The S110 loses the GPS, so it's not necessarily any better, depending on your requirements.
Well, it loses the built-in GPS, however it has the option of getting the GPS data from a smartphone (connected via bluetooth). It's a little more inconvenient, but at least it doesn't lose it altogether.
Great price. I have it and have used it a lot. But in the last 9 months its visited the repair center twice. Also the warranty is not world wide (found out the hard way). This is not what I expect for a high end point and shoot.
$42 shipping!! Outrageous!
Do note that the replacement model Powershot S110 is now out.
Why is this a bargain? Same price at Kogan and Topbuy.
+1
Why is this a bargain?
Eg, compare feature-by-feature to Panasonic's -latest- compact camera:
It includes a GPS, excellent zoom capabilities (24-480mm in 35mm equiv.), etc.:
Cost: About Au$ 229 - DELIVERED - all the way from HK

because you don't buy a camera for features. you buy it for image quality
agreed. Canon take much better images than Panasonic
Image Quality -is- a feature…
And - before you believe your own faulty assumption - I buy for my -own- choice of features, not yours. :-)
Is that your own subjective judgment or whose?
(I'm not making any statements about who's best, here.
but I'd say your way of expressing your -opinion- seems
a bit 1-sided.)
Varies from model to model madge… I do agree that Canon is consistent though.
When I was looking for a camera a few months ago the OVERWHELMING consensus on review sites was that the S100 had the best image quality of any compact.
I agree though, that is a feature, albeit an important one for any sensible photographer.
Funnily enough, the S100 and the TZ30 are the exact two cameras I looked at recently when buying a new point-and-shoot. I ended up going with the TZ30 for the greater zoom and battery life, however the S100 does have a larger image sensor (1/1.7" vs 1/2.33"), and this (in addition to a few other things) contributes to its better image quality.
Here's a side-by-side comparison of specs, and you can look here for a comparison of image quality using dpreview's standard studio scene (you'll have to choose the S100 in the dropdown list yourself).
Lumix doesn't fit flush when you bring the lense back in it sticks out. Canon better. more compact.
$264 pulled me in but the shipping of $42 brings the price level back to the same as every other grey importer.
FYI camerasdirect have it for $349 + shipping (about $7) with manufacturers warranty
This dealer has it for $20 less than this "bargain"?
http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/digital-camera-canon-c-15_…
This dealer also includes shipping costs in all their pricing.. what you see is what you get… no sneaky hide the shipping costs…
Their free shipping is usually very fast as well, check feedback on WP and FB.
good find!
Is the warranty covered in Australia?
it doesn't include shipping on your link.
it's roughly $25bux with Fedex
Do these cameras have the option to use manual settings?
Yes
$3 cheaper than ebay if you use the code. This was just superseded by the s110 model with touchscreen and wifi.
