Got this in 2018 maybe. Have absolutely flogged it running a commercial cleaning business ie: 40 mops plus hundreds of microfibre towels each week.

    Highly recommended + German made

    • +4

Do you clean in a white linen shirt, jocks and ray bans?

    • +1

Why is German made an advatage?

      • +3

It’s the quality of materials and engineering. Use a Samsung (as I do at the moment) and you know it is not built for longevity but for a price. I have relatives in Austria with German laundry machine that has worked for decades. When it needed a fix several years ago, they had it repaired rather than dispose and buy another cheapie. Buy once, cry once.

There is a saying, also promoted by Steve Jobs who liked Miele, that their laundry machines are gentler on clothes and the latter would last longer because of it. That was awhile back though and LG and others for example has come along way with all these new features, not to mention a lot of european products including AEG and lower end Bosch are manufactured in China now.

      • +1

Bosch has two manufacturing locations: Germany and Thailand. The Thai models are not bad but made with budget in mind.

Plus, Germany has a very high reputation on build quality, parts and QA.

    • +2

From memory there are two versions, one german made and thai (Could be some other Asian country). I bought the German made during the pandemic and it is going very well. You can open it any time in the cycle to add more clothing which is great feature.

      • The Serie8 is made in Germany. There are other Serie - ie 4, 6, etc. Some are from Thailand, maybe Turkey and the Serie4 I believe is made in China?

        • Some was being made in Spain for a while. Bosch probably have different factories around for different products but this is a very good model. Gets good reviews. Have seen it in the mid to high $900-$1100 - 2021 there was a six month wait on this model.

Most European Washers only take cold water feeds, so hope you have Solar to power the heater and despite one short-ish cycle - most cycles are long - 8KG feels small with a full load but having Bosch series 8 oven and Series 6 dishwasher which were both made in Germany, over a series 4 gas cooktop from Spain which is the biggest load of junk except it has nice solid steel burner grates, but the burner lids are rubbish and I would never buy series 4 again now I know what to look for except Labor in VIC want us all off gas - you think they might know that the gas is running out in Bass Straight?

The Bosch series 6 dishwasher is so quiet you can barely hear it and tte series 8 oven so glad I bought a pyrolytic model for cleaning but you can’t clean the racks and trays that way - wish there was some easy way to clean the oven racks and trays with baked on grease and other crud from food.

Bosch front loader is on my list but they aren’t cheap and if you don’t have a stand, front loaders on the floor are not good for ppl with bad back. Seems the stands which get them about 400mm off the ground add $200 onto the price. Also have to learn to spin dry clothes at different speeds. Pure cotton doesn’t like 1200RPM - it’s creased as crap - lots of lessons to learn if like me have been using top loaders which are small % of market now but impeller blades almost gone - washes clothes completely differently. So hard to decide which way to go.

  • +1

Bought one in February. Excellent machine!

    • +2

how much you pay young man?

      • +1

        $1100

  • +2

I bought this in 2016 and it’s still running very nicely

    • Same with a similar price, very good one.

  • I thought Appliances Online were pretty good. I wonder why their eBay rating is so low.

    • +6

I've used Appliances Online tonnes, and have nothing but great experiences.

  • Have one. Absolutely love it. I got mine through a dodgy site (ShopZero) for under $700. (Was brand new and delivered via GG Commerical).

  • +1

I think this is eligible for the QLD $300 rebate too?

    • This is 4-star, so why not?

  • What's OZB's favourite washing machine at around $500 mark? I think this one is quite big for only two people.

    • +4

to be honest, we bought the 9kg model a couple of years ago (for 2 of us) and I wouldn't really want anything smaller.

Having said that, I don't know if the drum is smaller on the 8kg or if it's just the weight that the motor is rated to work at so may be worth confirming.

      • +4

I have checked specs and drum size. Drum size for 8kg, 9kg are same. e.g. Even the 9kg WAW28620AU with iDos also has same drum size of 65litre.
When you go to 10kg machines, drum size increases to 70L.

    • +1

I have a different Bosch 8kg (2ppl). I wish I bought a bigger one. This size will be the minimum for two unless you do not sweat and don’t change clothes often.

    • +7

You can wash small loads in a big machine (it adjusts the water amount), but you can't wash big loads in a small machine - ie large bedding.

      • Good point, thanks.

If you manage to get it for that price.

    • +2

8kg is not big, lol, let alone for two people. It's the bare minimum you should get TBH, even for just one person living alone. I have a 7kg washing machine and bedding and linen is a challenge already, it fills up real quick.

      • +1

I was under impression that my current one is around 5kg, turned out it's actually 7kg, so you are right.

      • +1

Yes, agreed. It looks like Bosch has retired smaller sizes now and the smallest is 8kg.

  • Thanks bought one lol

  • I think they’re gone. Won’t let me check out

  • +1

Highly recommend it, loved my series 8 so much, very silent and cleans extremely well.
Unlike the more expensive Electrolux dryer which is already making a clanking noise after one year of drying one people's clothes.

    • +2

You're conflating the issue mate, I have a 10 year old 8kg Electrolux that got abused with at least 120% capacity load every second day but still refuses to die. I'm trying to make excuses to get a newer bosch to match but it just doesn't budge

  • +1

Great price and great machine, paid $1,000 in 2018. It's about $1,150 in today's money.

This machine has it's own water heater, so you only need cold water in.

  • +1

Since have stock in its own website for $1,013 but Out of stock on eBay.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/feedback_profile/appliancesonli…

Some of the comments mentioned that seller cancelled order because of "out of stock".

  • Last one on eBay at 4:07pm, be quick. :D

    Edit: all gone at 4:11pm.

  • +2

Is it just me or have appliances gone up a LOT since covid? (feels like 50%+)
PS used to use appliances online all the time in Vic, sadly don't service Tas

    • +3

Blame it on the falling $

  • +2

Had this for about 5 years, has been flawless, only downside is 8kg is too small for us as king size blankets are too big to wash in it where as the 11kg washer it replaced had no trouble with it.

    • Did you go for an 11kg Bosch or different brand ?

      • previously I had a 11kg whirlpool, commercial one. At the moment I have the 8kg one as waiting for it to have a problem or until we move into new house to replace. I would happily go with another Bosch model at this point.

  • Paid $798 back in 2021
    Good washing machine

  • +1

I've had this since 2017 it got blocked once.. where the trap filter is, there is a hole in there I had to stick my finger right up in there to release a float/Valve that was stuck.. probably saved myself a few hundred dollars or the electrician saying it needs to be replaced.

Apart from that it has been a great washing machine gets used daily, due to having young kids..

  • Anyone get some water leaking out from underneath when running standard cold cycles? And a decent amount more leaking when running hot water cycles?

    • Nope.

    • Definitely not. Had it for years, 2017, 1-2 washes a day (reusable nappies and multiple kids).
Water heater did short circuit last month or so, $400 to repair, but otherwise is fine and no leaking.

Check connections but sounds like a faulty unit

    • +2

Check your filter on the bottom front right. I'd guess something is stuck in there preventing the pump from working properly.

      • Thanks, opened it up and a fair bit of water came out with it but not really any debris minus a couple of bits of fluff..gave it a quick clean and made sure the impeller can rotate freely (could before too from what i can see) fingers crossed!

  • Bought one of these in 2016 for $870.
Have flogged it and still runs perfectly.
Just have to clean the filter once in a while

  • +1

Plenty of common fix vids on YouTube if you search your model ,

  • +2

This is a fantastic model. For those not bothered by buying second hand on FB marketplace, keep an eye out. You do have to sift through a few second hand appliances dealers and crap, but the good ones come up fairly often. I've bought two so far in the last 12 months for $500 that are between 12 and 24 months old - you can tell by the number after the model number inside the door - ie /24 is more recent than /14.

I bought one from a family that moved house and the house they moved into had a built in Miele so they sold their Bosch - immaculate, no scratches/dents/rust and no mould. I then decided to 'upgrade' my parents older Samsung FL which was 9 years old (sell before it breaks), and picked up another Serie8 - 1.5 years old - lady had moved into apartment again which had one already there as part of her rental - again perfect condition. Bought for $500, sold the Samsung for $200 - can't complain about that!

I was wiling to take a punt on no warranty. These machines are so quiet and built well.

  • +1

Dam! paid $1300 for the 9kg iDOS ver. WAW28620AU couple of months ago. If only I waited.

    • +1

Think of how dirty you would have been, going a couple of months without washing your clothes!

    • iDOS is worth it though, right? I should have bought your version!

      • +1

Yes and no. I wouldn’t want to spend extra $400 just for idos + extra 1kg. I guess YMMV

        • +2

          This.

I have an iDOS 10kg model (needed a 9kg or 10kg model, but with 8 and 9 kg models sharing the drum size, my choice was limited to 10kg).i only ever wanted a non-iDOS version (WAX32K41AU) due to the iDOS failure complaints I see here but i couldn't get it discounted below $1650. Finally, settled for a WAX32K41AU when I got a decent price that lowered the gap to about $200 after some negotiation, bundling with a dryer, price matching and Bosch promotion. HomeConnect was a bonus and yet to be tested.

Early days, but I find iDOS handy so far and may make it worth the $200.

  • I have this machine. its fantastic.

  • I have this machine too purchased in 2018 - still going strong, does a great job! The spin cycle is so fast that my clothes dry after a day on the laundry rack even in winter, love it!

  • I'm never buying Bosch or Siemens washing machine again. Previously bought a fancy expensive one with all the bells and whistles to just have its motherboard die right after warranty lapsed. Found someone who fixes electronics and they told even if they fix it it'll burn down again quickly due to a design flaw in the electric circuit. Motherboard replacement (with no warranty) was same price as a brand new LG washing machine, so it was a no brainer what to do - chuck it in the bin. Never again. "German made" means nothing. Just look up the story of Berlin Brandenburg Airport.

    • Interesting read, though I associate Berlin with East Germany rather than West Germany.

I think (West) German products are great overall but of course you have exceptions, possibly like yours.

I love German cars but other than Porsche they aren’t that reliable. I still own a 17yo VW. Waiting for it to die, get stolen or written off before I replace it. Cost of repairs (say $500 a year) is much less than depreciation of a new car.

I wouldn’t have an issue buying Bosch or Miele whitegoods. Miele’s are well designed but overpriced.

  • +3

Bruh, I have had this for 2 years. Absolute weapon. Buy it. If I had 2 wives, I'd buy another

  • +1

Seems to be back in stock now… Albeit just 2 Machines available…if anybody interested!
Edit - ….And now its gone in 2 minutes after my comment.

    • +1

I finally got one after earlier disappointment woohoo.

      • +1

You are one of the 2 it seems :-D

  • +1

Good machine, but just literally had an issue =s

    • +1

Yeah, I've had two issues. The inlet solenoid broke, and was spraying water inside the machine. Then the same thing happened again. While it was fixed twice under warranty, the machine is still rusty and corroded inside from those failures. Don't recommend.

      • +2

        Is yours series 8?

  • +1

Back in stock 'Limited quantity available'.
Although coupon HGTSAVE has expired, I can see a redemption coupon of 100$ in my ebay voucher/summary. Thus price comes out to be 913$, bit higher than original deal, but still not bad.
I am not sure though, if the 100$ redemption code is targeted or everybody has got one. Check your ebay account.

    • Thanks. Nabbed one!

  • Have the larger 9kg it's been a few months and love it.

Only thing that's annoying is the timer. Rather than a start by function it has an end by function…which is just annoying.

    • This has a 24hr Start time.

  • One left for $911 with eBay voucher

  • I have this washing machine too, since 2018. Quiet, fast and tough.

My only issue is that it squawks at you with this annoying beep when it's done. That aside, Bosch is the sweet spot for price/reliability.

  • More available at that $911 price .
Tempting , but just a bit small to do all my bedding in one go .
Will stick with my 10kg LG front loader for now ,
and I’ll hope a larger size series 8 Bosch will go on sale one day .

  • Great price for a great machine.
I tried an Aldi one that lasted me about 3 months then bought this about a year ago. Very happy with the quality

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • Ouch I paid 1200 at Harveys. Shame on me.

  • Says the seller does not post to my address. I am in Sydney metro. How come?

    • Seems generic message to everyone. Even in Incognito mode, without location, it displayed same message.
Maybe they are using it instead of 'out of stock' message.

  • Got our order delivered in just 2 days. We used it 4-5 times until now & are happy with it.
SpeedPerfect mode saves considerable time when we are in hurry.
The high spin speed of 1400RPM is really helpful. Clothes are coming out with very low moisture and are drying up very quickly in open air or in our heat pump dryer.
Our earlier washing machine had just 800RPM which would result in bit wet cloths. That would mean extra drying time in dryer or in open air outside.

  • anyone managed to get extended warranty from appliances online ?

    • For free?

      • for additional cost..not free..

        • If it is paid, what exactly is the problem are you facing getting it?

Personally, I don't care for the extended warranty as the obligations under ACL are more than the standard warranty included by Bosch. With a bit of arm twisting they would attend to the issue with no or little cost if it is a major one.

          • @Krishg: no problem.. just for assurance as usually some maintenance maybe required after 2 years

  • also, can anyone share whether an official receipt/invoice from Appliance Online be attached ?

    • +1

Yes. They will send an email with official invoice.

  • Still available at $922 price using the eBay voucher .
Looking at Ozbargain history , they don’t seem to discount this machine too often .
Shame it’s not a couple of kg bigger but still ,
sounds like the Bosch can handle the work .

  • Now $918

  • Now $916

    Plus

9kg series 8 is $1234 with voucher from the same seller

I think the bigger ones worth it just for the ease of use ,
with bedding and not having to do so many washes ,
Possibly savings money on power and water .

    • 8kg and 9kg share same drum size. So if want bigger, go atleast 10kg.

      • +1

        Good point ,
but it’s all about the machine weighing the load to its maximum and the fact that the 9 kg has a heavier duty bearing to handle the heavier (not bulkier) loads , and besides there’s nothing else in a series 8 and bigger available on eBay at these prices .

  • Someone needs to post a deal for the 9kg i-dos version .
Sold thru the same seller on eBay ,
    use code SAVNOV23 for $100 off .
    Final price is $1233 .
