Aussie Broadband or Superloop for 250/25 and Why?

I'm currently with AussieBroadband and I have zero complaints, but I have noticed SuperLoop is a fair bit cheaper ($20 a month), even after Aussie have lowered their price on the 250/25 plan. I don't know whether to change to SL or stay with Aussie. I've read mixed reviews on both so, I'm wondering what people here think? If you've been with both, your input is especially welcome. I'm in the Wollongong area (northern suburbs on FTTP) and I mostly use the internet for gaming and streaming as well as everyday use. Thanks.

I hear ABB have excellent customer support. Best I have heard about any Telco

      Great customer service.

They do, but how often do you need support? Go with ABB if it's a new service and you might need to troubleshoot it. Switch to a cheaper one when it's stable ;)

I've been with ABB for years, and had no problems, but haven't needed their support in a long time.

      • yeah, I called ABB twice. Once to get off CGNAT, and second time to get a 20$ off for another 6mths.

        • They made me pay and extra $5 for a static IP address to get off CGNAT.

          • @Dogstar: Static IP is an option to get off cgnat, but I just called and asked to be taken off it.
Not sure if anything has changed.. this was maybe 1.5 years ago or something.

          • @Dogstar: Aussie BB allow you to get off CG-NAT for free.

            A $5/month static IP also disables CG-NAT.

    • Hahaha, the (fropanity) they do…

I called in today to change my plan for the upcoming rate hike to a plan that was getting a drop… I called in and was told I was 137th in the queue.

Once I finally got onto someone, she knew absolutely nothing about the plan changes nor the prices. She had to put me on hold to speak to a manager, who, incidentally also knew nothing of the changes, even though I got notified about it through their official email.

The only part about ABB service I can say that is good is that you rarely, if ever, have to contact them about anything.

      137th in the queue… FFS.

Well logically speaking cause of the price changes there would be a big influx of calls, so its not surprising that there would be long queues.

Not sure what you would be expecting otherwise.

      • The few times that I've had to call I never waited more than a few minutes in line. Since the app allows you to check status and reset the DSL port I haven't had to call them in a very long time.

superloop is as good as abb tbh

  • I changed from abb to superloop. 20x the speed for $20 more.

    • +2

It's kind of annoying I can't get a tenth of the speed for a tenth of the price.

      • You can in Romania. Women are Beautiful, Beers are Cheap. Winters are cold though.

Been thinking about moving there, struggling with the logistics of relocating my cam show business and transporting my Bugatti.

          • @MinecraftObama: Get on touch with Tate brothers for some pro tips around logistics, setup and how to bribe local law enforcement officials.

  • No issues with superloop, I have been using them since the beginning of the year and performance have been great! Can't say their customer support is the best, but its not too bad.

    • Do superloop have local Australian support staff, or is another shoddy off-shore call center who can only repeat a poorly written script at you in broken English ?

      • Superloop support and billing = South Australia.
Superloop sales and retention = Sri Lanka.

        • +1

          Thanks.

paying more for australian customer support that you call maybe once a year isn't worth the extra $20 or whatever

    • definitely.
I always find it strange when people go on and on about the aussie support, they must be grandpas who need guidance at every step of the way.

'Do I press this? Now what? Oh, I need to click confirm.. let me look.. looking… looking.. THERE IT IS! Confirm! I see it'

  • I wasn't even considering looking for a new ISP till they told my I was ineligible for the $20 off per month. The retention team did offer $10 my bill for 6months. What rubs me the wrong way is now with the NBN changes they are going to charge everyone $129 so this isn't even really a big deal. Was paying $149 with Aussie. Now $99 SL for 6mouths then $109. Still early days but no issues with superloop atm. If don't have VoIP linked or don't use it, try Superloop for 1 month if is sucks change again.

I like Superloop's service and their internet speed performance. However, I shall suggest you to stick with your current provider if you don't have any major issue. If you change your ISP only to save few bucks, that is not a good decision.
