Not legitimate LG and its specs are most likely false but $20 for a projector isn’t that bad.

Gonna give this one a go on the back deck! Not expecting much, but it’ll either be a good tester or a nice surprise :) thanks for the find!

    • Just wanted to follow up on this one. I set the projector up last night and it was OUTSTANDING for the price. I don’t even have a screen yet but watching it on our old yellow weatherboard gave us an almost drive-in like experience.

Possibly my best ozbargain grab thus for. Thanks for the tip OP!

  • -3

1280p native. Still at $20, can't ask for much more

    • +7

You mean 720p native. 1080p "supported"

      • -4

        Technically both correct. 720p is:
        720 * 1280

        • +1

Really? Let me sell you a screen at 1,000,000p:
          1,000,000 * 1

          • @edfoo: I'm not in the market for an RGB strip unfortunately.

If people read the listing they'd know why op said 1280p.

      • +1

Oops. Nice catch. Was meant to be 1280x720.

  • +12

Add one to the collection to maintain my OzB certs.

  • +5

Thanks, got one. Could be a waste of money, even if it is $20, but can't resist.

It's probably/possibly smarter to put the $20 towards a native 1080p projector, they can be had often for around $100.

  • Got one, i don't expect more from $20

      Not LG 大店

    • +1

Why 小店? Not 中店 or 大店?

      • +1

Why “little store/shop”? Not “medium sized store/shop” or “large store/shop”?

      • It's a phrase which not only means the shop is not in big scale but also has some meaning of self-effacing. In Chinese culture, you don't usually call your shop 'Big Shop'.

What do you guys use a projector for?

We have one, but also a TV. The TV is VASTLY superior, hands down, and so gets used every few years when we remember we have it. Our projector is a 1080p one from a few years ago, costed hundreds.

    • +14

Its the thrill of buying anything at a bargain

    • +7

Backyard movie night for kids then lock all doors.

    • +5

Yeah a junky non name 1080p projecter that cost less than a grand brand new can't generally compete with a most people's main TV.

But a projector that costs as much as a big screen TV and can do 110 inches does blow any TV out of the water due to the size, and if you spend enough (and don't try to use it with all the windows open in full daylight) even the brightness and contrast aren't far enough below the best OLEDs to make up for the loss in size.

Colour and motion and detail are as good or better.

    • +1

You haven't seen a good projector then

    • +1

Sport. My tv is not 130".

    • +1

Sitting in the pool, watching movies and sport in the backyard - bliss

    • +1

I like to DJ for my friends at my house and use it as a background for videos while I play.

    • Project movies onto the tent when camping lol

    • +1

I've been using a Viewsonic M1 for 2 years, price sitting on $999 now. Setting it up with a 100" screen makes movies an event. Getting a new blu-ray or downloading a classic film (black & white thematically and aesthetically looks great) for an experience that is more engaging. There's a 55 inch LG 4K TV in the same room, which is obviously brighter, with better colour, but it's not a mini cinema. A lack of cinemas near me justifies it.

The portability of the projector opens up the possibility for screening things anywhere and everywhere for large groups of people, with equipment that one person can easily carry.

Damn just missed out - Did I save myself $20 or will I have OzBargain FoMo for the next month ?? Tune in next week to find out.

    • Put your dunce hat on

  • +2

How does this $20 protector get 10000 ANSI lumens when larger projectors only have 4 to 5k?

    • +21

Through the lost art of unsubstantiated claims

    • It's called "lying" bro LOL.

    • I'd like to think honesty and an already low price would sell more - but big number must mean gooderer instead. Reviews and testing will always reveal the deception.

    • Forget the price tag, the only reason I bought this projector was because of the 10k ansi rating.

      • I can't find anywhere it says 10,000 ANSI lumens. There is a difference between "lumens", "led lumens" and "ANSI lumens"….

  • OOS?

  • Was just going through the checkout and it disappeared - now unavailable

Downvote me if you want but I have not came across that comment or the thread itself (I am relatively knew) - found it in my Amazon deal section. I checked several times if it was posted on the main page prior to posting this deal because I was certain someone may have found it earlier than me. But thank you for showing me that thread, I may post deals there now and have a look at the other deals posted there

Kudos to akte for amazing find - I think it deserved its own post on the main page in my opinion rather than in the insufficient quantity deal thread. It won’t let me edit my deal post description to include credits to him because it says I cannot change the store

  • Missed :(

  • Bloody me for sleeping and missing the deal, well it was cold night in melbourne.

  • +1

For those just getting into projectors its actually worth investing in a light reflecting screen. Sure you can use the wall or a simple screen, but it'll look washed out some, especially if it isnt completely dark. A reflective screen makes it look like an actual tv, even if theres some light. You'll know its reflective because it costs a grand or two. If you're going to projector, then projector properly.

    • +6

Anyone buying a $20 projector is not looking to projector "properly".

      • Unfortunately not. Thats just a standard sheet style that everyone uses. Check out '2C 100" Ambient Light Rejecting Projector Screen' on jbhifi just for an example. Then look up videos comparing stuff like this to normal ones side by side and you will just become instantly depressed.

        • Looks great. But it kills the main point of heading a projector for most. Cheap home cinema.
At this point, why not getting an oled screen?

          • @Jamie888: Thats the thing for sure. But you can always get a cheap home cinema buying some 80" hisense for $500. This lets you smash that 120" or so that tvs dont reach for the ultimate cinema.

  • dammit, ordered a unit 10 timesthe price las night ;-(

    • +1

Hey man, don’t even worry about it.

    • +1

And yours is a much better projector, at least native 1080p vs this one at 720p

    • worried that i missed a potential LG 10k projection (stacking 10 units) for the price .. :-(

    • $10 cheaper than last night (Lightning Deal)

Managed to get one earlier this morning. Will be interesting how it compares to my ust samsung and ALR screen…. lol

I think most people bought this when they saw the "LG"小店. Even though the product is not thing to do with LG. 😂

  • I feel like lots of ozbargainers are about to receive a box of stones to their doorstep.

  • +1

I bought a 1080p one from Amazon and it wasn't very good… Picture was too dark and the projector fan was too loud. When it comes to projectors you get what you pay for.

    • When it comes to projectors you get what you pay for.

Doesn't this apply to pretty much everything?

  • +4

Received and Tested. Looks pretty good. bang for the buck

  • +3

Wowee for $20 this is great. Plugged in, tested with a firestick and works great.

Kids are going to love this!

    • +1

I agree. For only $20 my kids love it. Cheap enough to take camping and not worry if it breaks.

      • +1

Absolutely! I’ve got a lithium power pack with a built in 300w inverter. Tested with this and worked great so will perfect for camping. Fire stick also ran fine off the projector USB port too.

  • This has already arrived - honestly, it's about as good as you'd expect a $20 projector (which is, it's not really that good). It's not USB powered, it powers off a 240v cable (so RIP camping/picnic options). Brightness seems 'ok'. Resolution seems 'ok'. My expectations were extremely low, and it pretty much met them.
No idea what I'm going to do with this thing.

    • Send back for a refund

    • -1

I'll Buy it for $10 :) Melbourne South East.

  • +2

Just got mine delivered. Took it out of the box. Put it back in the box.

Had a cuppa tea and reflected how amazing it is that a projector can be made in China and delivered to my regional house for $20.

I'm going to gift it to someone I don't really care for.

  • +1

For my needs it's amazing for $19. Watchng my 1080p tv shows.

  • +1

First one I’ve owned and for $20. Quite good. Only main complaint would be how loud it is -_-

    • My workaround to this is I connect to a bluetooth speaker and place it near me for better sound quality and away from the loud projector which made me feel like I was in a tunnel with a huge fan blowing my way or something

      • How do you connect to a bluetooth speaker? When i do on my iphone video and sound still go via hdmi.

  • Great for $20. Would anyone have a rough idea of how many ansi lumens, just wondering how this would compare brightness wise to some of the other portable projectors like xgimi or nebula
