is it a straightforward process to install TruNas on a single drive? Also I am running a QNAP NAS as a file backup unit only. Does TruNas work similarly to the QNAP operating system? Thanks
Dont have any experience with QNAP. But TrueNas runs as its own OS on a FreeBSD platform but accessed through a web interface. You can also have standalone programs running in it through "Jails".
Currently my TrueNas downloads "Linux ISO's", serves up media on Plex as well as where we upload our personal family media to it instead of the cloud. Its nice that you can take an old PC and turn it into a TrueNas server.
Not that complex to set up.
I think the 16tb at jbhifi with the 10% off going for $476.10 if a great deal.
Link?
Is this a home cloud?
shuckable?
You just reminded me to setup another TrueNas server to backup my other TrueNas server
