[Steam, PC] Pinball FX3 and FX - Bally Williams Packs $4.25 Each (Was $14.25) @ Steam

110

UPDATE
I discovered that the newer Pinball FX Williams Packs are also on sale for the same price as FX3

If you already have the pack in FX3, you can purchase the newer FX version for only $2.46

Pinball FX3 is an advanced pinball emulator, with online high scores and various graphical options to suit your individual preference. Overall I think this is the highest historical discount on all the FX3 tables on Steam. Every table is heavily reduced (On Average by 70%)

A great way to get into digital/virtual pinball, especially if you need a plug and play solution, especially when compared to Visual Pinball, which is truly awesome but unfortunately has a very steep user learning curve and FX3 bypasses all that and lets you just get to the fun a lot quicker and easier.

Bally Williams Packs (3 Tables per pack) $4.25 each 70% Off - (Normally $14.25)

Fx2 owners still salty over the treatment of its retirement. Disingenuous re-release of table dlc, stranded IP,..

    • That sounds very crummy! I'm only familiar with FX3, because I only discovered it in the past 2-3 years.

  • Shame there's no VR mode either :(

  • Finally got the Indiana Jones table, last I needed.

I always wonder what Bally/Williams pinballs would be like today if they still existed (closed down by WMS in 1999).

Would be fascinating to see! Although I'm glad that there are still new pinball machines coming out each year, some of them look amazing.

Hasn't pinball fx 3 also been retired? And they have yet again re-released the platform and yet again everyone has to re-purchase all the tables?

    • I just found this on their website

"Let’s be extra clear here: I can still play my classic tables in Pinball FX3?

Absolutely! And for a very long time to come. We have absolutely no plans to sunset Pinball FX3, including its leaderboards and other features. We welcome you to enjoy classic Zen releases in Pinball FX3 for years to come. However, please note that the release of new content has ended for Pinball FX3. Instead of creating two versions of the same table, our dev team can instead use those resources to produce new Pinball FX content at a faster rate."

So these FX3 tables are still a viable purchase it seems. But yeah, the repurchasing tables for the new version does suck, although I did hear something about discounts being given to folks with FX3 tables, but I don't know the details.

I also saw quite a few comments saying the new FX version is not that great and not that big an improvement on graphics and physics as one would hope, some even saying it looks and plays worse. I saw a Youtube video of some new FX tables, and to be honest, I could not tell a difference graphically. Definitely does not seem like a black and white case of the new one being massively superior, like you usually see in other sequels.

So even though I see the point of people wanting to jump on the new version now for quite a few reasons, I am personally happy to just stick with FX3, as I already had a bunch of real world tables (that I purchased on a big discount a while back) and just wanted to use this current sale to get the few remaining real world tables I didn't have and just keep enjoying FX3 into the future.

If one day the other real world tables that they are releasing on the new version, like Adams Family and Twilight Zone etc become really cheap on a sale, I will probably buy those and just launch the new game from Steam when I want to play them. Not ideal, because it would be better to have them all in one title, but they both run on Steam, so it's not that big a deal IMO.

As it stands, with this big discount being offered on FX3 tables, you can currently buy all the real world tables they sell for about $38 and this will include 21 tables in total. So I think for many pinball fans that just want to play a bunch of cool pinball recreations without the hassle of dealing with Visual Pinball, this still represents a decent option for the (current reduced) price and works out way cheaper than getting them all on the new system, as far as I can tell.
