Seiko SSB393P Chronograph Titanium $299 Free Shipping @ Watch Depot

Was looking at Chronograph watch , and found this one on sale. Looks pretty nice. Not sure about the history price, but seems good for a titanium chronograph watch.

I have a variation of one of these (mine is black dial with green accents): https://www.shiels.com.au/products/seiko-ssb387p-chronograph…
    $360 with 10% off

    • Generally timing how long something takes.

    • are you the new JV?

      • Probably. I was genuinely curious. I don't have a chronograph in my miniscule collection. I personally find the faces a little busy with all the sub dials and the dimensions a little too big for my 7" wrist. Thought maybe there was something I was missing out on giving its extra complications is simply to time things.

I even up voted the deal when I first saw it because it's good value for a Seiko titanium. Maybe my question was too abrupt and without context. Either way, neg away IDGAFF.

        • its a fair question… ozbb is just infected with butthurt bitches

the answer is that its a fashion thing

you can time stuff better with a smartphone anyway

at best you can time when you leave your car so you dont get a parking ticket but that's about it but obviously people pay thousands for an auto chrono and they really make no sense

        • App load duration times, infant sleep/wake duration, various cooking counters/timers, and u mean per much anything with kids.

    • Boiling an egg?

      • Perfect. Purchased. Cheers

        • Ha.

I mean the function is there but most do buy a Crono for the fashion and because you can. The marvel is in the automatic Cronos and all the moving parts (quartz ones still use a manual timer mech).

          • @G-rig: Great. Cancelled. Cheers

          • @G-rig: It's important to note that not all quartz chronos use a mechanical timing module. Many just use the same 1 tick/s mechanism that the second hand does

  • no mention of the material of watch face ..mineral
    or sapphire ?

      Crystal

      Curved Hardlex

if its under $500 from seiko is not going to be sapphire

seiko is a poor company you see, cant afford to give you sapphire for a mere $299

      • While that rule is mostly true I recently got a land tortoise for $450. That has sapphire. But to be fair the rrp is 900ish.

  • Great looking with titanium case at this price. Shame about Hardlex and not Sapphire (Seiko SSB393 - OP's post specs).

I bought a similar looking Seiko SSC773 Solar Chronograph and was surprised it looked quite a bit nicer in person than photos. Your post is also a nice looking watch OP, and for that price, if I didn't own a SSC773 I might be tempted… No Sapphire definitely is a bummer though.

A recent JOMW video of this Seiko with a Citizen along for the ride.

  • Nice watch for less money than Armani or Michael Kors tat.

$299 for the SSB393P Titanium is a good price, they were $399 a week or so ago.
The carbon effect is nice, I don't find the whole watch very legible though.
Also noticed it on JOMW video.

Good price for this on as an alternative. $296 (rrp $595) has sapphire, ~40mm, non-titanium and more legible.

Ended up returning it, got enough watches and didn't see the point. the dials pretty small too.

I reckon the TISSOT SUPERSPORT CHRONO would be a better choice in this style, not solar but pretty good looking, legible and a bit chunkier.
