thoughts on the taste for double rich chocolate?

    • +3

Pretty Elite, although i only ever drink with milk

      • 100% Whey Protein Powder is just the name. According to the nutrition info Chocolate has 79% protein.

    • +3

It’s my go to and has been for years

    • +1

It's the only one I buy for years

    • It’s yum, even on water. And I’m pretty picky.

    • Taste great with water

    • Yummy i take it with milk sometimes I'm not even working out just for fun

      Bro, who hurt you?

        • +8

Isnt this primarily WPI i.e. not many fillers?

    • +3

what fillers are you referring to? I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the nutritional panel or ingredients

        • What are your thoughts on Amino Z WPI?

        • +7

Hey buddy, sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. This 'crap' fillers is required to maintain viable shelf life and doesn't affect the overall nutritional qualities. At least in the case of decent protein such as this.

      Post pics of physique plz.

      • Post pics of physique plz.

        Pants on or off?

      • And weights lifted on compound lifts also

    • +7

It’s literally a source of protein and that’s it. It’s designed to supplement protein into your diet if you find it difficult to hit your daily protein through diet alone.

    • +3

You're a melon. Do you think this is some sort of generic protein shake that has stacks of carbs, etc.? In a 30g scoop this has 24g of pure protein, and 3g of carbs to help digest and deliver that protein. You're not getting better than that unless you use Whey Protein Isolate, which is significantly more expensive.

There's no way you have any idea what you're talking about.

    • +1

I hate to break it to you, but if you haven't been seeing results I highly doubt this product should be the biggest of your worries with your routine

    • not sure why you got hard negged… I’ve been on a high protein and low carb diet (all natural products, none of the processed or concentrated) for about a year and the results have been amazing.

      • -2

not sure why you got hard negged

Because a lot of people have precious egos and they can't handle opinions that differ from their own.
I'm not a gym bro, but got a few mates that go hard, like actual competitions not just posing in the mirror and they agree with MeowMeow. Show me a professional coach that has done comps that recommends this stuff over whole foods.

        • +6

Anyone with half a brain would not recommend this over whole foods hence why it is called a "supplement".

          • +1

@GossipGoat: Knew a guy in old office that would only take supplements and soylent all day everyday… He'd receive his soylent supply in boxes to office every week or so 🤷‍♂️

          • -4

            @GossipGoat:

Anyone with half a brain would not recommend this over whole foods

So we all agree then. An Internet first!

hence why it is called a "supplement".

And most 'supplements' are junk. Which was MeowMeow's point.

  • What’s the expiry like on elitesupps and specifically this one

    • Should be far from expiry. Got a tub last year from elitesupps that had plenty of time left.

      • whats plenty of time?

I want to get 4 bags to use over the next 1.5-2 yrs

        • Stored properly, you can easily go past 12 months on the best before.

Prob shoot elite supps a msg and ask them to check the expiry on the specific protein you want.

          • +1

@nismo: thanks I spoke to them and they werent able to tell me anything on expiry, bought 4 bags anyway ✌️

        • 12+ months

4 bags is pretty insane though but you can always offload a bag or two on ebay/marketplace/guntree for sure if you can’t get through it

          • @exit: Lol its 2 for me 2 for my brother
            Should last us a year
            Let the gains begin =D

  • 100% WPI?

    • I don't think so. It should be blended whey as described.

      • Isn’t WPI superior. Why would i pay more for a blend when I can get 100% WPI from Aminoz.

        • Flavour and brand name.

Also ON has more consistent macros across flavours which makes calorie tracking more accurate.

        • +1

WPI isn't strictly superior, it's just purer protein i.e. less carb, etc. If 3g of carb (12 calories…) is going to make or break your diet, then you need to go for WPI. Otherwise WPC/Whey Blends are perfectly fine and usually cheaper per gram of protein.

The macro profile of Aminoz WPI is actually really similar to this. You might have 1-2g less carb per serving depending on flavour, and about 2g more protein. It's getting to negligible levels.

        • +2

WPI has lower lactose and is better tolerated by the gut. I personally only use Aminoz WPI. best value for product protein. used it for years.

          • @Bigredkeg: Eh that's arguable, price p/100g of protein content for their WPI ranges from between $4.03 for the unflavoured stuff to $5.63 for the Choc Malt (Assuming you buy 10kg + use the discount code), so not really cheap cheap. Surprisingly lots of the flavours they offer have actually got a lower protein content compared to the ON Double Rich Choc.

            • @Hawk Tuah: I'm a club z member and it usually sits around 38-39 for a kg. Not to mention they frequently have 3kg for 120 + 60 credit deals on here. I'd be curious to know of an Australian brand offering WPI cheaper?

    • No, Mix of WPI, WPC, Whey Peptides.

  • +4

    No whey!! :O

  • Works out to be around $30/kg after cashback (22%)

    • Will this work if you sign up for the 10% new user discount?

      • Also curious if the new user discount works, or the CASHREWARDS10 code that's listen on the cashrewards page for elitesupps.

        • When I was looking earlier today the code wouldn't apply to the items I had in my cart

  • no. But will they send the product? No dodgy business?

  • Thanks OP bought 1 and some creatine and $44 got instantly tracked by cash rewards!

  • I've never really being a fan of the taste of their protein powders.

There is way better protein powders out there taste wise, but this is probably cost effective.

    • What would be some better brands taste-wise. For the last few years I've been having MyProtein and I've never really been happy with any of their products.

      • +3

Check out R1 whey blend, their stuff tastes really good with water and it's even cheaper than this (at the cost of 10 extra calories)

        https://www.elitesupps.com.au/products/r1-whey-blend

        • I have heard the flavour of r1 is good but never used it.

          • +1

@lonewolf: R1 is owned by the original founders of ON before they sold it off, so the quality should be just as good as they are trying to compete with their own brand lol

I’ve tried samples of their cookies and cream, cinnamon, choc coconut and coffee flavours and they are all extremely impressive. I’m very confident I would take all over the AminoZ/myprotein equivalents.

        • +2

Thanks for sharing this. I wasn't overly satisfied with the taste of the AminoZ I had, so I am very keen to see how this is.

  • Tried local brands and got bloated, never happened with ON, weird

    • +1

Check out the ingredients that are put into the ones (that got you bloated) and com[are it to ON. Most likely than not, they would have put in extra ingredients. Then next time you can know what to avoid when buying protein powders or anything in general

  • Anyone know which flavours are good/popular (apart from chocolate as i don’t like choc flavoured protein)?

I’ve had vanilla ON before and liked it. Trying to decide between strawberry, cookies and cream and banana - leaning towards cookies and cream.

If I can muster up the challenge, I could do chocolate I guess (if it’s that good)

    • Cookies and cream is usually just really sweet vanilla, not really any cookies. You should find it ok if you liked vanilla ON

    • I've never liked the basic choc flavours from ON (double rich or extreme milk - neither of these ever tasted anything like chocolate or cocoa to me). Lots of people like them though.

I do like & recommend trying, if these flavours sound appealing:
      Choc Coconut
      Choc Peanut Butter
      Strawberry Banana

These are generally only in the 900g or 2.27g packs.
      ~30 or ~70 serves resp.

      • I've used the ON chocolate flavours on and off for years, no problems. Trying ON vanilla now, and finding it almost undrinkably revolting- I'm going to have to start adding chocolate powder to get through the 2 kilo tub.

        • I wouldn't normally buy vanilla flavoured anything, although I did have a Matcha with Vanilla WPI that was/is pretty good not made by any of the usual brands.

I tend to go for Chocolate (from any brand except ON, as stated above), salted caramel, banana, but mainly chocolate

  • Did anyone manage to get their Paypal payment option come up at checkout? It's listed as a payment option on their website, but it's not coming up for me when I was checking out. I don't transact with a site I never bought before without Paypal :(

If their Paypal account got locked because of too many complaint cases, even more reason for me not to transact.

    • +1

It was fine earlier today around lunch time, no idea if anything's changed since..

      • After some tests, it looks like the Paypal payment option disappears for me when I have Optimum Nutrition (these Gold Standard stuff) items in my cart.

  • Can anyone comment on the extreme milk chcoolate vs the double rich chocolate?

    • extreme milk chcoolate +1

    • Taste is subjective. I used to buy only DRC for a long time but now I prefer EMC.

  • +2

Can someone confirm that it works with CR cashback? Thanks

    • +1

      tracked within 5 mins

      • Tracking is only part of the way there though, this deal seems to auto-add a code into the cart, said code is not listed on cashrewards.

        ON-31OFF

        Perhaps
        @tightarse or @minita can assist?

        Special terms
Cashback is ineligible on the following:
Purchases using coupon codes (including influencer codes) that are not listed on Cashrewards.

        • Would also like to know how to combine 31% O.N. sale with 22% cashrewards and 5% elite supps acc

          • @justaname: tbh, in the current market, esp ON. These are half decent prices even without the cashback.

Sadly, not that long ago I was buying the 2.27kg packs for $60-70 delivered. feels like 2 years ago, could be longer.

Shelf price on the same thing now is $139.95

Even more reason to switch to getting more protein out of foods (which is what I'm doing), with some still coming from whey powders.

            • @nismo: Definitely some decent prices even without the cashback.

Ended up ordering a 4.54kg bag of the O.N. Extreme Milk Chocolate

              • Through cashrewards site for 22% cashback
              • O.N. sale 31% off
              • Added EliteSupps email for a further 5% cashback

  • Is it worth adding the easy protection for delivery?

    It looks OOS

  • Hey guys , anyone have much experience with elitesupps? did my first order with them recently. Came across a couple of issues. The main issue was 2 out of the 3 tubs i ordered , the seal was broken and powder had spilt out during transit. Thats a bad ratio, the other thing i found was at least with the one i checked thus far, it had no best before that i could find. I am wondering if the 2 that broke open are older than the third one that didnt break open and the glue had lost its potency. I checked everywhere for the best before but was not able to locate it even though it says the best before is found on the bottom of the tub.

Now it could be the brand i bought (emerald labs, i have never heard of or used that brand before, but they seemed to be quite common on elitesupps). I contacted elitesupps and while they do seem helpful, i was surprised to also hear that they recommend i pay extra for insurance (its a tickable option to pay extra for insurance) in order to not have any issues during transit otherwise they feel they are not liable for it. Now you can have that option but frankly i order a crap load of supplements, never had a single company ever tell me that if something goes wrong BEFORE i receive the item, that its my problem. Sorry thats part of their business and up to them to chase it up with australia post or the couriers they use. Saying that, its also not very common to have a seal come loose like that.

      https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-…

They have to refund you, cite ACCC and I'm sure they'll give in.

Also Emerald labs is Elitesupps' own homebrand so it is very likely that their product packaging was low quality rather than anything to do with shipping.

      • I was actually thinking maybe its their own brand the way the quality control seemed quite low and the way they were defending it. A bit surprised at how blaze they were about it all compared to other supplement companies i have purchased from as i purchase a crap load of supplements. I get the feeling they think i am exaggerating or outright lying , i guess its because its my first order (2 orders) from them. But that just makes me think if this is how they are and this is how their brand is in quality control then i am worried about the quality of the actual products i bought as well.

        • Yep, they design their prices to just slightly undercut known brands such as ON, while often offering a lower quality product. Just stick to known brands when buying from these brick and mortar stores, because if you want home brands companies such as AminoZ and BN offer much better pricing.

          • @exit: They have offered to reimburse me for one but claim since the other one that was also open, didnt spill as much, no need to reimburse it. Because apparently receiving an opened food item is perfectly ok plus if its already opened i cant store it for as long either.
