  • Does anyone know of a Zigbee device that works with an AusNet smart meter?

    AU certified?

    • It’s got Alexa, she should be able to wake you up before the house burns down.

Good luck, technically, you need an electrician to install this as well.

      Heymix OK ✅

  • Can somebody explain purpose of this device? Is this only applicable to solar systems, or any energy consumption monitoring, etc…

    • No, this can measures any AC circuits including import/export.

That said, I'm just wondering what app is compatible with this one.

      • So could set it up to switch on hot water or charge the car when exporting over 3kwh?

        • No, it meters the power, not control.

        • Well, if you good at coding, you may be able to set up some logic using API

Can it measure negative figures..ie solar export?

    • I would say it does with "Bidirectional Two Way" in the description

      • I can't see anything about Bidirectional…

        • It's right there in the title
"Tuya WiFi 2 Gang 80A Single Phase Clamp Solar PV Bidirectional Two Way Energy Meter Mobilephone APP Control Current Transformer Schedule Timer Home Automation Device"

          • @Quarn: Couldn't see it for the life of me.
Tried again later and saw it. Cheers.

      • Question two…how would someone integrate this to do so. My main feed is 80A.
Guessing it would need to be on the main to get import/ export.

Are these safe enough for continual 50+ amp draw (or is it a 80A for a few seconds rating)?

        • Main supply does not go through the meter, it uses clamps around the wires to measure induction. There is a mains connection to power the meter itself though.

          • @Quarn: Ah cool. Does the wire need to be removed to fit the clamp? Or is it like a clip on clamp multimeter meter?

            • @tunzafun001: It will clamp around.

              • @Quarn: Awesome, and can use this as a 'Smart' switch. Ie. If more than -3000 watts (solar), activate a circuit for car/ hotwater?

                • @tunzafun001: [Catch Solar Relay] (https://www.catchpower.com.au/catch-solar-relay) is what you need for this. Not cheap, but if you're looking for a better way to manage solar power for hot water/car charging, these are awesome. I spend way too much time with the catch app (called Monocle) watching how it manages my solar.

                  • @dasher: Yeah, I'm looking for an 'Ozbargain' catch relay. Wont be powering resistive loads, so a simple on/off is fine (don't need the smarts that only gives out 300w to a 2100w element etc).

    • Looking for something that does that too

  • I was just in the midst of typing a message saying how it will burn down your house at 80A, but I was wrongly assuming it was doing whole-current measurements. With a CT, this isn't a problem and given that the current flowing through this device is very low, the risk is probably pretty low as well.

  • Hi Rep (or does anyone else know….)
does the zigbee version of this work "out the box" with basically any hub, or does it do a cut down "pretend" zigbee where it needs a specific hub?
    thanks
