5G Mobile Plans That Still Allow Maximum Speed

What plans still exist, either prepaid or postpaid, that allow users to get the maximum available download speed on the relevant 5G network? Most are capped at 100, 150 or 250Mbps.

To start, Optus' postpaid plans run at uncapped speeds (not that I love the idea of signing up right now). Surely that's not the only option?

  • Vodafone prepaid 365 days plan

    • I'd definitely be trying that with a smaller sim before committing. It would be largely dependent on area and and where you go.

I did Vodafone prepaid for a month and found the speeds and network availability to be less than Boost.

    • Shame their coverage is still crap at many regional places.

      • Even in some suburbs you can't get coverage, I remember I had to go to the Asquith industrial zone in northern Sydney and Vodafone had no signal in the valley there, whilst even Telstra Wholesale works fine.

My Covid booster has given me 5G for free

    • The question was about 5G speeds, so your joke should be about 5G speeds as well.

      • Maybe it was, and they thought that it was redundant to mention the speed in their comment.

      • His/her sense of humour is still 2G

  • Telstra's medium and above data plans say they are "uncapped download speed".

I'm on the Telstra $35 prepaid plan capped at 150mbps but speedtests seem to go well over 300mbps

      • Wow you're right, my $35 Boost plan is supposed to be capped at 150Mbps, but I just got 288Mbps. Nice!

  • fyi

my vodafone 5G plan gives me a 200ms lag to my home vpn server. Meanwhile Aldi mobile 60ms

  • Just ran the speed test on my Telstra phone … 333/39 right now. I think I've seen it push toward 500 download on other occasions.

  • I am on vodafone postpaid and can get more than 400mbps in 5g areas on iphone. Haven't tried with a good cat20 modem.

    • Interesting, I didn't realise they still sold maximum speeds even on prepaid. The coverage map seems to paint a rosy picture of 5G availability, I remember it used to lag behind even Optus, is that still the case? (For 5G only… I know it still lags behind overall)
