Deepak/Starbuy sent out an email last week saying that this week they were doing stock take, so they wouldn't be posting any 1-day deals during the week (so I guess they finished earlier than expected).

    • Oh word? I thought that was 2 weeks back so thought it was this week for super Deepak deals

      • +2

You had my questioning my own memory just then ("Did I lose a week of time?!").

But yes, double checked my email - that email was indeed sent one week ago. Hopefully some good deals next week then! :)

        • Could you imagine though haha would be the ultimate trip. Questioning everything hahahaha

  • +9

I really need this to sell out before I get home today, otherwise I will not be able to resist. What a deal.

    • +17

it would look good on you

      • +1

It's right on the edge of what my wrist can handle, but I love big watches and I cannot lie (and would probably wear it on a thin single pass NATO to minimise the impact of the long lug to lug).

  • +1

    That's your big boy.

  • Must resist

  • Nice op. Dammit ordered a G-Shock glide the other day, I'm thinking.. should I give that up for the swoopy 262khz movement on this baby?

Or don't eat for a month and wait for the snoopy mini pilot to come back on sale?…

    • +3

just put it on the credit card my brother, let it be future inamberclad's problem.

  • +1

i have the omega version of this with a metal strap, so i bought this with the leather strap. win win.

    • got a love hate relationship with leather straps - especially leading up to summer time again…

      • that's true. i guess omega for the summer, and i will mix it up in the winter.

  • +2

I'm trying soo hard to resist..

  • It's been a while I wore a real watch (moved to wear os from 2014). Bought it after reading comments. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

    • +1

report back when you get it mate, will be keen to hear your thoughts.

    Nice watch but not quartz

    • +14

A watch post isn't complete without someone bringing up the old quartz vs auto argument.

    • +1

But it is quartz. A high accuracy, high frequency quartz movement, to boot.

      • I own one and it is quartz.

        • That's what he said.

          • @WatchNerd: No he did not, he said:

            “Nice watch but not quartz”

            Your hubris is showing.

  • Very nice watch

    • +1

      sure is.
so is the sd1970 tho (not related to the deal but great watch and one that i will not shut up about)

      • I bought one and even though it cost me $100 or so, I'm disappointed with the date window not being properly aligned. It's just sitting there in my watch case. Not Happy.

The lume on it is amazing though.

        • +1

complain to the seller? might get a part credit or similar.

@muzeeb got a part credit for a cracked plastic packing case…which i thought was pretty good of the seller. Let alone a QC issue with the actual watch.

    Just purchased.

Been getting into watches recently and was eyeing a precisionist for the sweeping seconds movement.

Dream collection includes a GS spring drive and speedmaster. This will tick both boxes for now.

    • +3

      speedmaster

me: how nice would a speedy be?

wallet: what, the swatch one or….

    • +3

If you’re getting into watches, don’t buy stuff, just because! You’ll end up w it a lot of stuff you want and because you don’t have what you truly want you’ll just end up trying to get it anyway

      • +1

And don’t start building watches either. It’s so cheap and satisfying that you just build moar and moar! It’s dirt cheap…and addictive.

        • ooo how hard was the learning curve? i was gonna get into it mainly for interest and to help minor fixes on my own watches but have too many hobbies.

        • I second that. Bought a few but only wear a couple. Just make a raiz account like I did and put 5 dollars in there daily plus the extra rounding off and in a year or two, you'll be able to afford a decent watch. That's my plan anyways.

  • +2

I see the expiry's been fiddled with again.
@alvian the Friday one-day deals end on the following Monday @ 10am.

    • +1

      ill update

(TIL you can specify end TIMES for deals - haha i always just didnt read the text for that box…)

  • Never really tried on watches. Would this look fine on a male with generally smaller wrists (am trying to work on the wrists exercises at the gym!)

    • +2

How small we talking in inches (as in your wrist)…

      • I'm a strong 7 inches

        • 7 inch wrist is considered small?
i think you can just get away with it

    • +2

Hot tip: there are no exercises that will change your wrist diameter.
Forearms? Sure. Wrist? You're stuck with what you've got.

      • You could always put away a dozen packs of Tegel.
Outgrown my 2003 bar freezer, thanks OzB!

      • Unless you lose a tonne weight. But I guess that more about consumption than exercise.

      • I laughed hard reading the I’m working on my wrists at the gym comment

  • +1

So, is a feature of this watch that its second hand on this 'sweeps' rather that the 'tick' that usually indicates a Quartz mechanism?

    • +2

Yeah have u seen how buttery smooth it is?

    • Also in the listing it says that it’s quartz but hey

Also you may want to look at the JLC’s deadbeat seconds to check your assumptions

  • +1

Faarrrk. First the g shock deals then this. I must exercise restraint.

  • This is also the special addition so it's a great deal 😉

  • Nice to get a Starbuy notification and have it not be a Watch Depot post with OP dunking on Starbuy in the description.

It's been a slow week without the deals. :(

    • +1

      dunking on starbuy

      who was dunking on starbuy?

      • Rosebank.

Dunking on is probably a bit strong wording, he'd just mention how much more it was at StarBuy… just a bit triggering for me in the StarBuy drought… but I have faith that Deepak is cooking up something good for us.

        • +2

To be fair watch depot does bring the heat sometimes

        • lmao this is the most pathetic comment I've seen here. Imagine being such a huge fan of a certain store that you get triggered by… a cheaper price from another store jfc

  • +1

Just purchased for the old man. He's been eyeing this exact one for well over a year.

    Thanks OP!

  • A good deal. But can you handle 45mm? That’s up there.

    • Me to me: you’ll grow into it

      • If you can handle a Gshock, you can handle this bad boy.

    SHITTTER ALERT 🚨

  • I have this watch and love it … it is big though, so if you have a small wrist you might prefer the smaller version

  • I've said this previously on a different Lunar Pilot deal and considering how much these cost it should come with a mandatory warning in the post comment: these watches wear very large. 45mm case size is big by modern watch standards but the lug to lug is over 50mm which makes it fit like a lunch tray on most people's wrist. Definitely try to see in person and try on if you can.

    • Agree, I have an 8 1/4 inch wrist and it fits well … on a 7 inch wrist it us going to look like a kid wearing dads watch.

      • +1

Also depends on your wrist width too. I have 7" wrists but my wrist width measures 70mm so a lug to lug of 50mm is fine for me.

      • I have a 7" wrist that suits TWS at the same 45mm dial/52mm L2L and a Pulsar at 45/55mm which is my limit.
A 47/55mm is too much for me, and that's in a drawer because nobody wanted to buy it. But it's also a Curren.

There's a few factors at play. Aside from how broad the top of your wrist is for a given circumference, it's also the lug shaping.

  • +1

Couldn't resist this time. Where does everyone get their replacement/alternative straps? Would be interested in the stainless steel for this one.

  • Bizarre dimensions for this style of watch. Should be 40mm max

  • Gorgeous piece. But can someone explain to me the publics appreciation of 'Bulova'? I know nothing about them.

  • Quite tempted, but would prefer the ever so slightly smaller "mini", given this is more of a wrist clock…
