    No stock in 15-20 stores around me for ANY of those three.
    Can someone list which store has these in stock?

    • +1

      Dupto / Bathurst / Steep Point WA / Wolfe Creek

      • +3

        Nice round trip to get 4.

    • Booval and Northlakes has stock in SE Queensland.

    • +2

      No stock in Melbourne metro :(

  • Wow that's cheap

    • +8

      Until you get the electricity bill!

      If you're able to, install a split system, will use 1/4 to 1/5 of the electricity of a plug in heater.

      • +13

        A split system is say $1k, at 2.2kw, 35c/kwh, 1/4th of the cost, saving 26.25c/kwh, you need to run it for about 3800 hours, or 150 days.

        Someone should check my maths. And I need to get out more.

        • Also, installation for split systems is at least $800. Tradesmen are exorbitantly expensive.

          • @RefusdClassification: When we had our split system installed they had four guys onsite for 1/2 a day. I don’t think $800 is a lot of money for that.

        • +1

          Yes installation costs $800 as per below, but in the long term, they make better financial sense, plus you also get cooling in summer.

          Since you are paying for installation, it's therefore important to buy a quality name-brand so it'll then last a long time. One of our units is a Fujitsu that's been in place since 2009 and touch wood has been amazing. It's used on the hot days in summer, but in winter it's a workhorse as the main heater - 6-8 hours per day, hasn't skipped a beat.

          • @placard: But then the maintenance cost, and repair cost when it breaks down, etc

            • +1

              @lesher: What maintenance cost? 10 minute clean of the filters every 3-6 months??

              A decent brand shouldn't break down.

        • I just had a quote for a 5kw Mitsubishi split system. Came to $6K with labour component $2560. You can buy a lot of expensive electricity for that. Furthermore heaters like this provide good personal spot heating without needing to heat a whole room. FWIW I'm using a Mistral fan heater to suppliment my reverse cycle unit. $20 from Coles. Have had it for ages and it hasn't caught fire yet

        • +1

          You got 3800 hours by assuming your heater would only be using 1kw/hour:
          y=0.35x+15, y=0.0875x+1000, breaking even at roughly 3750 hours @ $1300ish

          Assuming the output of 2.2kw changes the equation to:
          y=2.2(0.35x)+15, y=2.2(0.0875x)+1000 or:
          y=0.77x+15, y = 0.1925x + 1000, breaking even at 1700 hours @ $1300ish

          Therefor proving that we both need to get out.

          • @tubnauts: Oh, I get it:
            Let:
            CC be the total cost of operating the heater.
            PP be the power consumption of the heater in kilowatts.
            RR be the electricity rate (cost per kilowatt-hour).
            HH be the number of hours the heater is operated.
            II be the initial cost of the heater.

            The total cost CC is calculated as:

            C=P⋅R⋅HC=P⋅R⋅H

            To find the break-even point (when the cost equals the initial cost II), we set CC equal to II:

            I=P⋅R⋅HI=P⋅R⋅H

            Solving for HH:

            H=IP⋅RH=P⋅RI

            For a 1 kW heater, the break-even point is given by:

            H1=I(1 kW)⋅(0.35 dollars/kWh)H1=(1 kW)⋅(0.35 dollars/kWh)I

            And for a 2.2 kW heater, the break-even point is:

            H2=I(2.2 kW)⋅(0.35 dollars/kWh)H2=(2.2 kW)⋅(0.35 dollars/kWh)I

    Reviews are what you would expect for a $15 Clearance Heater..

    • +2

      parts of reviews

      Do not buy this product if you value your sanity and comfort

      .

      And lastly, it doesn’t heat

      • -2

        I prefer my heaters without the heat.
        So just s…for shitty.

  • +1

    Grabbed two in Warwick, Qld. They were in stock in other stores listed. My sons will thank you next winter, OP

  • +2

    review seems not good

  • +7

    Caught on fire, warmed the whole house up.

  • Would suggest people stay away from the Goldair 800w - weighs nothing and is crappy quality
    - more plastic used making an ice cream carton

  • MyDeal and Woolworths have these too but sold out.

    • +1

      Thanks for posting the deal I guess?

      • +1

        They were already sold out. As my comment said. Probably way befor OP posted this deal.

  • The reviews are pretty terrible. No stock around Melbourne anyway.

  • +1

    This will be no more efficient than any other standard heater, which is to say not at all energy efficient. 1:1 energy to heat. Though you can run it in fan only mode and it has tilt sensor safety shut off, so it might be safer than whatever you got now. But a split system heat pump is what you really want if saving money next winter is what you're after.

  • Not allowing to purchase. I guess out of stock.

  • +2

    my Goldair Select 800W caught on fire last time

    • Yep they are really crappy

    • Glad I didn’t buy the goldair heated foot warmer for $69.

  • Thanks OP

  • +1

    As expected zero availability around me

  • I bought it first then realised I purchased a Tower heater not a Tower Fan 🤣🤣🤣

  • So you aren't a fan

  • +4

    Managed to buy 1x through Woolies which sells through their marketplace from BigW. $10 delivery

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1074275301

    • Isn't shipping directly from BigW lesser that $10? I also see free shipping over $30 in woolies link

    • Order got cancelled and refunded

  • +1

    This or a HEYMIX charger?

  • @cooni
    Get both for a spectacular New Year in your home. 🎉

    Do not recommend this - after a few weeks of use mine developed a burning smell then flames shot out and it died, scorching the bottom of the unit and my carpet.

    Currently fighting with Target for compensation. May have to take them to VCAT.

      If it helps at all. I had a smallish mark from my carpet that were removed by a carpet repairman for $100. He cut a small piece from a wardrobe, replaced the burnt piece and then replaced a similar colour in the wardrobe… It looks 99.99% like the carpet hasn't had an issue at all.

      • +1

        Thanks. I'm about to get a quote for remediating it.

    • That sucks. Which model did you get?

      • Goldair 2000W.

  • Good price, however these are generally VERY LOUD!!!

  • The Goldair 2000W Convector heater cost $$$ to run.

  • +1

    Not sure why I bought it, as I prefer column heaters when not turning on the air conditioner. It doubles up as clothes dryer and tower warmer.

    Will probably just sell it in winter.

    Looks like Big W is out of stock, but you can still buy it through Woolworths marketplace, though no sure if it will get cancelled if Big W is genuinely out of stock.

    This thing is a piece of crap. Stopped oscillating within 3 days. Replacement from Big W quit on the first day. Got money back. Not worth $5 imho

    • Which model did you get? I managed to order the 2200W Ceramic Tower Heater

  • +1

    Yeah, was at a local bigw on Sun and no markdowns. Paid $15 for the smaller one that looked like it had been opened and returned. Definitely no markdowns then. Seems weird they would be marked down and deleted within three days. Does seem to be a pattern with Big W though.
