description updated -

aliexpress have this pretty interesting deal.

buy at least 3 items from $3.14 each (US$1.99) and get free delivery

I bought a bunch of USB fast chargers.

once you have bought the item then the item appears as "sold out" at this price and appears to have at least doubled, if not tripled, in price (I checked feedback from buyers before buying and no feedback had said that they were not fast chargers).

also , the recommended similar products are considerably more expensive e.g. by 50%. so the discount of this deal is pretty decent.

the item reappears as available a few days later - i have repurchased a few items from my first order

plenty of other items that are significantly discounted.

you have to scroll down the list to find what you want. though you can choose the approximate category of product - e.g. home appliances, beauty, tech, as well as the price point

some items i've purchased at discount price vs "regular price"

e.g. the wifi repeater I paid $8.51 for is now longer offered at that price and is up to $11.97
or the Universal QC3.0 Fast Charging Dual USB charger I paid $3.14 for is now $8.97.

the order I made on 3-11-2023 has a Estimated delivery of Nov 14 - Nov 21

tracking info states it is currently about to leave the china.

I've been buying from Aliexpress since 2010, I've made about 1,500 orders. aliexpress is part of the ali group. it's huge. bigger than amazon and ebay.
I made this post in 2016 discussing aliexpress, and how to use the site. it's had a few updates but requires a complete over haul as the site has changed - e.g. search functionality, deals, coupons, etc.

  • its 3 for $1.99 before

    • still is for the US market, but I think they get different things.

I'm quite happy to get a bluetooth transmitter, or a usbc cable with power display, or 200 velco cable ties and only pay $3 a piece. To me thats a bargain

It was from US $1.79 yesterday, glad I got a shop in. But this buy 3 for $1.99/1.79 (sale) is an everyday normal on the Choice section

    • First of every month. Nice extra discount if you have a few things you want to get

      • Oh I didn't realise that! Now I know haha thanks

  • +1

yeah…have been trying some of these lately. cheap tech & miscellanous wares…some good, some not so good.
i try to spend less than $5 per item so the risk is mitigated somewhat…

OP…once you select an item its labelled as 'SOLD OUT' for you only…theres still plenty of stock available
its to stop you buying muliples so dont get sucked in…aliexpress uses a lot of tricks!

  • +8

    also a headsup….
gst is being charged at 20% for some unknown reason on the 'choice products/3 from 1.99' deal page…..check your shopping cart on checkout!

    • +2

I asked support and they said they charge 10% and support escalated the issue and till now no response from them.

    • +1

Same with super deals. Seems it charges on the full price.

    • +2

Yes I wondered about that. But for some reason, my orders would use to show each us$1.99 item as $5-6.xx after I paid. And when I got a refund for some items, I got it at the weird inflated price.

Just checked my closed orders page and now each item price reflects what I paid but I checked my refunded item, paid $2.81 and got refunded $6.05

      • i noticed that as well. price for two items jumped up a bit. fortunately i noticed before the order shipped and just cancelled the whole order

        • Ive always only been charged the price of when I checked out though even when I pay on delivery. But one of the items that I paid $5.47 for , I'm raising a dispute and the refund price is set at $12.xx. pretty good considering i paid $22 for 5 items

    • +1

This has been a peeved of mine for ages, cheap items always seem to attract more than 10% gst but expensive items not. Maybe it's choice items or super discounts items or something else, not even reddit knows.

    • +2

Yeah, I also noticed that GST was not 10% of my order total. I checked and noticed that GST is charged at the full price for my order. If you go to your Order, then go to Order Details and download the invoice, you'll see that GST is calculated at 10% of the full price.

Also another thing to be aware of, or at least that happened to me is, an item I added for $USD1.99 was for some reason charge at full price. The checkout total for the whole order was say $USD10, Paypal payment also said $USD10, but after I click pay the amount that was taken was $USD11.51. WTF? And when I checked my order, I noticed an item was not $USD1.99 but was instead charged at $USD3.50. I ask the seller, seller said talk to AliExpress, aliexpress said maybe tax, maybe transaction fee, maybe promo finish (even tho all other $USD1.99 item was fine) etc. All kinds of excuse under the sun. Then say ask the seller after 10 days from order, did that seller say talk to aliexpress, etc. Wasted hours back and forth cause they pass the buck between seller and aliexpress. Needless to say I gave up. During one of the chat I also said to the live aliexpress agent, so does that mean I never know how much I'm going to pay for an item? Naturally they didn't answer and gave one of those dodgy excuse of promo has probably ended. Just thought I'd say as a buyer beware.
Not sure if anyone had experienced this before and/or know a way that you can stop Paypal from paying, letting sellers, take more than the amount shown when you click the confirm payment?

      • +1

If you see my comment above, the amount I paid reflects the price I chose at the time, but the order page after shows an inflated price. The good thing about it is that if you get a refund, it's on the inflated price not what you paid :) I got $6.05 back on a $2.81 item

This deal is on everyday. There’s usually lower prices

  • +2

It's an amazing deal. It's been running since last year, although it was only recently that they opened it up to the desktop site. Strangely, every time it gets posted it only gets a handful of upvotes. I think it's too big for most people to wrap their heads around, because they'll upvote something like this which you can find in this deal since the start

I think it's been marvellous. I must have spent about $300 on things since the beginning, and I check back every month because the range changes constantly

    • because they'll upvote something like this

Especially when Baseus cables are rebadges at a higher price and often have QC issues.

  • Totally disapponted with AliExpress support. I bought a drill adapter last month. The received items didn't match the descriptions. I asked for return and refund but the seller refused to pay return fee. AliExpress support didn't say a word, just provided virtual responses from their webpage. I am now avoid to buy products from AliExpress. A couple of times the received products are junk, quality far from the description. Very annoying to buy products from AliExpress.

    • Have to go with the reviews, although the reviewers have varying standards it better than going on the description alone.

    • I always submit as "Not as described" and send pics or video showing issue. Have always been refunded if faulty or offered heavy discount and keep item with option to return at sellers expense. I only ever purchase "Choice" marked items. Not sure if that assures better service?

  • There were no reviews neither on the product nor seller. Anyway, don't really trust the reviews at all. I sent out bad reviews on different platforms before. Not most of them were posted. Even on Google maps, they just didn't publish it. The reliability is about 50% probably. Sad to say that.

  • Picked out like 7 things and they were all unavailable!

    • It only works for me when i use vpn - Surfshark.

  • Very nice deal! Cant go wrong with $3 wireless headphones lol. They look exactly the same as the ones I bought a couple of years ago for $20 on Amazon

    • Might be handy as trade in with Samsung App i.e. wireless headphones are an option so having a crap cheap pair in drawer might be useful one day :-).

  • These are great deals, is it possible to search for items that fall under this deal? Seems like they just have endless scrolling in the app and you have to hope you find your products

    • +1

      Endless scrolling.

      • +2

…and gets slower and slower to load as one goes further down. It's hours of fun wondering what will show up next.
It's like a lucky bag hoping something amazing will show up on next scroll…hahaha!

  • i just keep getting "This product is no longer available" but it wont tell me what item isn't avalible? removing items one by one and rechecking the page they show up again???

    • its worth realising aliexpress site is pretty shit with lots of errors…
if on desktop try it on mobile or try another browser

  • +1

    $1.79 atm!

  • is it just me or does the whole page grinds to a halt when you scroll down several times (using firefox).

also there's no search function. it is just plain frustrating to use

    • I get further with chrome.
yeah, no search function - that sucks.
but it's not an endless scroll. it does actually stop. after 20 pages or so.

i select a category to reduce the # of listings.

  • +1

It is annoying trying to scroll through the list to find something you want, these are what I've bought and think will be useful to share with everyone. Keep a look out when scrolling through the list. I've linked it with the sourcetype for this promotion, but it won't let you add to cart.

Essager 4 in 1 USB C To USB C Cable PD 60W Fast Charging Data Cord for iPhone Xiaomi Type C Micro Cable With Holder Storage Box

    • You get a 60W short C-C cable with several attachments for all your charging needs, also comes with sim card pin!

Portable Earphone Cleaning Pen Keyboard Cleaning Brush Bluetooth Earphone Cleaning Pen Clean Earplugs Dirt Brush

    • While it can clean earbuds and keyboards, I've also used it for mobile phones (especially in between the camera lens) and cleaned misc items. There are a few variants available as part of this deal, I think one of them even has a built in spray? So keep a look out depending on functionality.

200pcs Dental Floss and Plastic Toothpicks for One-time Cleaning of Dental Gaps-Oral Care

    • I can see options for 2 bags 200 or 4 bags 200, I don't think it will matter what you pick as you will end up with 200pc anyway, either 2 x 100 or 4 x 50.

Toothpaste Squeezer Tooth Paste Holder Oral Care Bathroom Tools Tube Cosmetics Press Facial Cleanser Rolling Squeezing Dispenser

    • I bought this from a previous deal, not sure if it is still available this time around. This has been really useful to squeeze out the very last of toothpaste.

    • Nice sling bag for those whose EDC won't fit in just pockets.
  • Has anyone else noticed Aliexpress calculates GST inccorectly and charge too much on these $1.99 deals. Here is my list at check out.

    Summary
    Total item costs US $22.91
    Total shipping Free
    Tax US $3.89

    Total
    US $26.80

Is it me or is this more than 10% GST, seems more like 14.5%. Who is getting the extra funds?

    • +1

Gst is charged on pre-discounted price. It is wrong and I've contacted aliexpress about it, they dgaf.

      • Wow that is very illegal! We need to let the ato know. And avoid harvey norman while we are it for the stupid gst on small imports too!

    • +1

Okay so after nearly an hour on chat with aliexpress, the long story short is they will look into it. The end of the conversation went:

Aliex: I am truly sorry for the inconvenience. I sincerely hope your problem will be solved as soon as possible.

Me: alright, I will chat again in a few days and fully expect to see a policy change and refunds being back dated now that you know that you are breeching Australian Tax laws.

Aliex: According to Australia GST rule, from 1 July 2018, Australian goods and services tax (GST) 10% will apply to each order valued at A$1,000 or less, and AliExpress is required by law to collect such GST and remit to Australian Taxation Office.

Me: That is correct - but you are calculating at 14.5% in the 3+ fr $1.99 category!
Summary Total item costs US $22.91 Total shipping Free Tax US $3.89 Total US $26.80
$3.89 is not 10% of $22.91. That is what I have been saying all along.

Aliex: I see, that's why I will record it here so that they can check and fix it asap

      Me: Good. 10% of 22.91 is $2.29 not $3.89.

Aliex: I totally understand, thank you so much for letting us know it

Me: I will check back and expect to see Aliexpress has made the legal correction and refunded all previous over calculations.
I'm sure Aliexpress values all it's Australian customers.

Aliex: Thank you for your kind understanding on this.
Do not worry your case has been already documented on our end, from now on I will count on this matter and hope that you will get a positive result as you have already brought this to our attention.

      • So let's see if they follow through.
      • My guess is that they will. The issue is with future purchases. I have seen this (like others) and also questioned it (when bothered) and they always come through.

      • Would be interesting to know if they pass the overcharge to ATO or pocket it.
My guess is they won't do anything about it because they probably pocket it, is not just Australia, I've seen people from other countries complain on reddit

  • Just be aware, double check GST charged in your order. AliExpress tends to over-charge on tax.
I got charged 17.5% for GST and their customer support is like a muppet (ChatGPT may be smarter).

    • +2

Aliexpress is dogshit when it comes to GST calculation.

They charge GST based on the item's original cost - not the discounted. So it is in your best interest to find $1.99 / $1.79 items where the original cost is as low as possible but is still the item that you want. I've seen several of the same/similar product with different original price in this promo.

  • I just bought 2 rubber watch straps & bike grips (US$1.99 + GST each) via Digitaling Store with free shipping.

It was much cheaper than other stores & even their own store if you look at the listing here… US$3.10.

    Great deal!!!
