Cheers. Fixed
tempted to upgrade my 6 year old Orbi AC3000 RBR50 to this to get on the Wifi 6 bandwagon
Same, but almost all my devices especially those i regularly use only support 2.4ghz and 5ghz anyway. The few that do, phones/laptops, doesn't really matter. Until that changes or it dies…. seems pointless.
Correct, most of us don't need or benefit from wifi 6 but upgrade for the sake of keeping up with technology.
The only thing I don't like about my Orbi RBR50 is the blue plastic on top of the router has become sticky to the touch and can't be made smooth again hahaTried a magic sponge? Works in most cases. But I think a similar issue happens with some gaming computer mice where it doesn't.
Why bother with wifif 6 when you can get 6e for the same price or less.
I went RBK50 to TP-link recently , hasnt skipped a beat.
Would you get the Orbi RBK762S over the Deco xe75 pro (Wifi 6E) for $489 or Deco xe75 (non-pro) for $345?
I have the RBK50, is this overkill?
After sales support on these is horrid. Hard pass
One of my biggest regretful purchases is my orbiI have had the Orbi RB50 setup for about 4 yrs and its been fantastic. Curious what issue you have?
They offer only 90 days support with the product.
So you buy it new. If you have an issue requiring any tech support they want you to PAY to raise a service ticket. Even though your within 12 months warranty. Complete RUBBISH.What kind of support? There is a wealth of information online on sites and forums that would likely be more useful than some script reading support agent.
@Xizor: lol ok mate
Good to know. That seems bonkers and I would have thought illegal?
@Chrisdh: https://kb.netgear.com/000055960/What-levels-of-warranty-and…
Where they get you is the warranty is still 12 months. But if you have a fault they want you to pay for a support ticket to diagnose!
Crooks. Will not spend a cent with them ever again.
I've had an RBK50 for about two years now. Great initially, but lot of dropouts after a few months. Google it very common issue with the Orbi's
I have had my RBK50 for six years and it is the most reliable router I have ever used. I do not need to reboot it. But of course, you also need to have a reliable ISP like Aussie BB. But this deal is very tempting because of the WI-Fi 6.
Whats the point of this when you can get TP-Link so much cheaper? GG commercial has a 3 pack of wifi 6E for $503
2 packs of 6E way cheaper than this.
You have got me looking at this model on Amazon;
TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro Mesh WiFi 6E Router, Pack of 2 for $489, reviews look good.
Not all of us can access commercial pricing on GG.I can access GG commercial and can confirm that 2 packs of 6E is $345. 3 pack of 6E is $503. but they are not Pro version. no XE75 Pro version available on GG commercial
Rollover some super, even just the minimum amount to ART super and you get access
I'm not with ART super or any other member organisation, was thinking of moving back to Origin Energy from Red Energy, this may be the easiest way for me to get TGGC pricing.
Only difference between pro and normal is the extra 2.5Gbps Ethernet, if you dont have internet faster than 1Gbps then its useless so dont worry about it. i.e. Good to havbe the extra port but for most people makes no practical difference.
But if connected to a NAS or plex server, it would make a difference?
Yes local file transfer speeds would be greater than 1gbps but that would be a very niche use case.
Might be worthwhile being an early adopter and getting this WiFi 7 model?
TP-Link BE11000 Whole Home Mesh WiFi 7 System, 11 Gbps Tri-Band WiFi, MLO, 320 MHz Channels, Works on the 6 GHz Band (Deco BE65(2-pack))
