how is it spam? completely uncalled for neg, Mr Pc Geek is just posting one of their products that they believe to be a good deal and it is a fairly decent deal at that.

      • -5

spam because it isn't a good price

spec up a comparable system at MSY or PCCG and it is under $500

EDIT: and it is only $20 less than their normal price

How does one test a PC for 'performance' and 'stability' sans an operating system?

    Please don't say 'Beep' test.

    • +3

We preinstall Windows 7 and run graphics test such as Heaven Benchmark which we leave for overnight testing. Also run Memtest 86+ for a period of time. Once its pass our testing we uninstall Windows and ship to you.

  • 1333Mhz Ram? does Ivy come with 1600Mhz??

    • +6

Yes it does support 1600Mhz RAM. Tell you what. We will upgrade you to a 1600Mhz RAM for FREE.

  • My 2 cents -
    1. You could run that system off a 450w psu or less, but decent entry level psu's start at 430w. So i'd want to know what case/psu id be getting. 620w is way overkill. Cheap generic psu's arent worth the plastic they're made of.
    2. 1600mhz ram is under 50 bucks now and is the norm.

    thats more like 20c worth.

    • Using Honli ATX Smart Case and 620W Honli PSU.

      • How much would it cost to upgrade, what PSU/Cases do you also have?

    • +2

The PSU would be overkill if it were actually a 620W PSU. It's probably not. It's likely a sub-300W through 12V rail PSU.

So it's likely it's wattage is actually appropriate.

However it's also likely to use cheap components and be missing filtering stages that'd make it more reliable.

  • Far out bought one from Orange IT for near $1000 with similar specs except a better motherboard (z77), Thermaltake TR2 PSU, keyboard/mouse and Monitor. GRRRR. Wish this came earlier :D

  • This is a pretty good deal, but as mentioned elsewhere please detail the PSU.

    • +2

a Honli 620W… which is a rebadged yumcha psu that sells for about the same price as SHAWs (ie ~$30)

  • Dont get too caught up on the PSU. It's part of what makes this a budget PC.

You can say "but a better part would be nice, or only cost a little more" on almost all the components… next thing you know it, its not a cheap pc anymore.

And, if you don't like it, the ad clearly states (twice, even!): "We build CUSTOM PC’s to suit your needs. Ask us for a quote today!"

  • Will this be quiet at all to run? Or a little noisy?

    • That depends on the case & PSU, which is a generic brand so it's unlikely anyone here (other than the vendor) has experience with them. It's a bit of a coin toss, although even cheaper cases/PSUs these days aren't quite quiet compared to what they were 5+ years ago.

    • +1

It's quiet in our view. The noise is maybe coming for the PSU fan but this is using a 120mm fan. Have seen ones with 80mm fan which are quiet noisy.

        LOL @ "QUIET NOISY"

      • Hmm okay. I bough a Medion from Aldi a couple of years ago and those were REALLY silent..love them! I've just had trouble sleeping with some custom made ones..they are really loud. Guess no way to really find out unless you buy one.
