    I brought a $500 Apple Card variable loaded gift card and tried to Pay with the active Visa card and it didn't work,

      That doesn't surprise me given the restrictions on Activ Visa gift cards at supermarkets:

      No more than $400 can redeemed from a specific gift card across any supermarkets in a calendar day.

      If one gift card is successfully redeemed at a given store, a second gift card can only be redeemed at the same store within the next approximately ten minutes if the amount redeemed from the second gift card would see the total amount redeemed stay below $400. This restriction is applied even if attempting another redemption through a different EFTPOS terminal at the same store.

      Try buying a $400 or smaller Apple gift card next time and see how you go.

        @VantageXL, @WookieMonster I just tried to add this card purchased over 24hrs ago onto my PayPal for use online but got hit with this error message. It's also the first time I've seen a bank/card actually decline an authorisation charge. Having said that, I followed the above method and waited 10mins and also refreshed my IP address to be extra safe and it worked on 2nd attempt in adding the card. FYI

    On Activ card, I was able to:
    - Pay health insurance (AHM); you can only use it via one of payment, GCs don't support recurring payment
    - Paid council rates as they accept Paypal via Auspost pay
    - Make strata payment via DEFT at a 0.4% surcharge, still a profit vs 1.5% on other credit cards.
    - Buy discounted Woolies GC via Rewards Gateway and pay on Paypal
    - Cards work via Paypal and Google pay/Apple Pay

          There is surcharge 0.44% for paypal payment on NSW service gateway, but I think there is no surchage for Au post payment in-person, however, it depends on the staff

    Two things to note:

    • Attempting to use a Coles Prepaid Mastercard as partial payment triggered an 'Item not allowed' error message (attempted twice with the same error message). I think this is new?
    • I was able to add these cards to MyPrepaidCentre. I don't think I was able to before although last time I was attempting with a Green card and now with a Gaming and a Petrol one

        Register on the side of the customer service island. If you're talking about inception with these cards, that isn't possible according to this (ShopBack Supermarket is also an Activ in the context of this).

    I'm pretty annoyed with comms to staff/managers around this promo. I ran into a supervisor today who simply said you can only buy 2x$500 (at the service desk) and although I kept pushing her to try (and the checkout process was fine) but out of their own caution - didn't let me tap the card at the last part and complete the transaction. Pretty annoying how staff aren't actually taught properly what is okay and what's not!

      Did you have a copy of the catalogue with you? Always useful to show them the terms of the promotion. If they then refuse to sell what is indicated in those terms, get their name and inform them that you will be making a formal complaint.

        I'm definitely going to report this particular staff for sure. I've been buying these cards since Wed, Thur, and today she's on duty and when I politely tell her to please try, it will go through, she turns into aggressive mode out of nowhere and says "do you work for Woolworths"? and a bit later down the line, say again "are you an employee"?

        All rudely questioning my understanding of the promo vs what they want to enforce onto me.

      I feel the same way.

      I've not been able to buy 2 X $500 but have been told of a $1000 limit so one card is $484.10. One time I asked for 1 X $500 + 1 X $499 and they said "alright I'll let you this time".

      How have others been about to get 2 X $500?

        I had 2 staff who tried to approve my purchase of 2x $500 cards.

        However apparently their code could only approve up to $500 in gift cards.
        I suggested to try 2x $499 but their code wouldn’t approve it.

        Nothing I could do, manager wasn’t in-store supposedly. So I only bought 1x $500.

        Will be back tomorrow …

          I've avoided dealing with all that by just buying one $500 per day. It's not really out of my way to go to Woolies, and I don't need more than 4 or 5 cards.

          I'm 3 cards deep and my Optus cancellation fee, my dad's rate installment and a third of my first quarter strata fees are paid.

          Do it at a self-checkout. Not all staff can approve 2x$500 at serviced checkouts but everyone can at self-checkouts. Woolies is really funny when it comes to gift cards.
          The only downside is that you need 4 approvals to buy the 2 cards:)

              @wutang01: You certainly can. You scan the first card, enter 500 and 1st approval.
              You then scan the 2nd card, and 2nd approval. You then enter 500.
              You can click pay and 3rd approval.
              You click pay by card (on a cash capable machine) or directly (on a card machine) to the 4th approval for eft payment of $1000+.
              Hopefully the checkout attendant isn't super pissed yet.
              Oh and hopefully both cards activated fine without errors :)

      I used the Luxury one at a petrol station. These descriptions are gimmicks to mislead customers. Imagine someone received the Luxury one as a gift and won't use it at normal retailers. The worst of all, (s)he may eventually lose or forget the card in the card issuer's favor.

          It can be used to buy Prezzee deal today after you add it to PayPal.

          The description (Birthday, Congrats, online shopping, Luxury, Travel&explore) is purposefully to narrow down your spend scope in order to retain fund for as long as possible (if not forever).

        For some reason both times I tried to buy 2 x $500 cards as part of this deal, the cashier (different stores) said they 'had' to process it in two transactions. Only the first cashier agreed to do it in one transaction when I showed them these terms. Frustrating to have conflicting information between the catalogue and the cashiers.

      Ring them 1300 101 234 and they should manually add the missing 5000 points over the phone, just explain that you tried to buy them in 1 transaction but the system wouldn't allow over $1000 so had to split them, they are usually pretty helpful and understanding.

    Hi, for this variable cards (ACTIV), what is the maximum spending allowance for gift cards at Woolworths per calendar day?

    Woolworths didn't process the spending allowance of $1000.00 ($500.00 x 2) but only $999.99 ($500.00 + $499.99). The company gift card is TCN.
