  • When does shopback partnership end?

    • +1

Westpac are part owners of Shopback, so never? The offers will probably get less generous over time though.

  • for 0.5 points for purchases - it's just not worth it ( and the $4000 needed to spend in 3 months !!)

  • damn points were 90/100k at one point. man theyre going down so fast haha

  • Has this deal changed recently? Looks pretty familiar from the past four months (when I last churned)

    • Increased their Qantas fee from $50 to $75

  • Wouldnt the bonus points normally exclude existing customers? Or the exclusion is for existing card holders in the last 12-18months

    • Offer not available if you’ve held an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black card with Altitude Rewards, Qantas or Velocity in the last 12 months.

  • For eligible purchases, can i just pay my rent and bills through this for the 3 months?
It breaks down into $1,333.33 a month which would easily be covered by those

    • +1

Bpay on Westpac online portal do not count towards eligible spend for $4k.

      • thank you! :)

    • +1

It counts if you pay through Zip or Sniip.

  • Anyone know how stringent the application is, payslips etc?

    • They don't even ask for payslips if your salary is credited to a WBC account.

Best thing about westpac is you can use digital card as soon as you get approved don't have to wait for physical card.

I'm an existing customer for shopback deals and it appeared on the app as soon as I got approved.

    • Yes it's nice but unfortunately can't buy gift cards or make any purchases that require MFA. Either with the card details within the app or using apple pay.

      • Yes it's nice but unfortunately can't buy gift cards or make any purchases that require MFA.

Are you sure? The app also provides you card number, expiry date, and dynamic cvc that you can use for online purchases. MFA will still go through the Westpac account's phone number/email won't it?

I've never had any issue with the digital card, but I cannot remember if there was any purchases that specifically asked for MFA.

        • When prompted for MFA it says that Mastercard hasn't been provided any contact details/phone number to allow a code to be sent through, and declines the transaction

  • Anyone been approved yet and submitted documents manually?

    • I had my application verify my income via my CBA bank account and it was approved on the spot

    • May I know how long did you wait for the approval after submitting docs manually? Thanks

      • +1

Day or two, or less. Just depends

  • Did anyone have issues with the application process? I uploaded my payslips manually and it said on that page that the PDF was submitted, but kept throwing me out to a page saying to continue my application.

Upon logging back into the account, it says they are assessing my application, but clicking on Track My Application throws me to the same page as stated above.

  • Much better off doing the velocity version instead, you will get an additional 30k velocity points through this deal for a total of 100k
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/809919

    • Does Westpac velocity card have its own cooldown? I know Westpac altitude rewards and Westpac frequently flyer rewards each do.

I've never gotten a velocity card before as I'm more of a QFF kinda guy ;)

      • They all do. If you have had a WP FF qantas card you can't get a velocity card for 12 months and vice versa

      • +2

Westpac has the same cooling off for all their cards (QFF, VFF, own rewards).

From memory, only ANZ and NAB have different cooling offs for QFF and own rewards (NB: both don't have direct earn VFF like WBC does).

        • Thanks for the clarification! I've only been focusing on QFF credit cards the last 2 years so good thing I didn't get caught out with it.

  • This card still appears to be the best bang for buck on the total cost ($124) and the bonus points (70,000 QFF). Each point costs $0.00177.

$124 total cost = I'm an existing Westpac customer ($49 Annual Fee) with the Qantas Annual Fee ($75).

Anyone know of a better deal?

  • Does anyone know how to challenge your points?

I spent 5.5k this month and only got 1.3k points credited to my QFF account

    • Depends on what you spent the $5,500 on. Read the rewards T&Cs to determine if rent, bills, and rates are included.

Contact Westpac if you think there still is an error.

  • @tim9800 no i didn't use Bpay

  • Can someone confirm if paying council rates counts towards the spend requirement? Ive read a lot about whether you can earn points for these trsnsactions but not specifically about whether it would count towards the spend threshold to receive bonus points.

I closed the card via online chat and requested pro-rata refund of the $49 card fee. They reversed the whole $49.

    • How long did you have the card for before you closed it off?

I'm nearing my second statement due date and I've already met the minimum spend, will close off as soon as I get the points but I think it will be around 3 months mark for that to happen.

      • +2

        Around 4 months.

        • +1

Thanks for this. I've closed my credit card via chat and asked for refund. I've received the full $49 annual fee back :)

          • @CodeXD: Do they also refund the Qantas Rewards fee?

            • +1

@kokoikaka: No just the $49 as per my comment. Not sure how you would get the rewards fee refunded.

  • Still available, offer extended to 30th April 2024

  • +1

Can confirm Westpac provides full refund of card fee. I cancelled within one month of receiving the points and the card.

    • Did you have to request it, or was it just put into your account?

      • call them up

    • How about the Qantas fee?

    • How long did you wait for the bonus point after meeting the spending requirement? Does it works like other banks that receive when statement generated?

  • What is the $75 annual Qantas Rewards Program fee?
I was churning many cards and never saw this "membership"(?) charge… Just the CC annual fee.

    • +1

It's a Westpac fee (separate to the annual card fee) for your Altitude Platinum to earn Qantas Points instead of the standard Westpac Altitude Reward Points.

Similarly, there's a $75 fee if you want an Altitude Platinum that earns Velocity Points instead of the standard Altitude Reward Points.

      • So this card technically costs $174, and there is no way around this $75 fee?

        • +1

The annual card fee is either $49 (existing Westpac customers) or $99 in the first year only, reverting to $175 ongoing.

The annual Qantas (or Velocity) Rewards Program fee is $75.

You'll have to pay both unless you're happy with the standard Altitude Reward Points.

    Just sharing the application experience.
Applied last week, manually upload docs since my bank used for salary deposit didn't works well with Westpac automatic income verification.
After uploaded documents, no update from Westpac for few days and still get email from them asking for docs.
Ended up calling to their card application team 1300 366 867 (Only 9am-5pm), the guy on phone is helpful and ask a few questions to confirm the income documents, then told me to wait for outcome that will come within an hour.
Around 5 mins approval email received.
So if anyone needs the card asap, just call them to review it on the call.

    • Thanks for providing that phone number, I had the same experience as you when I gave them a ring. 15 minutes after I got off the phone I had approval email and a few minutes after that a digital card in the Westpac app ready to use.

  • anyone knows how long it takes for the bonus point to arrive?

    • once you reach the required spend usually they will arrive when statement is generated

      • So if I reach the spend before first statement comes it should arrive when the statement is generated? thanks

        • +1

So long as it's within your billing period, then yes.

  • $124 is a bargain for 70k Qantas points and the insurance which includes the travel insurance and the rental car excess insurance.
