Govee Dreamview T1 TV Backlight Immersion Kit (55"-65") RGBIC LED Strip $135 (Was $169) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

130

All JB available Govee lights on sale, not at the best price on each product across the range but a decent deal overall.

Based on reviews, Govee seems reasonably bright with good power protection built into their controllers for extending the life of their products. Also cheaper in most categories to the Phillips hue lights that are out there.

Unless marked as Matter compatible you'll need to manage these via their own app only & some require a wifi internet connection. Only some of the devices work via Alexa / Google home, or in the case of Home Assistant some can be made to be controlled (if compatible, see below chart)

  • The Govee Dreamview T1 TV backlight immersion kit is regularly under $100 on Amazon.

    • Do you reckon it’s gonna hit that any time soon?

I know it’s not very ozbargain of me but my local jbhifi has this for click and collect today which has me super tempted lol

My guess would be Black Friday in November.

  • $139 on Amazon currently and that's with delivery. I paid about $109 if I recall for this about 18 months ago from Amazon.
    Great piece of kit IMO

  • I paid about 89 on amazon a few months back. The led strip was a bit long for 55" tv. Took a bit of fiddly mounting to make sure the excess was folded under the corner of the tv otherwise i had a shadow on wall.

Also the black bars in some movies are a pain. I ended up calibrating in away from the bars on movies and just left the calibration there. Couldnt be bothered changing back and forward

    Yikes,

Can get the genio tv light bars for significantly cheaper

    • Does the genio react to the tv display as well?

  • This is not a deal.

It has a camera kit with it to mirror on-screen colour.

Posted this because I wanted one but lots patience for the sales but just picked it up. Works well. Mirror speed is decent, I could see another kit being a touch faster, but we're talking milli-seconds so very very short delay. Bright enough for daylight, should be good tonight.

For what I want it for, I'm happy with it.

      • Ah huh, so that's what the camera is for. Looking at the JB images, it did not appear this way. Good find. I rate Goovee products. A family member has the following behind her TV and it makes a big difference to an otherwise dull/dark room: https://www.amazon.com.au/Govee-Backlight-Multiple-Placement…

        • Do they connect to the TV via HDMI?

          • @Trishool: Nah, no TV connection required. You simply plug it into the power point and you're done. Despite it being marketed for TV's, you can put them anywhere really.

            • @Maths Debater: Oh ok thanks, I thought it connected via HDMI and synchronised to what was on the TV.

              • @Trishool: That would be awesome because I don't love the idea of a camera hanging off my TV. But yeah, the light bars are simply custom colours. If you want synchronicity, you'll need the Dreamview T1.

                • @Maths Debater: The Philips hue play does exactly what you want - picks up the signal via HDMI rather than a camera hanging off your tv, but you pay a pretty penny to avoid the camera. Had our Govee about a week now can’t say I’ve paid much mind to the camera honestly. For the price difference I wouldn’t bother with the Philips option.

    • It does exactly that. Quite well too I have to say. If I can remember I’ll give my first impressions tomorrow morning about the whole kit I picked it up today.

Review - thoroughly impressed with this for the price. If you’re like me and were tossing up between this and the Philips box go for this. I don’t believe there ~$500 worth of improvement to be had. My only gripe is the camera mounting method. Literally two bits of(admittedly good quality) double sided tape on a right angle which looks like it was designed to sit on a CRT monitor. Absolutely horrible for mounting on any tv made after say 2010 lol.

All in all very happy and super easy to set up too. Money well spent.
