in your dishrack. The box is just for storing on your kitchen bench

          • +1

            @J B S: Slowly and inefficiently

So what's the alternative in the home kitchen?

          • +3

@wearytraveller: A thick wooden board, non scratch scourers, hot water and liquid soap

You give it a good scrubbing after each use (it can be slightly less intensive with things like fruit, vegetables and bread), and every 6-12 months (depending on intensity of use) you wipe it down with a food grade mineral oil - do NOT use canola/vegetable/olive oils as they soak into the wood and eventually turn rancid, ruining the wood

  • I couldn’t find the sale price on Amazon. Has anyone got the link?

  • We've had the large version of these. They are nice but end up feeling rough after a year or so, and it felt like micro sized bits of plastic were coming off.

In the end we bought a board stand off Amazon and some $2 boards from Kmart which we replace on a regular basis.

    Much better and cheaper.
