Quite a good price on these two Reolink PoE security cameras shipping from Reolink's AU warehouse with plenty of stock. Both cameras are completely identical except for the appearance. I personally prefer the turret/dome design of the 520A instead of the bullet design of the 510A as it's more discrete.

Featuring 5MP sensor with 2560x1920 resolution, PoE support, motion sensor, human/car detection, 18 IR LEDs with up to 30m night vision, inbuilt mic, IP66 water resistance.

If you don't have a PoE switch/injector it uses a power adapter and for storage it supports a microSD card up to 256GB, RTSP/ONVIF, FTP, NVR and playback/alerts through the Reolink app.

  • If only the two previous prices were repeated via eBay & Ali….

    • +1

I know right. I think they screwed up the exchange rate on Ali last time. Still better than what the reps try to flog.

      • Agreed, thank you none the less for your constant deals :)

  • These are a decent set of features at that price point.
If you’ve got a frigate based setup then it’s probably overkill.
Looks like a 4.0mm lens which could be a bit tight FOV for some people.

  • Does it work standalone via the app?

    • +2

Sure. Just needs power and an internet connection. If you want to use it locally without internet you can but there are limitations

      • Internet is fine. Just making sure its not like an "add on" camera where you need nvr to use person detect like features

      • I’ve paired other reolink models to the reolink HA addon where the camera was in an isolated subnet just fine

        • +1

That'll work too. Maybe too advanced for the average user of course.

      • ok, hands up, i'm still new to this - but i have bought a few cams from these deals (thanks, Clear!), and assumed they needed to be connected to the Reolink ecosystem via their DVR (which i havent purchased yet)?

        • They will work best with a Reolink NVR (auto detected and auto-added to the app + some advanced features etc) but they can also work with any NVR that's ONVIF compatible, including software ones like Blue Iris or Frigate.

They can also be used stand-alone with on-board SD cards (no NVR) and have the option of writing directly to an FTP server, or to Reolink's cloud service (paid subscription).

The motion/person/vehicle detection is done on-camera so it's entirely independent of whatever storage method is used.

  • would these work with hikvision NVR over POE using ONVIF?

    • Yes.

  • When selecting the camera, it seems they are mislabeled. The dome image is described as the bullet and vice versa.
Which to choose if I wanted the dome?

    • +1

510A is the bullet camera, and 520A is the turret/dome style. Hopefully that helps

      • +1

Yes cheers I know that but if you look carefully, when you select the dome camera icon, it is described as a bullet….and vice versa. The same in the checkout, once selected. There is no indication of model number at all. So which to believe? The image, or the description? I would hate to receive the wrong type.

  • If you buy 2, its $130 on Amazon

  • Thanks Clear, need to upgrade/relocate a couple of old D400s.

  • Can these cameras be accessed remotely?

    • Easiest way is by using the Reolink app.

    • Does that require any subscription?

      • +1

No, subscription is optional for cloud storage of recordings, but not required for remote viewing, alerts etc.

Alternatively you can store your recordings on an SD card locally, or on your own NVR or data server.

  • Hi,
    Newbie here.
First thank for your posting, Clear.

I don't have any security camera system.
What should I buy/prepare to power this camera?
Can I use wifi to connect the Internet for this camera? If not, what should I do to connect to the internet? Can I connect to the modem slot?

    Thanks

    • These cameras are ethernet only - no WiFi. You can plug them directly into your router's LAN port.

      They can be powered by
      1. 12v adapter from a normal power point (adapter not included in the box) or
      2. via ethernet cable using a PoE injector (also not included) or
      3. via ethernet cable using PoE-enabled router/switch or PoE enabled NVR

If you're starting from scratch and want multiple cameras, the best way is to buy a complete bundle of NVR + 4 x cameras + ethernet cables.

But you can run a single camera easily enough - just need to mount it where you can provide power and data.

  • Is it a good deal if I want to buy complete system?

    • That's a decent price for that kit - I've seen it as low as $540 at times, but it's pretty rare.
