[QLD] 2023 GWM Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid 4D Station Wagon $35,990 (Costco Membership Required) @ Autoreviewa

760

2023 GWM Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid 4D $35,990 (Costco Membership required). Availability based on your postcode.

Costco is now offering Cars. Was going to buy A Jolian This weekend, but now get a bonus by using Costco, so a saving of at least $2K plus can get gift cards. Not to shabby.

Im sure this applies to a whole list of cars, but as Im shopping GMV, this looked like a little bit more of a saving.

You need to make a $400 refundable deposit as well. Also seems cars based on location. My postcode shows only 6 brands, but Brisbane shows more options. Pickup from Costco store, which is strange.

Costco members will soon be able to buy discounted cars from the budget outlet as part of a new service.
The cars are available to Costco members online from website Autoreviewa and are available for immediate pickup or delivery at Costco stores.

The service will be available for all levels of Costco members in Queensland this month, while Sydney and Melbourne shoppers can use the service from November.

Executive Members who use the service will also be given a Costco Shop Card, redeemable for up to $600 in-store, depending on the price of the vehicle

What is the value of the Costco Shop Card that I can receive with my current membership type?

Costco Executive Members get a Costco Shop Card worth up to $300 for car purchases, and another Costco Shop Card Worth up to $300 for car financing. They can also get Costco Shop Cards worth up to $150 for motorcycle purchases and another Costco Shop Card worth up to $150 for motorcycle financing. The details of the Costco Shop Card promo may vary depending on the current promotions and membership types. Autoconnect is not responsible for issuing Costco Shop Cards. If eligible, your digital Costco Shop Card will be sent via email by the Costco Services team.

    amazing

    • +29

      In Australia

      • Yes, QLD only for now. But other states from november

      • -7

        staffed by foreigners

    • +2

Not many US or Aus (if any) car makers left.

Costco's been selling cars in the US for ages, often have one on display at the front just outside the store.

      • -6

They have coffins as well. Handy if you drive a Chinese car.

        • +5

The same could be said for a Korean car twenty years ago, or even a Japanese car 50 years ago.

          • +7

@t25: Or an American car a year ago.

          • -1

@t25: Not much choice now. But personally I would always go for a Toyota or Lexus but used with 160,000 kilometres on it.
Cheap and plenty of life in it still.

        • -1

          or KIA

          • +3

@thekensai: Kia is korean that t25 already covered.

Hyundai is also korean if you were going to try to add that next. :)

          • +6

@thekensai: Or Tesla. They can become a coffin and crematorium in one.

            • @[Deactivated]: Polestar for a viking funeral

              • @Dr Prepper: Didn’t know the Chinese did Vikings, thought they were more Mongol.

    • Finally we can stand on both sides.

    • +3

At least half our their stuff in store are from China so what's the surprise? The Chinese cars are here so if they can be bought cheaper, why not?

  • +30

    No thanks, I'd rather walk.

    • +3

They're pretty nasty cars but hopefully they put pressure on competition.

    • +17

I was picked up by a Jolion when I Ubered somewhere last week. And I have to say, I was surprised by the tech and features on such a cheap vehicle. The driving dynamics might be utter rubbish but a lot of people don't care about that, and for them, I can see how it's a great choice.

      • +4

most of these 'cheapy' cars have plenty of tech but as a car are utter rubbish, and the tech is unreliable

        • +10

No problem on ours. One year in

          • +2

@jefflang007: Also, #warranty, so not really a major issue

            • +7

@dwarves: 7 year warranty, they’re more confident than Toyota.

              • +3

@[Deactivated]: Right! Not only that, but I have a 2023 Toyota that requires SIX MONTHLY SERVICING!! Ridiculous.

                • @dwarves: That means it'll probably last a million Ks.

    • +9

Had one? Perhaps hold judgement. I have a Haval and it is fantastic value for the money. We looked at a million different cars and the Haval clearly came back as a winner, on many points. I’d happily recommend them.

  • +4

Will they sell the Tank or Cannon?

    • +3

I wish, I was also looking at Tank, but no one giving any discounts at all

      • Maybe once stock is flowing since they just started shipping

      • tank 300 thats probably the only Chinese car id buy, i wish it was cheaper tho, 52k drive away is still too much for a Chinese car, can you imagine if it was 40k drive away, they probably would sell like hot cakes

        • +3

Better priced than a Jimny lol
40k for a small Jimny or 50k TANK?

          • @sam cho: jimmy is not something i would buy for a DD. at least the tank got some swag in the interior i could see my self driving it.

    • +3

I'm waiting on a good deal on a Tank hybrid

  • +5

They should sell Skoda wagons so you have enough boot space for your shopping

    • +9

For the Gold Coast they are selling the following
      GWM
      Hyundia
      Jaguar
      Jeep
      LDV
      Mazda
      Scoda
      VW

      • What if any are the discounts from the dealer price?

        • No extra discounts for exec members, you get a gift card up to $600. So even if you get the $80K Jeep you wont get a full 2%, max is $600. That sux

      • +17

        This is actually funny.
Almost as if you created new Chinese car makers Hyundia and Scoda to avoid lawsuits.

        • I tried different post codes in QLD, and cant find any other brands. Anyone had any luck?

        • +1

          Like Roewe.

        • +13

Pfft. I know a genuine Panaphonics when I see it. And look, there's Magnetbox and Sorny!

  • Do they accept giftcards?

    • +12

better still can you pay by creditcard without incurring a surcharge. Imagine the points on a $28K purchase

  • +11

Can i return it after 5 years if my membership is active

  • +14

Awesome. The dealership model is broken.

    • +15

      Oh no….
How will I be able to get my over priced paint and upholstery protection, window tinting and extended warranty without a dealership?

      • +1

or pay extra for different paint. lol

      • The Googling ability is weak in this one.

        • +3
          • +2

@Techie4066: Not all extended warranties are equal. The worst and absolutely worthless types are from used car dealers. As most things, it's always best to read the PDS.

While I mostly agree with a lot of John Cadogan's views, he rambles way too much and can be absolutely misleading in his videos and loves to generalise. Take for example his video on novated leases on EVs. Absolutely misleading and missing critical information.

For me, I have used Eric extended warranty and have also used Audi's extended warranty. Audi has replaced a water pump and thermostat twice and replaced a creaking sunroof. Eric replaced my transfer case, bevel box, rattling exhaust, and my workshop had a customer have entire engine rebuild claim authorised and paid for by Eric at $11,000.

If you read the comments, there's examples of others who have made substantial claims as well.

            • +2

@NoApostrophePlurals: Yeah John Cadogan pretends he has no business interests / car maker bias influencing his opinion.

Reality is, he sells cars, and EVs and the dealerless direct to consumer business model, and EV incentives, threaten his AutoExpert business.

    • +7

Somebody please think of the ming moles!

    • Dealers are the one supplying the vehicles https://www.autoreviewa.com.au/

The Autoreviewa dealer network comprises the largest registered dealer database in Australia.

  • Wondering after sale services assistance.

  • +2

    They got EV’s?

  • +4

Can I get one from Alibaba for cheaper?

  • They're mostly SUVs, you can check what they're offering by entering a QLD postcode.

  • So dealers will match or beat these prices for sure ?

  • -1

@op You misspelled Jolion and GWM.

Regardless, this car is a piece of trash. Everything GWM is.

    • Tank300 is a good car.

  • +1

Based on my experience, returns at Costco were pretty easy…

  • +4

If any consolation, they do actually have reputable brands like Mazda, Hyundai and VW if you don't want the Chinese brands. Whether if it's actually cheaper than dealers is another story.

  • +2

    That's not a station wagon!

  • When WA getting their turn?

  • Surely this comes with lifetime warranty right??

    • I'm looking forward to their return policy

  • +4

The Jolion, an ideal vehicle for those upgrading from a Captiva.

  • +2

interesting 2 of the cars i have looked at recently are available but even after costco "discount" they still more that i got offered with a deal by the dealership lol
Example is the Tiguan all space 162 monochrome, brand new drive away offered was $55k, costco is 60k?

  • +7

"2023 GWM Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid 4D Station Wagon"

Even the product name sounds like an SEO-riddled Aliexpress listing

  • Definition of Station Wagon has changed 😔

  • +1

Is 4D to confuse people in to thinking it is 4WD?

  • Id go the h6 but still, the joilion has been proven to be pretty reliable.

  • Do the cars get delivered to home, with a tank of fuel?

  • +1

    "Piece o' sh*t GWM" on aisle 116.

  • if something something happens around Taiwan, spare parts might be an issue. Considering the "resale" potential, your depreciation would be around 5-6 grands/year.
    Hardly a bargain

    • +2

if something something happens around Taiwan, spare parts might be an issue.

Dude, if the Taiwan situation leads to a war, then spare parts for your car will be the least of your problems.

  • +1

A few weeks ago we bought a Jolion Premium for $25,800 (with a lot of haggling on my way to a Hyundai dealer to look at a Venue) Costco price is saying $28,490 for the same thing.

    • nice price. Is this in QLD?

      • Yes, QLD. I think I got lucky though- it was a new salesman who was really nice, it was the end of the month, and I literally did go to Hyundai to negotiate on a manual Venue for $25,000ish. So Haval had to come close to get the sale.

    • One review mentioned this

The problem is that out on the road, the engine and gearbox prove to be the Jolion's weakest attribute, with relatively poor fuel returns, sluggish acceleration, and a general sense that this is not a particularly good four-cylinder powerplant

  • I see the same price on their official website now.
