Samsung LED LCD 55inch (UA55EH6000) - $1099.00 (+Shipping)

190

Figured I'd share this with everybody here.
It is a dumb large tv, no 3d, no smart features, not super thin, but reviews were that the 2D picture is exceptionally good.

These guys seem to do quite reasonable shipping, in Melbourne I was charged $25.

Same Model Sells for the following at different shops:
Dicksmith: $1,596 (They said they wouldn't drop any below $1500)
Jb: $1258 (They wouldn't budge)
Good Guys: $1249 (Closest they would go was $1185)
Eljo: $1189 (They refused to price match because they said it was below cost)

Therefore I believe this is a bargain!
Enjoy.

Good buy for those in Melbourne…

  • Nice, only thing that bothered me when researching Samsung TVs was lack of enough HDMI ports (2 isn't enough, 3 should be minimum imo…) and power consumption figures were kept secret (a dealbreaker when you think how much a TV is used, maybe people have measured it themselves with a power meter but lack of transparency here put me off). I don't think too many people would be put off by lack of 3D or smart features…

    • I have an 8000series samsung and the only smart feature I use is the "allshare" . It allows streaming of Divx movies over the network . I've been able to get rid of the HTPC . It doesn't play everything but it comes close . 3D gives me a headache and I'd buy an LG with passive if 3D was important .

I remember doing some calculations and i'm sure many people online have also done similar calculations.
And in the end the conclusions are usually: Power Consumption VS Price Premium doesn't balance out, and it is simply better to ignore the power consumption and just go with features and quality.

E.g. don't just get LED TV for $3000 just because it is super power efficient, where as you could have gotten similar for half that price which is a Plasma etc etc.

Generally though, LED TVs are more power efficient as they are usually 5+2 Stars on the Energy Rating Tag.

Both of them don't have a REAL shop front.

Billy Guyatts, their Shipping is horrendous, Although they are based in Melbourne they charge $60 for delivery. No pickup is available for them so you cannot save shipping.

LineLink looks really dodgy, as they don't provide a business address or an ABN. They charge $75 for shipping to Melbourne.

      Exeltek allows pickup from Mulgrave.

      • I can vouch for linelink. An old ex colleague of mine in the 90's. Its his online business he has been running for more than a decade. Not dodgy, up to you if you think he is competetive etc.

  • The EH series have OK reviews: http://www.cnet.com.au/samsung-ua55eh6000-339340859.htm

Spend another $100 for a decent wifi enabled, SMART 3D TV: http://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-ua50es6200-series-6-50-ful…

    • Doh! Was planning to go for this one but it's 5 inches less

  • Anyone know if any companies that take the old TV away when they deliver the new one?
    I've got a Sony CRT 86cm that weighs 90kgs!!

    • Big Brown Box.

If the delivery address is in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Geelong, Newcastle or Wollongong you can request that our delivery team dispose of your old electrical item for free. Old electrical items being removed must be similar to the new delivered electrical item. This must be done at the delivery location of your order.

    • Dick Smith do, but there is an extra charge for removal

    • Chuck it on Ebay, pick up only, someone will take it and you'll get 10 or 20 bucks for it.

  • Got Binglee to match this price, perfect TV for my parents.

    Thanks for posting Iplau.
