Looks to be an ATL, picked this up a month back for $64 and it's a great little machine after flashing Garlic OS instead of the stock FW.

Plays NES, SNES, SMS, MD, GB, GBC, GBA flawlessly, I've also tried a few PS1 games and they seem to work pretty well.

Appears to be available in all colours. More info here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWLRWEooqd8

Arrrgh really tempted but I've waited this long I might as well wait a little longer for the Plus. Want the Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • Showing AU$48.13 was AU$235.70 -79% for me. Did I miss something or has price dropped further?

    • Showing as US $37.06 or AU$56.57 for me

      New/returning customer discount - US$31.56 (~A$48.13) + GST.

  • are they the same as the r35s

just saw a video on this one https://youtu.be/1JazW_Rf0Ko?si=WRaZPTFSZEh3ob9S and it only $57 AUD

    • Are what the same as the R35S?

I ordered an R36S from that link a few days ago. Great price for what seems to be a pretty decent device. More powerful than the RG35XX and has analogue sticks

  • This seems like it can't play PS2 games, any recommendations for devices that do (preferably with analog sticks)?

    • My Steam Deck plays PS2 pretty well :D

  • Any emulator that does ds?

    • Drastic, but not sure how viable it is on something like this due to control scheme. Some games that don't need a touchpad or second screen are probably ok.

    • You either need something with a big screen, ie Steam Deck so that you can do both screens at once, or just play games that only need one screen.

Recommend Street Fighter 2 Champions edition

  • I love these things, but for (profanity)'s sake, over 60 bucks and it can play "a few" PS1 games that seem to work "pretty well" ?

Utterly ridiculous. The goddamn RK2020 that could be got for about 80 bucks … ALMOST 4 YEARS AGO … could play a great selection of PSP games, as well as N64, Dreamcast, every PS1 game, and so on. Ridiculous they ask this much for so little these days.

Yes, I know, the chip shortages.
Yes, I know, the RK2020 was a clone console.

Doesn't change the fact that this thing runs less than something from 4 years ago for almost the same price.

Buy a PowKiddy V90 if you're happy with "pretty well" PS1 performance, it's ~40/50 normal price, has the cool GBA SP form factor you don't see on many of these things, and so on. Hell, the original Pocket Go (for ~50 bucks 4.5 years ago) could play many PS1 games "pretty well", I clocked the first couple Tony Hawk's on it no problem, as well as Spyro 3 and a couple others.

60 bucks these days SHOULD be buying you AT LEAST N64/Dreamcast, and I'm tired of pretending it shouldn't.

The various FunKey S clones for the same price (which is open source before someone complains about them being cloned products) can also handle all PS1 games flawlessly, in addition to native ports of things like Super Mario 64 and Duke Nukem 3D also running damn near perfect.

I know it's apples and oranges, so I'm not going to compare them directly, but for 60 bucks, I genuinely think you'd be better digging up your most recent old phone you no longer use, and buying a decent controller of choice for it. Or better yet, buy a 5 buck clamp for the PS4 or Xbox controller we both know you have, and just use that on the phone.

    • Which PS1 games don't work well on this device? I was under the impression that this could handle all PS1 games well (that has been my experience with the many games I've tested and played so far), with the added bonus that it would fit right in your pocket, unlike an XB1 controller.

It plays all PS1 games at full speed, OP just said he tested a few of them, but they all work.

      • I should damn well hope. My budget phone from a decade ago, literally could play them all. Hell, the PSP from 2004 with 32mb of RAM could play them all.

Not a huge ask 20 years later.

    • What do you recommend instead?

  • So I ordered one of these and I just got a email saying it’s failed to clear customs

    What does this mean?

Starting to feel it’s a scam as when I look at tracking it says leaving departure country 1/12/23 02:22 and then failed to clear at import customs 2/12/23 18:34

    Seems kinda quick doesn’t it?

Any able to shed some light on this. This is the first time I’ve used Aliexpress

    • Delay of 2 days. It will go through
Happened with my orders 1 month ago.

    • I had that happen too. I think it 'failed to clear' Hong Kong customs before getting shipped onwards. 3 days later it started the import customs process in Sydney.

Don't stress. Looks pretty stock standard.

Ok thanks for a reasonable reply mate

  • Hi Twisty,

You need to call Aliexpress and check with them. I dont think OZ bargain will help in dealing with the shipment.

    Regards,
    Vinay

    • Just asking if it’s happened to anyone before

  • -1

Got my Anbernic RG35XX Mini Retro Handheld Game Console even tho it still says it’s stuck in customs

Can anyone let me know for those who have bought one before. Is the box meant to be sealed?

    • Mine wasn't sealed.

      • -1

        Ok thanks

Comes with a screen protector too

  • Windjammers in my pocket, heck yes

Awesome device, thanks op. Kicking myself I didn't but 10

  • Does anyone have a good guide to follow to get it all set up (giving it as a Christmas present….)

  • So I finally got to use my Anbernic RG35XX and when I booted it up I found that it has a lot of games already installed on the cheap SD card it comes with

Did everyone else that bought one get games on there’s too?

I also tried playing Silent Hill PS1 and it runs ok but has this horrible audio sound when you first start playing it. Any ideas?
