  • Does the power adapter accept 230-240V mains or would a transformer be required?

  • Here's the direct link to the latest NEON device APK (no idea if it will work on the MK808):
    http://xbmc-android.googlecode.com/files/xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a…

If that doesn't work, please try the non NEON APK:

So… does the power adapter accept 230-240V mains or would a transformer be required?

    • It's powered by a 5 volt mini USB cable, so any 1 amp AC to USB adapter would work, eg: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251152…

As for the power adapter that comes with it, it's a US style plug and so useless here anyways.

      • These days a lot of us already have US/AU adapters. Do you or the rep have any idea if the mains USB adapter here can handle 240V?

      • Dont bother with the supplied 1A USB adapter use a 2A adapter instead, there are reports that the supplied 1A adapter is not enough for the MK808.

  • REALLY close to buying one of these!

Personally I am still looking for something that has either wired LAN capability or Bluetooth. Something that came with both would be an instant purchase. I know that you can use a USB hub to add an ethernet port but I've heard that it won't recognize Bluetooth dongles… does anyone have any more information on that?

    • you could try a miniand hackberry, those have wired lan though no bt, but you can do a usb dongle

    • I used the UG802 with a $3 USB LAN adapter and it worked fine, as this is based on the same architecture you should have no issues. Bluetooth however I'm not sure of.

    • From the reviews, it seems like this device is the BEST so far among its HDMI Android stick family. Wired LAN is possible using a cheap adapter…and bluetooth compatibility is possible using a Bluetooth dongle.

      I wish I hadn't bought a MK802+ and had bought it instead.

why dont these things come with a Damn Remote control… A TV tuner would be nice as well… that way you could record onto them…
any why arent they powered of the 5V that HDMI provides (*though im not sure if the TV provides it or receives it - or via one of the USB ports in the TV!)

anyone know if something like this could stream blu ray rips?

You don't ask for much!! lol

For all of that stuff, you're better off building a proper HTPC.

This device can be powered up using USB port of your TV…. and good thing is that when you switch off your TV, the device switches off as well !

I agree with on the TV tuner option….. With the sizes of TV tuners available these days, wish some Chinese company could squeeze in the chip into it….that would make it a multi-purpose device ….

      • I would hazard a guess that maybe on-the-fly encoding of TV shows would be a little too much to handle for this thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm curious how it runs XBMCBuntu, though.

  • The new wifi sounds good, I'm still trying to return three UG802s to lightake that I bought at their last post unfortunately. They had wifi problems. Good devices though when they worked. From all accounts the MK808 should be good if they fixed it!

  • any review on this thing?
Basically it turns your tv into a huge android pad, is that correct?

    • Somewhat. Controlling it is PITA. you can purchase separate controller. Do an Ebay search on "Mini 2.4G Wireless Flying Mouse Keybaord for Andriod Google Smart TV Box Dongle". Earlier models had issues with wifi as mentioned already.

      • You might also want to search ebay for "Rii mini android"

Do not buy UG802 as Its plagued with bugs.
1: Wifi does not connect most of the time
    2: Without wifi its useless
    3: I wish I never bought it
    4: blah blah laadiiidaaa
    5: It overheats and freezes
6: Has Sync issues with sound in videos
7: Lightake took nearly a month to send me this crap
8: Lightake knows about these problems yet they still sell you this faulty device
    9: Im drunk
10: Do I need to say more?

    • Any luck returning yours? I'm waiting for a 'professional' response for three I bought from Lightake!!

      • No but i found solution to the problem. I used finless 1.4 custom rooted rom here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?1661-ug802-Android-mi…
Then I used Apple Ipad 10w Usb 2.1A charger and now it detects wifi without any problems. The crappy usb power adaptor is the problem in my case as it wasn't providing the right amount of juice this unit requires.

Try using usb adaptor that has higher than 2A. Maybe our phone chargers like the galaxy s3 might be enough to power it. I haven't tried it though.

Also the video sync issues are still present and it still overheats sometimes.

I take back some of the rant above but Lightake need to get their quality control under check as this is abysmal because not all people are tech savvy to resolve these issues on their own.

  • Do these things have the ability to decode DTS audio yet?

I was thinking about this last night - these things need to have CEC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Electronics_Control#CE…)..

It would then be pretty much the most epic device on the planet! :)

    • yeah but the only problem is that is that CEC is a feature smart TVs have which pretty much reduces the need for one of these devices on it.

  • Do they support external hard disk like a media player? If so is 32gb the limit?

  • Could I make this be an extension of my PC's monitor?

  • Anyone gotten theirs yet? I'm still waiting.

    • I ordered from lightake, but it took too long, so cancelled and bought from geekbuying, which qas also slow, butgot it last week, was also good to get the 2A power supply.
