St George is Westpac group, their reward system is messed up, you might end up not getting the bonus points if you're existing customer and have held this altitude/amplify type of card before. They even told me they still see my card is active from 2016, which I already closed in 2017.

      Their T&C

*Amplify Platinum Bonus Amplify Points Offer: The bonus Amplify Points promotion is available when you apply and are approved for a new Amplify Rewards Platinum credit card between 7th November 2023 and 30th April 2024, and spend the minimum amount of $3,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval in one or more transactions. Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash, or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus Amplify Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks of the eligible spend criteria being met.

So its safe if you've held Westpac Altitude card.

I believe St George, Bank SA and Bank Mel are considered as in the same bank when applied, as Westpac are not.

I cancelled my Westpac card in Mar and got the bonus point from BankSA last month.

    • +1

Westpac is not in the same group.

Amplify only applies to Bank of Melbourne, St George and BankSA

First year annual fee is waived for existing customer

Where are you getting this info?

      • +1

If you clicked the deal link it literally says "Already with St.George? Sign in and apply to get no card fee for the first year (reverts to $124)***."

        • omg. how the f I miss read that. I though that would be some crap copy, not even notice. So the game plan is, sign up for net banking first, get any debit card account first ($0 fee) and then sign up for this Credit card. boom. I just lost $49 for misread tiny detail. Thanks mate.

Nah. St george group (Bank of Melbourne) is a big mess.

Signed up exact deal like this last year. Never received bonus points. Velocity 15% comes up and missed that. Then received 90,000 points only? email and asked. they claimed they never do 100,000. I showed them evidence that pre covid was 130,000, and 2022 was 100,000 (The year i signed up) and also show them OzBargain deal, they said no valid. they said no eventually, How rude

    • Wait. You got 90,000 instead of 100,000 ? So it only $50 different as they not honour the promo?

  • -1

    any airport lounge benefits?

  • +2

This promo is now better than the equivalent Westpac Altitude Platinum which just dropped to 90k bonus this month.

Reminder that it's better value to redeem the Annual Fee Rebate instead of gift cards. Which makes it more around $500 profit

      • Yes, check link above (Assuming it hasn't changed)

  • For anyone with St George, what’s the transfer rate wrt KrisFlyer, Velocity, other airline partners? How much does 100,000 equate to?

    • +1

  • You'll still be eligible for this one even if you hold thr amplify qantas, right?

  • Keep getting errors when signing up with their freedom everyday account. It always happen right after clicking on the SMS verification.
Does anyone having the same issue?

    • Me too. Tried five times now. Finally giving up. Will try again tomorrow.

    • Yes I was having problems on multiple devices, until I opened the session in a private browser and then was able to sign up without issues.

Everytine I finish a card, the bonus goes up. Just closed this one last week after receiving 90k points after 2 months! It now goes up to 100k.
Last time I finished Suncorp 100k and my gf opened straight after with 120k points!

  • How much does 100k points equivalent to cashback? Can the points be redeemed as cash to lower the spending?

    • From the application page

For example, 11,100 Amplify Points currently gets you a $50 e-gift card from a range of merchants such as David Jones, Myer, JB Hi-Fi, Bunnings and others<.

So I guess 100k points is about $450 in vouchers.

    • I got my 100K points. How can we redeem the points back to cash on the app/desktop version? I know we can redeem for gift cards.

      • Can you? Did you find out?

        • No, I don't think we can redeem the points to cash. The only option is to redeem as gift card.

      • How long from hitting spend did it take to get the points?

        • Fairly quick. Less than a week.

        • Were in the Amplify account the day after the last transaction to meet the spend requirement went from pending to confirmed.

  • Anyone successful with getting a pro-rata refund for a St George card recently?

    • This is free for existing customer. You expecting them to pay you to use their card?

  • Can this be converted to Asia Miles (Cathay)?

  • For those who applied, how did it take for someone to contact you? I applied mid past week, uploaded required documents and have not heard anything back. Their sms facility only responded with a generic reply too.

    • I am an existing St George Bank customer, I applied for the credit card on a Sunday, and received it in the mail on the following Friday. It took less than a week.

Once I submitted my application, I received a text message to say the credit card was conditionally approved. I then had to verify my details. They sent another text message 7 minutes after that to say the application was approved.

  • Thanks applied and approved

  • Applied today as an existing St George customer. Sounds like a free ~$500!

  • Just got rejected for credit card application for the very first time, when applying for this. Pretty sure my income including pay and rental income is way more than my monthly expenses and loan repayments, but the guy said the system is coming back as not having enough surplus for me to service this card. Pretty disappointed.

  • Painless and very fast sign up process for this one. Had an old transaction account so no annual fee and some details pre filled.

Received conditional approval, verified details and was approved less than a minute later.

I've churned through Virgin, NAB and Westpac cards in the last few months so doesn't seem like churning is too big of an issue as far as approvals go. My personal history with St George is also pretty bad (went bankrupt about 9yrs ago and owed them ~$15K) so I did not really expect to be approved at all lol.

  • +3

Hit the 3k spend and got the points pretty quickly.

    Spent 91300 points on $279 + $124 + $99 annual fee rebates.

These amounts have been credited to my card. $502 for free! (existing customer so first annual fee waived).

    • How long after redeeming did it take for the annual fee rebates to be credited?

      • Answering own q - redeemed on Wednesday, credited following Tuesday.

  • 15/06 Applied and approved within minutes of uploading docs
    01/07 Hit spend requirement
02/07 Amplify points arrived and transferred to Velocity
03/7 Velocity points arrived in account and card closed
No annual fee as I was already a customer.

If only they were all this quick and easy.
