  • Great price but still got 6 packs of their regular clay bar

  • Thanks OP. Will give it a whirl.

  • +1

Not sure what this does but will give it a go anyways

    • it removes the rough physical contaminents from your paint

    • Make sure you know how to use it before you use it because you can ruin your paint, more so if you have a dark coloured car

      • thanks for the tip!

        • See the posts below about making sure the car surface being wet. It's pretty easy to do but the important thing is keeping the surface wet so you don't put swirl marks in your paint

  • Thoughts on this versus a clay mitt or clay towell?

    • +1

this one mars less, i prefer this one because so much easier to use

    • +1

Depends how contaminated your paint is.

You're essentially asking what grit sandpaper to use without telling us what you're working with.

      • +2

I'm working with Smith and Warner

    • Clay bar is still better.

    Anybody got this??

"Sorry, this item can't be delivered to your selected address. Learn more. You may either change the delivery address or delete the item from your order."

    • Yes. Same here

    • Same. Must be assigned to Couriers Please

  • I reckon I throw out my clay twice as quickly as I should because I'm worried it'll scratch, not sure I'd trust this but … thanks ozb, purchased anyway.

    • i have this and a generic repco one … both do similar job though different shapes …paint is smooth when finished , have silver car so fairly forgiving vs black car owners. much better result than washing my car and not much more effort … was to remove dirt, wash again with clay sponge , rinse, dry and wax.

      • Do you use it like it's a sponge to clean?

        • It's actually part of a detailing process. This clay bar will scratch you car. You should compound/polish/topcoat after clay barring your paint.

        • need lubricant like water and detergent, it’s slightly abrasive but seems to remove the rough texture from that paint makes it smooooth. i do it about once a year. because it is abrasive be careful on sharp or square edges as it can take paint off

      • Are you suggesting that you clay bar your paint everytime you wash your car?

        • Yeah that’s how I read it. Crazy if so! I have maybe done it three times on a 5 year old car. Every 6 months would be the absolute most I’d clay. I’m trying to aim for a yearly detail but sometimes I miss the deadline

        • no i clay about once a year, because these things are slightly abrasive, abrasion is what takes the stuck on contaminants off the paint , doesn’t take much effort in a spot, and it’s quick.

  • Is this actually a traditional clay bar or is it just their name for the new style rubber clay blocks? Either way the RRP is way overpriced but the sale prices isn't bad.

  • How does it work? :)

  • Do you still need the clay bar lubricant for this? I'm waiting for one to go on sale

    • +4

Just make your own lube. I put 50:50 car wash, water in a spray bottle and it works a treat.

      • +1

I just use the car wash mix as well. Lubricants sold by detailing product companies are so overpriced and unnecessary.

    • Some of the YouTube detailers reckon to just use a fresh bucket of car wash as a lubricant.. I've tried it last time I clayed my car (putting it up for sale) and it seemed a lot easier than the spray luber I had just run out of.

      • I do this, just use the hose and it’s fine. As long as your surface is wet and, more importantly, the claybar glides across it (ie there is no friction) you won’t scratch the paint. Had my car 10 years so far and the black paint has no swirl marks in it. I clay bar 1-2 times per year

    • If you scored the instant detailer from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/776122 it’s perfect for use with this.

  • and its gone

  • NOOO the one time I was thinking about buying clay and its already sold out.
