  • Thanks, ordered.

  • I bought the same one from JB. Mine died after 6 months. Back to JB Hi Fi for warranty claim. its been a month no reprieve.

You're entitled to go back to JB, but often times easier dealing with the manufacturer directly.

    • I went via the manufacturer to get a Return authority number through Philips. Amazon credited the account once they had that straight away … YMMV with JB though.

Any size recommendations for a small apartment with open plan small kitchen?

    • +4

The bigger the better 👍 otherwise even cooking a whole chicken is hard.

If you can hide it away off the bench size does matter … more crispy goodness for everyone.

Hey, I purchased this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787567 a few months ago as we are only a 2 person household. It arrived and it looked like it could have been a child's toy, so tiny! Ended up flogging it off on FB Marketplace for a profit once the Amazon sale ended lol.

I went into a Myer store and had a look at some to gauge the size and I'd say anything under XXL side for more than 1 person is too small.

Thanks guys. Settled then - XXL it is.

Of course the philips go on sale the week after I buy the instant air fryer

    • From what I recall, when i was looking at models some months ago, the Instantpot air fryer is the superior model anyway.
That said, I'm not a guru on kitchenware, so happy to be corrected.

  • How is this different to cooking in an oven?

    • +3

More efficient, quicker and often gives better results because of the increased convection. Also gives you options if you're cooking things at different temperatures (use your oven for one, the air fryer for another).

The 'better results' bit: I don't have this particular air fryer, but we use our rotisserie one for doing oven chips. Effortless and fool proof, and they come out crunchy. I haven't ventured too far into other uses, but really the consensus is that these really aren't a gimmick; they do a good thing well.

because it’s smaller than an oven it heats up quicker and uses less energy. an oven is 60 litres of space to heat , these are much less. i also have a breville benchtop oven, it’s 1/2 way between an air fryer and built in oven. not sure why it’s called an air fryer, it’s just a small fan forced oven, guess the marketing people though “if we call it a small convection oven people won’t buy it”.

      • Spot on! Don’t believe the hype about ‘better results’, but definitely more energy efficient for small cook ups (and no pre-heating required). If cooking in volume and over a long time (not heat up/cool down for only 30 min cook), a traditional fan forced oven is still warranted.
I’m very tempted to buy this for the energy efficiency when cooking for two people though!

  • Does anyone who owns this know if it can be used as a slow cooker? I can’t find on their website I’d it can or can’t. Thanks

    • +1

the temperature goes from 40c - 200c , so yes you could slow cook a roast but it’s a bit small so won’t fit a shoulder of lamb or pork shoulder and might come out dry….. that’s what your oven or weber is for. instapot is good for slow cooks, use it for pulled pork and pulled beef for tacos and burgers and stews, etc.

  • This or 9861 model.?

  • i got the target/Kmart branded 150 dollar ones (with rotisserie) with the 3 stackable mesh trays. how are those different to this?
i would like to know, does it cook faster or better?

    • I'm also curios why this costs so much more.

Is this out of stock? Can't seem to buy it.
