Anyone know where to get cheap installation?

    • Try hipage.

Havnt had the best experience with hipages… 3 / 4 occassions the tradies were untrustworthy or had very poor workmanship.

  • I wonder how the Hisense compares. Pretty compelling at <1200 for 7kw

Just my 2c, we have a Kelvinator reverse cycle, and I wouldn't buy another one.

    • What issues did you have?

      • +3

If left on for too long, it will eventually freeze up and stop working. The more humid the air is, the quicker this happens. If it's raining and you want to use the heater, good luck!

The common fault people say is there is a leak somewhere, but the cost of having someone find and fix the 'leak' is not worth the cost. The most common recommendation is to replace the unit with a better brand.

When I was googling this issue, it was quite a common one with Kelvinator. We have a Daikin in the main bedroom, and it's never had an issue.

I have a couple of these which have both faced the exact same issue. One was replaced under warranty and the blame was a "valve icing up and seizing" or something like that. I also wouldn't buy another.

My friend told me a way to "fix" the leak.

If you know hot weather is coming. Turn on high for few hours few days before, then it's ok after that.

after awhile you haven't use it (few months of winter), if you turn the air con at low… It will leak (happened to me for 1st 3 years and was really unhappy). Told my friend and he taught me the method above. Tried my friend's method for many years, still going strong.

    • Both of mine broke down right after the warranty expired.

    • I've got three and also would not recommend, the app is horrendous and barely ever works and the units themselves are temperamental. Got a MIHI recently and it is bulletproof.

I'd probably go for a better brand tbh.

Kelvinator isn't the brand it once was, I believe it's now like the MG cars, just a brand name badge slapped on a Chinese product of questionable quality.

Had ours for few years maybe 5-6? I’ve had 0 issues apart from basic service ‘ cleaning

We got throw harvy norman they also supplied someone to install for extra

  • Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and Daikin are the only brands I'd recommend as HVAC installer
