    Jetstar? It’s a joke

    • +6

You mean ✈️ ⭐️, the son of Qantas =.=

      • +4

Qantas keeps Jetstar around, so that, in comparison, Qantas looks good.

        • +1

Exactly. Qantas keeps jetstar running to make Qantas look not super terrible.

          • +3

@duodeta: Failing pretty miserably then. If it weren't for its protected status with very limited competition allowing record profits in the face of record incompetence and customer grievances, it would be in serious trouble. As it stands, it's just trashed its brand and destroyed decades of customer advocacy. I hope it wakes up and turns things.

            • @Xizor: qantas should rightfully turn into the next holden - its protected status wont last forever

        • more like Qantas keeps Jetstar around as their role model.

  • +1

Is there going to be direct flights from Brisbane to Japan ever again .

    • +3

Fairly sure you can still fly Brisbane to Tokyo direct with Qantas.

      • Jetstar I think - JQ9 & 10

    • Yes, pretty much now weekdays; and every day from December.

  • +11

Very interesting prices , never had a problem with Jetstar, will def jump on those

    • +26

      Jetstar staff member confirmed

    • +1

yeah im thinking of vietnam with those prices. crazy cheap

      • +1

Same ! And a little tour in New Zealand as well. Good thing i just resigned from my job, can now enjoy cheap prices !

      • +4

Try vietjet, $165 to vn ;)

        • return? thats insane!

          • @perfectlydark: Not sure but it should be one way right? Cant be that cheap

        • +1

is vietjet better than jetstar? not sure why all the hate at jetstar, have they gone downhill that much?

          • +5

@yoquierotaco: Last time I flew with jetstar, they cancelled my first leg the night before my early flight, replacing me with a one-stop instead of my direct flight. Cool.
Then again they cancelled my second leg back in the middle of the night, again literally few hours before my flight back…
            Never again

            • +1

@Dealor: a good rule is never fly budget airline if it's a connecting flight

              • @sauce2k: Ah sorry, I used the wrong terms, I mean they cancelled my flight to and then my flight back on the same trip. It was not a connecting flight :)

            • @Dealor: That's absolute madness..

          • +2

@yoquierotaco: you are kidding with that Jetstar comment right lol i.e. "have they gone downhill"? Where have you been last 10 years lol

            • @sauce2k: I have used them sparingly before COVID for domestic flights. The only international flight I have had with them is to Japan and no issues there.

  • +10

was so excited until i saw jetstar

    • +2

Exactly! I am actually looking at November flights to New Zealand and was about to let my girlfriend know until I saw "Jetstar".

      Jetstar international, absolutely never again.

      • +2

Do you mind sharing what happened?

      • +2

ive flown jetstar to NZ 5 times, (latest being august), never an issue.

      • +1

        What happened when you went?

        • girlfriend happened :)

    • +8

Agreed!! Jetstar international never again. Had Japan booked in and they cancelled the flight the morning of the flight 30 minutes before we got to the airport. Cherry on top was the staff and service. Pay extra people you'll be better off!

      • +3

        That's terrible

      • -2

Pay extra people you'll be better off!

Well this would then require higher ticket prices to cover the cost, then you'd probably complain that Jetstar costs too much…

At least you have the choice of cheap options

        • +6

If the flight just ends up cancelled, is it really a choice?

          • -2

            @Jonzay:

If the flight just ends up cancelled, is it really a choice?

Cancellation rates are usually somewhere between 2-10% and delays are somewhere around 20-40%
So the choice is to slightly increase or decrease your chances.

      • Holy crap did you get an alternative or reimbursement?

        • +3

Yeah we got cab charge to and from home reimbursed because we got rescheduled to an 8pm flight instead of 8am.. But blessing in disguse was it was a Qantas replacement flight. But still lots of mucking around and time wasted.

          • @pr0d1gy: Sounds like a stressful time, was that a direct flight to Japan?

      • +4

I can rattle off countless horrors stories the same with Qantas. Paying more doesnt mean much. But being more selective which airline does.

      • Man I hope my Japan trip next month via Jetstar goes okay… they've slightly shifted some of the details a couple of times since booking, but still same day and mostly same times.

I've done Japan via Jetstar a couple of times over a decade ago when I couldn't afford full service carriers… never had an issue back then.

My worst experience has been a 9pm Emirates flight that was delayed until Sydney curfew… got cabcharged home, and rebooked on a 2pm flight the next day. Lost my whole layover plan in Dubai! :(

      • And here we go again this morning! Another Jetstar flight and another muck around with 0 communication. Sitting on the plane for 1.5 hours with no sign of leaving. I know some people have had experience with 0 issues but the average chances of Jetstar having cancellations and delays is too high and absolutely appalling!

        • Ive had flights delayed for hours with next to no communication recently (post COVID) with both Virgin and Qantas too. It just is what it is these days.

My best experiences have actually been with Air Asia, Scoot and Jetstar.

  • +5

this is only if your plane takes off right

  • any BNE > SG ? or only gold coast?

  • +4

    Jetstar? Good luck.

  • +1

Took JS to Seoul in April. Still suffering from PTSD of massive delays and wasted hours, non refundable hotel/transport/attractions bookings etc.
Happy to pay double, triple the price to avoid the stress

  • I had a flight from Adelaide to Sydney today. Just got told my flight was cancelled on my way to the airport. The replacement flights are mostly horrible. Only 2 direct flights to choose from, the rest will take 8-10 hours to get me there.

Now I am hoping my evening flight won't be cancelled again.

  • guys, its t&c on qantas website

We will do our best to get you where you want to be on time, but we don’t guarantee flight times or schedules and they aren’t part of our contract with you.

    • +2

      Qantas can get borked

    • +2

      What's your point?

    • T&Cs don’t exclude Qantas from Australian consumer law. If they cause a resulting loss, they’re responsible for compensating you

  • +1

ughh the actual dates i want are way more expensive so might as well pay ANA or JAL and get peace of mind/quality service

  • +2

Flew with Jetstar on the return leg from Tokyo to Melbourne via Cairns. Went without a hitch for me (this was in September).

    • Yeh my friend got effed up badly in Jan this year lol

      • +4

        How so

        • He was coming back from Japan and Jetstar cancelled his connecting flights, so he had to stay an extra night in Osaka, he then missed his Brisbane flight to Sydney. Jetstar couldn’t issue another flight until day after and it was announced at the last minute, so had to stay in Brisbane for another night. It was effed up

          • @sauce2k: Ugh that's rough. What a damn nightmare

          • @sauce2k: Did Jetstar pay for the accommodation? Did he get any compensation/allowance?

            • @kiitos: Didn’t ask him. Definitely didn’t pay for Japan that I know.

    • I remember flying to Melb via Cairns to Narita. Cairns was delayed for a few hours. This was prior to covid using Jetstar free return deal…. never again I'll use stop over Japan. Direct ftw.

  • No Adelaide to Tokyo? WEAK

    • +1

There never is, you can still book and you get a stop over in Mel, Syd, Bris or Cairns…

      • I didn't mean direct but yeah a stopover is to be expected, I was referring to "sale" fares.

  • Been with Jetstar before and never had a bad experience, is there something to worry about?

    • +2

There's a reason why their CEO kept apologising for their poor performance so clearly they know it's affecting a lot of people.
Of course there are outliers who are lucky enough to have good experience but it's a gamble.

      • I mean, I don’t believe I ever travelled internationally on Jetstar before, only domestically, that’s why I had no hiccups with them before.

  • +5

I know Perth is another country, so I understand why OP don't include us

  • -1

Any deal from Sydney to Manila? Around Feb 2024?

  • This? Or the Sing Airline?

  • +1

    Never flying jetstar again internationally.

Flight from Seoul earlier this year was delayed 3 hours to 1am. 2 hours after boarding we were told that the plane has a problem and our flight was cancelled at 3am. Took everyone 3 more hours to exit immigration, pick up luggage and transfer to hotel at around 6am-7am. By 2pm we still had no idea if there was a replacement flight so I just went with another airline. The only good part was that I was able to get my refund within 2 weeks.
