Not the cheapest but I've tried most and very happy with Leaptel at the moment. Good foreign game pings too.

    • Yep, it's hard to beat GSL for international routing.

      • GSL?

        • +2

GSL is the network that Leaptel (and Launtel and Superloop, and maybe others idk) use for their international routing.

    Isnt this expensive..?

  • +3

It's crazy that any of this is considered a 'discount' for such mediocre speeds that are half or a quarter the price in most other countries. I'm paying $38.50 for 50/20 and even that seems crazy excessive.

    • wow which isp?

    • also interested to know

      • Presumably he/she is in another country, as they said.

  • Swapped from Aussie Broadband to Superloop 2 months ago; getting a better rate and faster speeds….
Absolutely no issues at all. Do your comparisons first :)

Aussie broadband were amazing till their prices went up and their upload speed went down.

Don't get how this is a deal.
Been on 100/40 for $80 for some time now

    • Which provider is this?

    • hi,, do you get 100Mbps continuously,, or its just a peek value and on average it is far less ?

  • -3

AB stole $80 from me and still haven't refunded me. I'm never going back to them.

    • -1

      AB stole $80 from me

Did you report it to the police ?

  • Why is this bargain? Other ISPs are offering much better prices.

  • +2

AB, I get it, you use Australian call centre and tech support etc, but really for home users, there just isn't a need to pay the premium prices, the other providers are just as good and so much cheaper.

Was on AB for ages, too scared to go to the other cheap providers, did so recently and have had no issues.

    • Their support is very good though. But agreed, much better deals from other ISPs out there.

      • +2

Yes it is, but just don't need support all that often if ever.

    • Agree - especially if you are on FTTP just shop around for the best deal

  • I would move out from them due to the price increase

  • +2

1000/50 hahaha. Always makes me laugh when I see how farked aussie uploads are.

    • Always makes me laugh when I see how farked aussie uploads are.

Then get 1000/400. ABB offer this too…

      • +1

They sure do! At the low low cost of $429/month!

In NZ same plan is $89.

Internet in Aussie is a joke.

        • -1

In NZ same plan is $89.

I doubt it's the same plan.

          • @jv: Yeah you're right, internet there is faster so it's a better plan. Lol

  • +4

As others have pointed out, this isn't a deal but their new pricing structure under the passed SAU proposal's (which kinda still suck mind you, since rather than getting rid of 25mb, and making 50mb the new 25, they're just gonna increase the price of mid tier plans - 50 mb's - and reduce the price for the 25 and 100mb plans, which is fine for a lot of us, but absolutely not fine for groups like my parents who dont need the 100mb plans, but the 25mb plans are too slow for both their streaming/usages).

  • +5

This is not a deal. This is a rip off in the name of better service! You wont need to contact the service rep most of the times, save your money. Even if you have to contact, other providers like superloop have definitely upped their service.

  • Aussie Broadband has excellent support and service. Never once had a outage in the 2 years I was with them. Had multiple outages during the 6 month discount periods when I churned between Tangerine & Superloop. YMMV but I found Aussie broadband worth the premium.

    • +2

Never once had a outage in the 2 years I was with them

I've never had one for the last couple of years with More Telecom nor with Superloop previously, so paying extra $$$ for ABB would have been a big waste

      • That's why I said YMMV. I've been happy with ABB in the past where I couldn't say the same for Superloop nor Tangerine.

    • +5

Outages from the NBN telco will still happen no matter whom you're with.

  • +1

Recently moved from More to Superloop after my 12 months discount period with More ended. Currently paing $85 for 250/25 plan for 6 months and don't have any issues. I can't see how this is a bargain?

    • after my 12 months discount period with More ended.

Did you ask them for a better price?

I know lots of people who had it renewed for another 12 months.

      • They came back with a rubbish offer. Can't remember what it was now but it was over $100. I laughed at the offer and ended it there.

With Superloop I'm also getting $99 cashback through SB.

  • Just got the email demanding more money, I already cut the headline speed the last time they tried to push up the price - so it looks like I'll be going elsewhere now.

Superloop looks sane (100Mb for the same price as ABB's 50) but I understand there is ANOTHER price rise in the offing, due to the NBN trying to rort even more money out of the consumers.

I wonder if providers will push new 6 month deals to try and soak up those escaping ABB?

  • +4

These prices are a ripoff, this shit is not a deal wtf.

  • I was willing to pay more for ABB's service anyway and now the plans I'm actually interested in (100Mbps or higher) are all dropping in price so it works for me.

  • thanks. moving to superloop for 6m at $59 for 50/20

  • Prices have gone up everywhere. Leaptel is having good offers. Aussie broadband service have really gone done recently not sure about every one but i was not getting good customer service. Superloop charges extra money for individual public IP, basically they use CGNAT services to opt out you have to pay extra

  • -1

instead of a discount on my 1000/50 can i please just have some first world upload speed

  • +3

    Looks expensive sorry

  • +2

jesus christ why is ABB charging so much premium on top of the wholesale price? surely keeping jobs onshore and speaking to AUS reps isn't worth a $30 premium ontop each month?

    • The wholesale cost is just the NBN part. They still have to connect to NBN.. provide internet carriage.. etc

  • Go with Tangerine.

Bupa customers get additional 15$ off.

    Coupon code on bupa portal.

    62.9-15=47.9

    • Hi, where I can find bupa code ! Also do you happen to have new customer or existing one can apply ?

  • +1

People seem to justify having ABB for their Aussie support team, but only once in all my years of NBN have I had to report an issue (was with superloop and did have to wait ~30min on the phone because my fttc box got blown up by lightning). I don't see any reason for paying a high price to be able to get aussie support once every 5 years+ years when I call. Recently moved back to superloop from Aussie post broadband and have been maxing out my speed on both.

    • Support team is all well and good - but not a huge deal for me. Typically the only time I call support is to cancel my service. I am considering it for their stable network though.

I'm with Superloop and the past 2 months have been pretty ordinary. Look on whirlpool and others seem to agree.

  • +2

just a heads up for people planning to churn from Superloop (and maybe some other providers as well) that you need to give 1 month's notice to end your contract. previously I just needed to sign up for the new provider, and the churn happened automatically. i got burned when i tried to do that last month, and i basically had to pay two providers for a whole month, which basically burned up all my potential savings from the churn. sigh.

don't be like me. read your T&Cs people!

    • Keep a prepaid cc on your account with only a few $ of value. That way no surprises. Learnt the hard way with dodgy Foxtel..

  • +1

I'm with Tangerine and all I care is value and static IP. Speeds has been pretty good. Still getting above 90mbps. So not complaining. Their contact centre responds to my chat messages overnight which I'm not so fussed. Just make sure the value is there for what you're paying!
Eg. I'm paying $49 for 100/20 but getting 92Mbps. That works out to be 53c/Mbps.

    • How do you get the 100/20 for $49? It's showing to me as 90. 70 for first 6 months.

      • It was the promo to switch from FTTP to Fibre.

  • There is another $20 off the two highest plans, I think you have to upgrade from a lower plan if current customer, or can be new customer but it makes it $109/month for 6 months for 1000/50.

    Offer ends 11:59pm AEST 31/10/2023

    Pricey.
Superloop is cheaper but their service is very hit or misss
1 didn’t send me the signup modem and accused me of not adding it to order. Emailed em a screen cap and they eventually sorted after wasting an hour of my time. They can’t sort out stuff on chat and keep asking u to call them.
2 login hardly ever accepts my password even. After a reset.
3 when modem finally arrived I upgraded to a faster plan as I finally could get over 100 mps but they charged me the full not discounted. Ember price. Msg them and got no response.

  • This is awesome. Thanks

  • +2

Fixed Wireless customer here. I can't go any faster but now I have to pay an extra $72 a year for internet that barely works half the time.

    • +1

Me too. The Fixed Wireless Plus Unlimited plan is going up from $79 to $85 a month. I also got mail from NBN the other day saying that they're conducting free maintenance and installation upgrades on our Fixed Wireless equipment sometime between 1 November 2023 and 25 March 2024.

"It is planned that faster download speeds will start to become available in upgraded areas form late 2023. Higher speed plans are anticipated to become available in upgraded areas from mid 2024."

You can check the list of suburbs that are in progress and ones that are planned here https://www.nbnco.com.au/residential/upgrades/more-fixed-wir…

Hopefully the plan that I'm on will get the faster speeds and they don't introduce a higher tier plan.

  • I am with Leaptel atm. Other than seemingly frequent outage notification, I am finding them to be the best out of the three so far (AB, Superloop, Leaptel).

How do I know this? This could be just us but my wife was complaining that with AB, video conferencing had more interruptions. It was much less with Superloop and rarely with Leaptel so far.

Also, when playing Splatoon 3, with AB lots of disconnections (NAT Type B) and I got penalized as the result. A few with superloop but none (and I mean none) with Leaptel so far. In all cases, CGNAT was turned off.

But AB had the best customer service followed by Leaptel even if I think their user interface is a bit archaic. Superloop was okayish.

    • What tech are you on? Unless it's FTTP, it could be a result of changes made by nbn in the network, weather and other factors. Just something to consider.

  • +1

Do they still have to $20 off for 60months for new customers deal? can't seem to find it on the site. If they do and this stacks with the lower price than $109PM for 1000/50 is a pretty sweet deal

    • Yep they do, see my comment above. Should stack as the email I recieved from ABB says that current discounts will be applied to new price.

  • -2

50/20 price in title… such coincidence it was left out

    • +2

The discounts only apply to 100/20 and above. I left 50/20 out of the title for two reasons.

      1. The 50/20 monthly price is going up.
      2. It doesn't fit within the title character limit.
  • +1

This is not a deal, this is a rip-off. Aussie Broadband is raising its prices. I bet the other retail service providers like Leaptel 🐸 are jumping with joy at the sight of the Aussie Broadband sheep. They might even offer them a baa-rilliant deal that will make them feel wooly warm and fuzzy.

  • Just signed up with More telecom. 250/50 for $71/m using CBA promotion

    • Link? How do I get this? I bank with Commbank!

      All I can find is:

      Fast Plus Plan
Suitable for larger households or heavy usage
Typical evening download speeds of 92Mbps and upload speeds of 34Mbps
Pay $76.30 per month (save $32.70) per month

      Superfast Plan
Suitable for larger households with heavy internet usage
Typical evening download speeds of 200Mbps
Pay $83.30 per month (save $35.70)
Available to FTTP & HFC addresses only

      • I got an email with a code for 40% off. Search the website, there was a deal posted. I think you can get between 30 to 40% depending on your banking services.

      • Link? How do I get this? I bank with Commbank!

You need to have a loan with them to get the bigger discount.

Effectively, you're not really better off as you are paying more for your home loan.

That's how they got the name More Telecom.

  • Hmm Superloop 1000/40 plan is only $109 and for first time users $99 for 6 months i know where i would go.

  • Belong raise price. I leave to abb. Abb raise price.

Abb is Pain in my hassholes.

    I cannot afford abb.

    Great success (naht)

  • The only utility providing decreasing my cost of living. Thanks ABB!

  • How is this a deal exactly? You can still churn around and get sub $70 for 3-6 months with other ISPs if you shop around enough. I mean I switched from MATES exactly because they raised the price and not allowed me to keep my old rates to Exetel and get 100/20 for 69$ for the first 6 months. Then the churning begins. I found Exetel CS to be adequate - nothing to write home about and a bit slow but at least they still resolved my issues. Speed wise it's been great too so no complaints from me.

  • +2

So for most people it’s a price increase, but for those who are not on a tight budget who can afford fast internet it’s a price cut.

    • This! Absolutely disappointing! The system seems to always disadvantage the low-mid stakeholders. Time to switch after more than 5 years with ABB.

  • One word: Superloop.

  • I had my mum on the 50/20 but it's a bit of a rip off now, what's an alternative provider I can go to that's more reasonable? She doesn't use it much it's just that the odd ball time when i go over and work there or I remote into the mediacenter to drop movies into it.

  • +2

Way out of touch with competition. They not the only ones with good customer service

  • I'm on a 25/10 plan with tangerine telecom. That more then sure my needs for wfh, media streaming, linux iso downloading, etc. What do some of you need a 1000mbps connection for? I guess if you live in a shared house worth friends, it could be necessary.

Maybe we can all start sharing internet with our neighbours and split the cost??

  • +3

Meh too expensive for an average isp

  • +1

To those saying ABB is a rip off, I think it's a matter of "don't fix what's not broken". 2 houses of ours have been with them since Gigabit came to our area and it hasn't skipped a beat. We've not had any downtime or dropouts and the speed is always consistent. We are now with Origin Energy which uses the same service and paying $134/m ongoing. Apparently, the only downside is that you can't remove CGNAT but I don't mind, doesn't effect me. I'm more than happy for people to leave and free up CVC in my POI lol.

    • CVC is being removed on 100Mbps and above.

      • Oh, so what will that mean for the consumer?

        • +1

Hopefully more consistent speeds and less congestion.

          • +1

@Twix: That's fantastic news, thanks for sharing! :)

            • @Maths Debater: Removing CVC means removing the one argument ABB fanboys had over other providers, meaning there is no need to go with ABB anymore for those who stay with them

  • I guess I'll ask this question here. What's the best ISP for gaming? I see many players having less than 5 ping in CS/Valorant. Most probably it's because of their proximity to the server, but I still wonder what ISP they might be using

    • Telstra without a doubt, they have the lowest ping times but good luck to you if something goes to shit.

      • I am with telstra 50mbps plan right now, FTTN I guess? I get around 17 ping in CS2

I have already booked ABB. Lets see what ping I get then

    • They’d be within the same state as the server, I’d take a guess and say any ISP would give them that ping on FTTP. You’d also have to have your router configured so you don’t get any ping spikes while people are streaming/download stuff while you game.

I don’t play either of those games btw, I do get 5-6ms on call of duty though. I’ve had the same ping with leaptel, launtel, future bb, telstra. Aussie bb and Superloop were absolutely shit from my experience. Might be ok if your POI has enough CVC but mine never got upgraded while I was with either of them (over a year each) and looking at their CVC graphs it looks like everyone on my POI would still be getting jitter and packetloss every night between 6pm - 1030pm

  • I checked Tangerine, Spintel and Tangerine website about their promotional offer, they all now said only valid for new customer. Only valid once per customer and premises. Things become harder to jump ship nowadays

  • Just got the email, says they will be reducing the price for 1000/50 PLUS any existing discounts will be honored. So ill be on 109 for the next 8 months or so :)

  • -1

What’s a reliable 4/5g service, for 25mbps ideally unlimited? Seeing nbn co hit low income earners is BS.

These prices are not great and especially worse when your poorest are paying extra then cutting it from the top tiers. Joke!

  • Considering moving to a cheaper ISP. Superloop prices are great, but I don't know about their stability.
Are there any ISPs as stable as Aussie?
