ISP Notes RE Coupons

a. Make sure to collect the coupon by ticking the "Apply coupon" box before checkout. Alternatively, you can add the product to cart and tick the "Apply coupon" box there. If you DO NOT see the coupon box, the coupon allocation has been fully redeemed. There is no actual code to enter at checkout – you must collect the coupon before checkout.

b. DO NOT UNSELECT PROMOTIONAL CREDIT AT CHECKOUT. Make sure you leave the "Use your $xx Promotional credit" box ticked at checkout. Amazon considers all Coupon discounts and Prime Exclusive deal discounts as "promotional credit". Therefore, unselecting promotional credit as part of your payment method will cause Amazon to remove any Coupon or Prime Exclusive discounts and thus charge you full price. If the you have Amazon-issued promotional credit in your account and the item you are buying is:

  • (1) Sold and shipped by Amazon, then Amazon will first subtract any relevant coupon or Prime Exclusive discounts, then charge the remaining balance with your Amazon promotional credit. You must pay with the promotional credit you have in your account, otherwise unselecting this will reverse any applied discounts as per above. Here's an example screenshot, where you see the coupon discount is applied (i.e. Your Coupon Saving), as well as the Subscribe & Save discount, and the remaining balance payment is taken out of your Amazon-issued promotional credit (i.e. Courtesy Credit) to complete the order (in this case the Order Total comes up as $0.00 - unless this deal post says free otherwise, it doesn't mean your order is free as you are still using promo credit, something treated as cash). If you do not have enough Amazon-issued promotional credit, then the Order Total will be the remaining balance that you must pay with a Gift Card or Debit/Credit Card.

  • (2) Sold by a Third Party Seller on Amazon, then Amazon will first subtract any relevant coupon or Prime Exclusive discounts (i.e. Promotion(s) Applied under Order Summary // or check below and see Your Coupon Saving), then you must pay the remaining balance with a Gift Card or Debit/Credit Card. Here's an example screenshot where despite me having Amazon-issued promotional credit, Amazon is unable to apply that to the order because Amazon is unable to apply Amazon-issued promotional credit to orders sold by a Third Party Seller. This means that even if you kept the "Use your $xx Promotional credit" box ticked at checkout, the sole purpose is to obtain the discount while your Amazon-issued promotional credit will remain the same as Amazon will not be using this credit to pay for the order.

hope this solar panel can be used with my Eufy non-solar powered (battery) cameras.

  • Does it record continuously or only on motion events? Can't find anything in the description…

    • Battery powered camera usually isn't capable of continuous recording

    • Record on motion 10s, 20s, 30s (chews battery).
      Record manually
Record to SD Card if no Cloud subscription.

Also has siren and/or white light upon motion detect (or just record)

That’s insanely cheap to come with a solar panel but a lot of these cameras only have 2M sensors in them. They aren’t that clear. But I’m all for Wifi but they all are 2.4GHz cause they know you’ll never get 5GHz through the walls of your house without having a mesh AP close by. There are some decent brands and I’ve looked at a lot at the $75-$100 range. Look deep into the specs but as said this was cheap but having a solar panel as well. Bargain. Just depends on response time or where you are going to store your video. Too many opt for cloud subscriptions. Nice 256 Max Endurance MicroSD card would be good, but reaction times and night vision are were some of these cheaper cameras fall down. As I read some of the comments - I see people bought first then realised how bad these truly are. If it’s a motion activated security you want 1s response time and if you are recording 24/7 then you don’t want it all in a cloud where you are paying anything from $3-$12 a month or more.

I’m looking at cameras for the back one for the side and one for the front, plus maybe camera doorbell. There are solutions available where you can store locally without a subscription. Might be a bit more expensive but this obsession with cloud storage and subscriptions on top of the camera, drives me nuts - it’s expensive and what can you do with the footage after the event?

it’s worth taking your time to look at what is available and 2M sensor at night not going to be clear, 5M sensor sure, but I’ve had a friend offer footage to the police and they didn’t even want it so sometimes you ask yourself if you have video evidence of a crime happening attempted or successful burglary- and the police say no thanks to the footage why did you spend money on the cameras in the first place?
They are supposed to be a deterrent but if crims go ahead and ignore them or balaclava over the face, even with full face shots friend tells me cops weren’t interested and he had spent like five grand on wired cans and a DVR -
if the insurance companies offered discounts if you have cameras then great. I’m hoping just having them will be a deterrent- but I hate hearing that cops aren’t interested In the video - because ultimately that’s what you want to record for, yes? Or is it just to create a deterrent?

Honestly I wonder when I hear stories like that is it even worth it. People stopped putting alarms in their places because neighbours ignore the siren and if it’s monitored, response time are too slow.

Cameras either have to be there as a deterrent because as I said hearing stories where cops aren’t interested in the footage makes me angry.

Why do we try to protect our property when the stuff you do doesn’t help much. They have to catch someone first and if they do your stuff is already sold. I’m in two minds. I’ve had deliveries stolen front my front door step and after 60 days the courier company finally says driver never took a photo of the delivery so you get asked, is there a camera, but if cops say that isn’t going to help we all need secure lock boxes to put packages in. I still get stuff that says signature required and it’s just left because the drivers are so overrun with deliveries they don’t have 20 seconds to take a photo to prove they delivered it. Though AusPost have gotten better StarTrack won’t leave certain stuff like a phone or high value items IF THEY READ the label. Like I said I’ve had stuff stolen. From my front door, cops will take a report, you might get a refund from the company who sent it or they might put it onto the courier. It’s a shit system and we are all debating cameras and only one company ever asked did I have video footage.

Thanks for your wonderful review / opinion

    • ipcamtalk.com

  • Yeah, sorry for the essay but I want cameras but why spend the money if almost no one wants the footage? Video doorbell or one fixed security camera aimed at your front door to protect deliveries maybe, but again, my personal experiences tell me half the time we are wasting our money, especially went so few actually want the footage. Four packages taken off my doorstep, no attempt to hide them, Amazon customer service either refunded or resent two, one from Telstra and one from Big W and I had to make daily calls to Big W for two months before they said courier company couldn’t provide POD.

Never going to deal with Big W online again after the crap they put me through.

Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions, I guess I’m a bit cynical and jaded. You don’t know until you actually have to make a claim who makes it easy and who makes it hard and why contract drivers sometimes when I’m home don’t even attempt delivery and next minute I find out they are at the post office. That really bugs me.

Cameras can be used for observation, detection and identification. You need specialised ones for each purpose.

      :)

Numberplate recognition is also possible as well as people counting, maybe even ID etc with the latest tech. Dahua or other prominent brands or go home.

      • Dahua is where it's at. I have facial and number plate recognition at my place with their cameras.
