Nikon D3100 SLR Camera Single Lens Kit Black $550 @ DSE

80

Just saw this in the new DSE catalogue which starts thursday. Save $250 off the regular price. I've been looking at a cheap SLR and then this popped up.

  • Not bad a price, especially for local stock. Not to mention grabbing 500 Qantas FF points before DSE is pulled from the program.

    • This is true. Everything can be had cheaper from HK/Ebay but the potential warranty claims can be a real headache and having to post things back in the unlikely event of a fault arising. I don't use FF points but it may be of use to some.

The grey imports can be a bit risky with no aust warranty and virtually no consumer rights if there are problems… sometimes the savings are just too good though.
If you are travelling os and can reclaim your gst on aust purchased goods then that narrows the margin.

Never buy grey import lenses. Especially after market lenses like sigma tamron etc. Most of the time the auto focus needs to be calibrated to the camera body. This can be expensive. It is usually free for genuine lens.

Kogan have them for $419 plus delivery, sometimes they offer free delivery.
JB HiFi had them for $444 after a $100 trade in.

Thanks for the info. I needed some historical pricing information to gauge the validity of this deal. Therefore not the lowest price ever, but it is still a significant shaving off RRP.

The Nikon D3100 single lens kit was around $450 at JB recently when they had a trade in your old camera (even a $2 one) for $100.

Anyone after the D5100 single lens kit..? $595 Well worth the extra few $$'s over the D3100 ..
(australian stock with 2 yr aust warranty)

Grey import here D5100… $526 incl rapid delivery http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/-c-0/nikon-dslr-d5100-18-5…

Is it just me or is everyone looking to buy a new camera at the moment??

    • Thanks, iv been looking for a decent price for the d5100

  • what was the recent price in the d5100 with trade in at jb?

    • i dont know.. was looking at the 3100 at the time…
I wonder if JB will price match that D5100 at cameras.net.au?
It's in sydney and is not grey import.

  • I just picked up the D3200 from Kogan for $608 delivered. Second camera from them and I can't complain. If it helps, JB were also one of the cheapest for the D3200 when they had the trade in deal.

    • Twin lens kit with that?
