Meta Quest 3 Any Good?

My daughter has asked me a couple of times for Xmas a vr set.
I don’t know if there is very cheap basic ones i believe you add your phone, but these are not really be sets as such.

I was looking at Meta Quest 3 which has only been released what’s the chance of this being on a deal Black Friday?
When should the price start dropping on this lol maybe when edition 4 comes out.

I would not mind one of these sets myself lol but are they worth the money do you actually think you’re in the game sort of thing?
I have personally not experienced any be sets so not sure what to expect.

I see amazon sell the Meta Quest 3 who else does here as maybe better deals out there.
I’m only thinking at this time if daughter gets one for Xmas as last year she never got and this year it would be a surprise not that she has asked but I know it would go down well at Xmas.

You can spend heaps on accessories where you can add a case probably recommend yes?
Then it allows for different head straps to battery to some sort of cable, I can’t remember what the cable is for or its purpose but surely everything is with the standalone package.

I’m not sure what the previous model options was but this is only 128gb and 512gb
Was there not something in the middle which would have been a good choice.

Is 512gb really required? As it adds heaps to the cost I find the 128gb price point for a daughter Xmas might be better.
I do believe the 512gb cones with 2 free games? Is this for life or just to try?

How much are games on these to own or do you subscribe or do you never own such games.

The apple Brian set looks cool but that’s out of reach for most of us lol maybe one day it be cheap for us all to get but who know what like there device is.

But any info you could pass on would be great

      I believe the quest 2 has been as low as $400 plus but not currently though but they say they quest 3 is heaps better but then so is the price the 3 has just come out so very up to date.

    One of my kids got a Quest 2 about a year ago, and only used it 2-3 times.
    Got bored of it very quickly.

        Early teens.

        He got bored. Prefers other online games with friends.

    Hard to know if they will have one for the 3 this year or not but not long to wait and see.

    If a cashback site has an upsize for Black Friday, then it has in the past stacked it with that - reading the comments of the old deals will give a clue to what discounts people were getting.     Then it also gets whatever promo Meta has on the headset. I don't think the Meta promotion of Asgards Wrath 2 will change as it says offer ends 27 January 2024, so it seems to be the promo they plan to have through until January.

    If you haven't tried VR though, I'd either get a used Quest 2 off marketplace first, or at least go to a VR escape room or VR free roam place to try out a similar experience. Most capital cities have them, normally a different brand of headset but a fairly comparable experience.

    I use my Quest 2 all the time, but know a few people people who get bored quickly, or who just don't like the feeling / get sick. Marketplace has a pretty steady supply of quest 2s for this reason. I have been holding off on the 3 to wait and see if anything happens via Amazon on black friday, and also to wait for the reviews on aftermarket headstraps as I suspect it will need one to be comfortable - the previous models the stock headstrap has not been great.

      Yes the Quest 2 might be a low price and be tempting yet the quest 3 might have a deal as well just need to think about it and see what’s on offer.
      I just think the large gb version of quest 3 as much as it’s great to have it the current price difference is way too much.
      But again it might be on a good price Black Friday.

        Did you get anything? Didn't really pay attention but didn't notice any Q3 sales. Still 799 as per release.

          Yep the agent at Amazon needs some coaching obviously I was sort of he maybe was right and was hoping.
          So I go back on chat the other day asking where is notification of this sale etc they told me no such sale they would see this offer as well.
          I just in the end grabbed the q3 anyway, sometimes think q2 might have been good enough but q3 newer tech etc.

            @bwatt72: I see. I'm on the fence, since I have an old pcvr set. Sounds like the Q3 needs lots of stuff like straps too.

            Part of me says only two weeks left until Christmas sales.

            But then nowadays every two weeks they have an excuse for another sale

              @furyou: You would think these would be on some sort of offer to push them out there as it’s not exactly a price everybody is keen on.
              Myself kept going back and forth should I get the Black Friday deal with the gift card.
              Being told it was going to be on sale then to be told not was a disappointment and by end was pretty much no stocks you q2 well could order but when received anyone guess.

              They obviously wanted to push the q2 out but weird not the q3 maybe just to soon after it’s release but it don’t stop others from selling something new toy get some sells in at a slight lose.

              If there is any sale on it will not be that much but if there is I will be knocking on Amazon door lol on my story.
              As I took screenshots of the chat so if there is an offer surely they might refund any difference or provide a gift card etc.

              But I just got this feeling it will not be on offer as Black Friday was the day to do it.

              Even if q3 had a small offer on Black Friday I’m sure they would have sold a few as it’s the time of year everyone stocks up for Xmas on these deals.
              I’m not saying Xmas sales is crap but this is a Xmas gift so wanted to be sure I had it prior what happens on Xmas sales hopefully Amazon can help me out.

              Who knows if it is on sale be nice to grab one for myself as never experienced vr yet or just wait till next year on a better price drop.

                @bwatt72: Have you opened it yet? Because of change of mind returns until Jan 31, 2024, basically it's going to be that whether I buy from now til Jan 15 I guess. So should I just go for it now, or see xmas sales?

                Maybe too much Q2 stock, so no sales.

                  @furyou: Not opened it’s Xmas gift it will be opened around Xmas time so if no sales before then probably not be any as it’s the time of year you try and sell more, if it did drop after Xmas I still crack on to them about it but I’m only talking Boxing Day sales after that it’s way it goes.
                  If your patient enough I just hold off there will be one but when maybe this time next year with amazon gift card.

                    @bwatt72: I just got mine and it is a really hard to set up. I would advise you set it up before Christmas so that you can play it as soon as you open it. Otherwise there will be lots of frustration.

                      @furyou: It’s an Xmas gift to daughter and I rather she open it and I can then set up after that, it’s not the same me opening something as a gift to someone else as to them it maybe used.
                      If it’s a day or so later so be it im sure she can wait.
                      Why is it so hard to set up?

    Kinda got bored of the psvr after a month, the car games are good with a wheel but the tracking would always drift slowly and my head would have to twist to compensate. Was good but also annoying especially with all the wires.

    Quest 3 is more like a laptop, the AR is the big difference. It's like having 3 floating screens surfing the net relaxing on the couch. Has all the apps and the games which will be an experience, better graphics and tracking but I'm guessing I'll have gotten through and played most of them and they'll get repetitive. There is online play, no local servers and it's usually with Americans so it's not going to work to well competitively.

    Pocker is fun and kinda entertaining ridiculousness chats.

    But the main thing is the AR, just like a laptop I see myself using this for comfort, the hand tracking works quite well, swipe keyboard only let down is the voice to keyboard which will need an update as it doesn't seem to be accessable.
