[Pre Order] $250 GC + $300 Trade in Coupon with Google Pixel 8, $350 GC + $300 Trade in Coupon with Pixel 8 Pro @ JB Hi-Fi

1260

JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will be sent out two weeks after order is placed online or will be available when collecting the device for in-store orders. Offer ends 12 October 2023.

$300 bonus discount coupon applies to Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro order when you trade in an eligible device via SquareTrade by 25 October 2023. This is in addition to the credit for your trade-in device.

For example, if you were to trade in a device with a trade-in credit value of $1:

  • Pixel 8 128GB $1,199 - ($300 bonus coupon + $1 trade-in credit) = $898 upfront. You then receive a $250 Gift Card effectively making it $648 (depending on what you do with the Gift Card).
  • Pixel 8 Pro 128GB $1,699 - ($300 bonus coupon + $1 trade-in credit) = $1,398 upfront. You then receive a $350 Gift Card effectively making it $1,048 (depending on what you do with the Gift Card).

May be a more worthwhile deal compared to the $250 Pixel 8/$400 Pixel 8 Pro bonus credit offer via Google Store, if you have an eligible device to trade in.

There's also a bonus JB Hi-Fi Gift Card offer if you pre-order both Pixel and Pixel Watch 2 devices in the same transaction:
- Pixel 8 + Pixel Watch 2 from $1,748 = $450 Gift Card
- Pixel 8 Pro + Pixel Watch 2 from $2,248 = $550 Gift Card

                • @G-rig: this time, pictures won't be able to fool pixel 8/pro, however with sungalss/mask/low light, face unlock won't work.

                  • @ce5himm: Yeah that's cool, during the day it works well.
Finger scanner works well enough now even at night for me.

  • anyone received their $250 gift card yet? I ordered online for store pick up thought the card would be given while in store but told to receive it later in email.

    • No, Just Wait

My dear, patience is a virtue.

These days nearly everyone wants everything quick quick quick & me first me first me first.

JB will soon land you a golden bar you are looking for my dear

        • Says up to two weeks on the emails dear
          Agree

          • @G-rig: Was a message for pgsheng

Point guard Sheng ?? Bball time
Into NBA perhaps or something else

We can wait up to 2 weeks for the $250/$350 jb gc.

For me, not in a hurry to buy anything mobile phone related at jb.

My crystal ball prediction would be 7-9 days after you receive your pixel in store or delivered.
Just rough guess… jb is sorting all those gc for pixel buyers at the moment. Give them some time.

As side note, the pixel 8 standard is the successor to my excellent pixel 5.
The form factor is very close. P8 is just a bit taller & gained a few grams.

Hope google return to the rear based finger print reader for pixels.

            • @milanoxpress: The rear fingerprint scanner was good, won't be coming back so have to get over it.. front one and face unlock works well enough now.

Did anyone end up cancelling the trade-in in the end? Do you get charged for the $300 off as well or just the trade-in value/egift card?
The only detail I can find is the FAQ section of asking for old device back which gave the answer: "Yes, but only if we haven’t finished processing the returned device. And, we'll have to charge your credit card for the value of the trade-in credit already issued."
Not sure what "trade-in credit" entails in this case.

    • Why not sending it back, seeking privately instead?

If our Returns Centre does not receive your device(s) within 14 days, we will charge the pre-authorised hold on your account for the equal trade-in value offered for your order.

So you will get charged the trade-in device value (in my case $375 for p7). You may have noticed the pre-authorization on your card already. The $300 doesn't come into it.

      • Found a family member I can gift the phone to instead.
I've also asked SquareTradeUP, but they're not very responsive. Haven't heard back yet.

  • WTF, I thought the pixel 8 was meant to not have curved edges - these AmFilm screen protectors from Amazon sit too large or something..?

    • yeah terrible. gonna try another brand.

let me know if you find a good one

      • Just paid 45$ at a place (screen fixed), they didn't have the tempered glass in stock/available yet but they have a machine that does the more expensive type ($45). Bit steep but didn't want to go bareback for too long.

Hopefully get a refund for the one star review on Amazon (if I return would lose the bonus TCB $5 lol).

        • ps. it's a Nano glass firbe film protector, suits curved devices.
Bloody annying as the P7 was a flat screen.

          • @G-rig: Is Pixel 8pro flat or round screen?

            • @huntabargain: I got the Pixel 8 not Pro, I read the Pro is flat, but didn't realise the P8 wouldn't be flat as well.. 🙄
              Others can confirm.

Will have to post my P7 back today - $375 seems cheap but fair, hardly worth the ebay fees and stuffing around to sell privately this time. Nothing wrong with it ha.

      • Find any protectors yet?
Went back to those screen fixed people, was hardly a good job for $45. They put another one on, but don't think it's even nano glass. It's soft and able to be scratched (with a fngernaill wtf. Will have to go back again, doesn't offer any crack protection. Or just get a refund.

  • Everyone liking the P8? Pretty neat compact size, some text can get pretty small but one handed operation is easier than the 7. Feels slighly nippier (but have the animations down to 0.5x). Pretty good like the 7, no issues. Getting used to slightly smaller keyboard. The screen size was better on the p7 but overall phone size better on the p8.

Find any protectors? This nano glass fibre film protector still isn't even perfect for $45, I didn't ask about warranty but should - still a bit of lift (perhaps the spigen case places some pressure too).

Didn't really need to upgrade/change but may as well for a tax deduction, could keep the $250 voucher for next year.

ps. Google are dicks for making the edges curved, the Pixel 7 was good.

    • loving the screen brightness and the compact size when out and about.

Missing the bigger screen when gaming though and yeah finding i'm not as fast typing due to smaller keyboard.

Might give the Pro model a chance next year or even the P8 if I get some spare cash.

I've found some apps have been buggy but it's more likely due to Android 14 and P8 combo rather than the phone itself.

Yeah not happy with screen protector. I will probably try that premium film from screenshield

      • Yeah agree with all that. Voice input to text is easier half the time, then swipe+ predictive.

Those look ok, $30 for a 6 pk of protectors, as long as they fit. Do you know they fit? Since these are curved will need to be a bit smaller and sit on edge of viewable area or case friendly.. or custom fitted.

May go back and see if these guys can do better, the nano is pretty smudgy compared to the AmFilm ones.

    • I used the spigen align glass screen protector. Can be purchased for $29 (inc. free delivery regular Auspost letter tracking). Also if you are on eBay plus membership, take a further $5 off.

This spigen one has black borders all around. I knew that & also used on my iPhone 11 Pro. Was decent quality, but chipped pretty easily. Single piece of sp is not worth 25-30 odd dollars. Would like spigen to include 3 pieces instead of just one with alignment kit.

The black borders hide the rainbow effect on the edges but intrudes very slightly into the 6.2 inch Pixel 8 screen. I haven’t measured it with a professional equipment but I am guessing between 0.3-0.9mm screen intrusion compared side by side to a iPhone SE 2020 without a screen protector on & I opened the same content to compare.
It doesn’t cut off letters on the far left & right side edges. I think I can live with it. Don’t want to waste money already used.

I also ordered a spigen thin fit case from pro gadgets eBay & still no signs of delivery initiated. Maybe they don’t have shipment from the supplier or could be they are smashed with lots of orders.
Pro gadgets eBay store is quick with shipping usually. They send it fast upon payment confirmation.

The P8 feels so nice in the hand. Just the right size & like the added heft. I prefer the the rounded corners of P8/P8P.

      • Interesting. That's not ideal either, 3 for $10-15 is the go l, just have to wait till they perfect them. I'll still go back and show them it's not perfect see what I can get. It's mostly ok and the edges curve and sit just under the case I think.

  • The loudspeakers keeps getting worse since the pixel 3xl hey.. guess it's reliant on you having an external speaker, like soundbars.

    • Yeah agreed, I think the P8 speakers are clearer but the sound doesn't seem as lively as the P7 sound

      • Hmm they seem good for general voice and stuff but terrible for music.

Has anyone received their gift voucher yet? 😊

    • Nah bit soon haha.
May keep it for next year's pixel 🙃

  • Anyone having trouble with voice assistant "Hey Google" not working? Anyone know any fix for this?

    • no problem here. Is it working sometimes?

Could be a lock screen issue?

First step is to clear cache and storage.
If still stuffed, I suggesting unintalling/removing updates and start fresh. . I had similar issues to camera and it seems to have fixed it.

      • Or just record your voice again

      • Tried so many different ways, still not working. Driving me nuts. Initially it had "Hey Google is not supported on this device" lol, I did something then I had the "Hey Google" option switch, but still the mic is engaged when I say Hey Google.

        • Hmm bit odd, just reset those apps and permissions, mine was all seamless, carried over from p7 and didn't even need to plug one into the other, picked up the wifi

    • There's an option in Settings to turn on/off "Hey Google" recognition for the phone, search for "Hey Google" in the settings search. I have mine off 'coz I have a house full of Google speakers that I talk to a lot. Instead I hold the power button down on my Pixel which has the same effect as saying "Hey Google".

      • Yea confirmed I check this, still no luck. A lot reddit users having same problem. I came from iphone, android is hard mannnnn…. so many settings to tweak, anw I ll stick to this Pixel for a bit

Still no gift voucher here. Just bought a TV on their click frenzy deal and all…maybe they're waiting for click frenzy to be over before sending 'em out?

    • Always been up to weeks.. just don't pick it up and see if you can use the voucher then.

    • Fkn vouchers, would prefer 250 off.
Next time be nice to sort out a voucher thread and pass them on at time of purchase.

  • Guys gift cards are normally sent on the last day of the "up to 14 days". Assuming we all picked up on 12 th, it should arrive on either 25 or 26th.

Anyone actually sent their old phone for trade-in, is there any update from the trade-in company? My phone was delivered over a weeks ago, but the trade-in order page still shows "waiting for order to arrive"

    • mine updated saying they received it yesterday. now waiting for them to confirm condition of the phone

    • Yeah all pretty slow. I emailed ST:

The pre-authorisation will be removed once we receive and scan your order.
      .
Our system shows that we have received your order and are waiting for it to be scanned into our systems.
      .
Our automated systems are designed to SMS and Email you as soon as your order is scanned and received at our facility.
We will be sure to keep you posted.

Should have just sold it for more.

    • Yeah mine was sent on the 17th as per Aus Post, but checking on Squaretradeup, says "waiting for Order to Arrive" :( bit worried as the 14 days is coming

      • I just received their email, saying they got it.

  • Bit rich ..

SquareTradeUP: Reminder to send in your device(s) to us for your order number: xxxx. We’ve also sent you an email.
We are currently away and we will be back tomorrow from 10:00am to answer your email.

Now it's beeb two weeks time since I picked up the phone. And I haven't got the gift card yet.

      Same here

    • Same here! Still waiting. I've message JB customer service and mentioned it will be today before end of business but it looks like it is already end of business.

Still waiting for my voucher for Pixel 8 pro that I collected in store 14 days ago. Emailed them a week ago and got a reply that it would be inside 2 weeks, and on live chat today was told it would be issued later today

Where do they get off, waiting for last minute. So frustrating.

    • +1

don't worry, you are not alone, it will come.

  • Gift card received!!

    • +1

      Same, email received.

      • +1

        Still waiting. Hopefully today.

        • Same. Still waiting…

  • check your inbox guys , gift card is arriving.
also interesting to see p8 trade in at jb is 128G/256G $650/$800, p8p 128G/256G/512G is 950/1000/1050

    • wait if I trade it in now, I can get $800?

hmmmmmm. i just got it but tempted

      • I think it should be 700. And you get JB GC, not cash.

        • oh true, yeah no thanks

    • That is interesting but a bit pointless, would have been good to have just kept the p7 (not sent back in).. but screw receiving more gift cards. Besides, what would you trade it in for lol?

  • Still waiting for the cg. Fking retarded. Why don't they just give physical gift card when picking up the phone. And how hard is it to email someone with gift card

    • What are you getting with it?

You get a physical Physical GC if you purchase instore, agree emailing should be a lot faster than it is (perhaps they wait in case people return them or something, who knows). Anyway should be today I reckon, got one early this morning.

    • Still waiting for mine too! Altho I only just picked up my phone 2 days ago even though I ordered it before the pre order deadline (not sure if that makes a difference… I still expect it 14 days after order date)

      • +1

No, it's 14 days after order completed, which means after pickup

        • Argh… Thanks for the clarity

        • I got mine and only picked up on the Monday or Tuesday after the release date

      • Its been 15 days after pick up for me.

  • Contacted customer service they said next week. I collected 12th

  • Anybody else still waiting for gift cards?

    • I am. Has anyone actually gotten their gc?

  • Has anyone picked up a 30W PD charger for their pixel 8/8 Pro?

Stil using one from PIxel 5 and earlier, guessing they are 18W or 27W.

The Google one is $45 but seem to have a $10 credit.

No doubt plenty of options on Amazon, Anker is usually a good go-to, cheers

  • Got my gift card in the email.

    • What getting?
Think I'll sit on mine for a year for the next pixel.

PS. That AI wallpaper seems broken, just crashes.
