Couldn't this be a horrible mattress which we wouldn't find out until purchased?

I need a new mattress but this seems risky.

memory foam also got the grade, we need to test it before we purchase it

when I bought an ergoflex (ergoflex.com.au) off the internet, I did a lot of reading, and found they were comparable to a certain type of matress-store stocked memory foam mattress. so i went to the store and tried out that equivalent.

thing is, all mattress purchases are risky, because unless you're willing to spend a few hours in a store lying on each of their mattresses, you won't really be able to get an idea of what it would be like to sleep on for a whole night.

I found this thread useful for helping me decide:
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1465965

  • Do you guys think this is comparable to the Ergoflex range or would I be better off getting an ergoflex for ~$400 more?

    • skim the ergoflex thread, read the ergoflex website for description of it's construction (how many layers of what density memory foam, etc), and that should give you some idea. I haven't read anything about these Cudo ones, so can't give any advice other than to make sure you do your research.

I'd go for the ergoflex. I have one and bought it without trying it out…and it turns out i love it!! The reason why i'd go for the ergoflex is that they come with a 10year warranty and a lot of testimonies to back them up. Cudo hasn't even released the brand of the mattress (so you cant even look up reviews) whilst providing the following disclaimer 'This product is not manufactured, supplied or sold by Cudo. This product is promoted on the Cudo Website on behalf of a third party.'.

You can't look up the credibility of the seller, or even chase them up if there is a problem. If the mattress blows up after three months, cudo will wash their hands clean of this venture and say that its not their problem. My 2 cents.

  • hmmmm, random foam mattress for 479$ is not a bargain …

    • memory foam is structurally quite different to regular foam. so, it could be that these ones are terrible, but they might be good. do you now something about he quality that we don't know? references, links?

      • +1

I think the fact that we don't know ANYTHING about it is the reason for the neg. I think the fact that cudo hasn't released any details of the manufacturer is more than enough reason for a neg.

        • hmmmm, random foam mattress for 479$ is not a bargain …

I do not know if this is a bargain or not…. If I knew it was a piece of crap, I would neg it….. If I knew it was the best mattress ever, I would pos it…. As it stands, I and presumably others, do not know…. therefore the appropriate vote is the neutral vote.

Voting based on 'hunches' or 'feelings' are really not helpful to the community as it gives no information about the product…. just information about the poster.

I think the fact that we don't know ANYTHING about it is the reason for the neg.

          From the site

      but you're saving $2550!! :)

There are many products that you should buy cheaper online - but then there are a few that are incredibly personal purchases (not in the sense that they should be kept private but in the sense that you are the only person that knows exactly what you are after).

So for those that don't care if they sleep on a hardwood floor or in a bath tub then these mattress's probably aren't for you, for the rest of us don't buy an inferior no name product without knowing its maker or trying it.

So if you are interested in a mattress like this then go down to your nearest supplier and try them out because not all memory foam is created equal the same way that just because a microwave oven is a microwave oven that doesn't mean that they are all the same.

    • Do you have this mattress?

      • +2

If I did have a memory foam mattress which I don't, I couldn't know since the manufacturers details haven't been released.

Generally when a products name or manufacturer has not been released it's for a reason. Why are you defending these guys?

If I had a 3 seat leather couch that I claim is worth $8999 but I offered it on here without a brand or name so people can research for $599 it would be neg'd because how can you prove a discount without a reference and just saying it's a 3 seat leather couch doesn't mean it's a quality product and that's the reason this deserves a neg.

        • Why are you defending these guys?

I am defending the posting of deals….. and the appropriate use of the voting system

You do not know if this is a good deal or a bad deal……
Your negging of the deal means you think it is a bad deal….. but what is it that you are trying to tell us about the deal that makes it bad?? (other than you think it's bad).
Just because a person thinks it is a bad deal, does not necessarily make it a bad deal. (I think expensive whiskey is a bad deal…. but it could be great for others, so it would be inappropriate for me to neg a whiskey deal, unless I knew it was cheaper elsewhere)

Generally when a products name or manufacturer has not been released it's for a reason.

It could be that this is an 'OEM' manufacturer for dunlop, sealy, or any other mattress retailer…… I don't know….. and presumably neither do you…..

        • Your kidding right?
It could be that they are an OEM manufacturer for Dunlop, dearly or any other mattress retailer….

It could be that the rocks in my garden were brought back by NASA from their trips to the moon, not bloody likely though.
As with all deals on OzBargain it's merit should be based on comparrison and value.

We cannot judge the value of the product side by side with another comparable model of another manufacturer because it's online and we don't know the name of the manufacturer.

So since we don't know the true value and can't compare quality my opinion was given that something as personal as a bed should only be purchased if the consumer can test and try said bed.

This is not such an amazing deal that it's worth taking a risk in my opinion (which is what the plus/negative section of OzBargain is all about, it's a community based opion hence why some deals get very similar plus/negatives because it is the opinion of the user).

So you believe that someone shouldn't be allowed to plus/neg a deal because adequate information hasn't been provider by the person trying to sell the product (not an attack at OP).

Are you associated with Cudo or the mattress manufacturer?

        • This is not such an amazing deal that it's worth taking a risk in my opinion (which is what the plus/negative section of OzBargain is all about,

          no… it isn't….

While you’re more than welcome to express your personal opinion against a deal, this alone should not be used as a reason to vote negative.

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

          Also…

We cannot judge the value of the product side by side with another comparable model of another manufacturer because it's online and we don't know the name of the manufacturer.

Correct…. may be better then other models, may be worse…. neither you nor I know… yet you choose to neg

So since we don't know the true value and can't compare quality my opinion was given that something as personal as a bed should only be purchased if the consumer can test and try said bed.

Indeed…. sensible comment…. however, you chose to add a neg based upon that opinion…. however…. as I'm sure you are aware from your reading of the guidelines….

Many people dont like a deal, and want others to know about some issues they have with the deal, as evidenced by the comments made about a deal when they negatively vote. The IRONY for you to consider is that if a deal gets a number of negative votes, it is removed from most visitors screens. So your considered comments go as well.

If deals are to be removed from my screen, I want to know they are based on factual information….. not opinions

  • I'm guessing it's another deal like http://cudo.com.au/nationwide-offers/the-future-has-arrived-…

They order cheapo beds from alibaba.com and resell. I think it was half the price cudo were selling for. I can't find this exact matress on the site though.

I definitely would not trust cudo with bedding!

  • 45D is very low density foam, only suitable for kids or jockeys.
