The UGREEN HDMI Switch is a bi-directional splitter that allows you to connect two HDMI sources to one display or one HDMI source to two displays. It supports video output up to 4K@60Hz (3840 * 2160) and 1080P@144Hz (1920 * 1080), and is compatible with 1080P, 1080i, 720P, 576P, 576i, 480P, 480i. The switch is easy to set up and operate, and no extra power supply is required for connection. Simply press the button to switch signal between two HDMI sources. LED indicators tell you which port is active. The switch is made of premium ABS case which is high-temperature resistance, built-in with high intelligent chip for better performance.

I would also like to know from anyone who has one if you can use it as a HDMI on/off switch, i.e. just connect one output to switch between signal and no signal? Some do, some don't. Some detect there is nothing in the second port and won't switch.

  • It is actually showing $14.39 "maybe cause Prime!". thanks

Thanks, edited. Silly me. I trusted ChatGPT to help me write the title and didn't check thoroughly. Trust it to get the most important thing wrong.

As mentioned above, I also have it for $14.39 but I can say for certain that the RRP is total BS at $23.99. I know this because I just purchase this recently at full price for $17.99.

  • nice, been on the lookout for one of these. Can anyone comment on the quality of these? There are some for pretty cheap (~$5) on eBay but not sure about quality.

    • +1

I have this, quality is good and is working fine over the last year for me. No issues whatsoever.

      • Don't suppose you could do me a humongous favor and see if it works with only 1 output connected - i.e. to essentially use it as an on-off switch for a HDMI output.

    • +3

I can't say anything other than it works. I actually have 2 of these. I have purchased other Ugreen products before and I am happy with their quality. They seem, at least to me, to be of a higher quality than average.

    • I got one like this years ago and can say it works well. Connected a Wii and PSX Classic to an old TV with one HDMI input for the kids play room. Auto selects the active input when only one console is turned on. Not 4k though.

  • Works as described but see $14 sale price very often

  • can anyone recommend one for 4k 120fps? or will i just lose image quality?

    • +1

I am using this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09FKW1J16/ref=ppx_od_d…
Though I am using it to switch displays it does say you can switch UHD sources too.

(I am using it to get 4K 120 VRR on my Bravia, and 1080P to my office from PS5. Only one output at a time, not simultaneous.)

      • thanks mate my setup is quite simmilar. im running a series x xbox to my big tv and have a racing sim next to it, its not a hassle changing but im going to break the port the amount of times im changing over. do you think ill be all good? my 2nd tv will be 4k 60fps

        • +1

I think so. as atwilliams posted below make your cables are up to spec and not too long.

I am using this one. Works well and is on a “Black Friday” deal at the moment.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0BPRQHSGT/ref=ppx_yo_d…

Make sure your cables are up to spec to ensure no loss in quality.

  • why not pay a few bucks more for hdmi 2.1?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/GANA-Switcher-Splitter-Bi-Directio…

    • Indeed. That's the same one as I am using and posted above. Higher spec for ~$5 more (assuming you don't go for a coloured one, which seem ridiculously priced)

  • Hi all,

Can anyone please tell me if this works with arc?

Use case: it sends back audio from either of the HDMI devices connected. So it I wanted to use arc from avr and soundbar connected to the same TV's arc port, the audio is transmitted

  • Can this be used as a laptop monitor extender? As in with 2 hdmi outs, instead of identical displays, they extend from one screen to the next?

    • +1

Per the product description: "HDMI Splitter Mode allows you to connect one HDMI source to two displays (Only 1 of the 2 displays works at a time)"
ie. No, all its doing is electrically switching between the two HDMI outputs, that's why it's $15 and not $150.
Any device under 50 bucks, all it's doing is duplicating the signal to multiple outputs or switching between them.
If you want to turn a single HDMI output into multiple separate displays you need a HDMI video wall controller. These will actually do processing to split the image out to different screens.

      • Yeah, anything like that is basically telling the input device "'hey I have this huge resolution" acting as though it was a monitor itself.

    • May the odds be ever in your favor
