32GB "onQueue" USB 3.0 FlashDrive $20 Inc. Delivery

11

I think this 'could' be a scam.

SPREETS started promoting this deal early this morning, the deal goes 'live' after 20 units sold, and lasts for seven days.

Supposedly a USB 3.0 32GB for $20 inc. delivery.

You get to choose the colour.

Sorry for any errors. I am typing on an iPhone while still in bed.

    Thanks for heads-up.

    • Thanks for heads-up.

Thanks. Cheapest I had seen was $29 from Kogan. So I am a bit 'concerned' about this price throught a 'deal' site that takes at least 30% as a fee.

I not 'up' on USB 3 specs. So I don't know about the 54MB per second claims etc.

      • The standard begins and ends with 60 MB/s and 625 MB/s(5 Gbit).

Today's attempts at flash drives are simply laughable. ..Well, 90%.

        • addendum: not referring to A3's item; but "laughable" in the general sense of these manufacturers and slimy marketers' misrepresenting the standard.

closest I've seen in this bracket is the almost USB3/overseas S102 =21CAD.

Pictured is a USB 2 drive, I am calling bogus

Free shipping! It's 2.0 however I would bet that both both don't read/write over 10/5MB/s

    • They claim "Read/Write Speed: Up to 54MB/s Read & up to 30MB/s Write" and give a "Lifetime Manufacturer's Warranty".

    Brand: OnQue Digital

Looks the same as the USB 2.0 Strontium branded ones.

That website OnQueDigital.com has exactly the same whois details as the 'suppliers' website.

Perhaps it is a 'fake' site, only used to establish a false 'normal' selling price of $49.95 ?

    Good price, unknown brand.
Will stick with the companies that have a reputation to protect for my flash drives.
    Data loss = very sucky.

  • +2

So they lied about the Transfer speeds and interface, I will bet it corrupts data after 2Gb
    Buyer Beware!!!

Speed is very important to me when buying USB flash drives. This is advertised as USB 3.0 and I expect it to be fast but looking at some of the comments about the speed, it is a bit shonky.

After buying the Sandisk Cruiser Fit 32GB on the last deal with a dismal average write speed of 4.5MB I am very wary of such cheap drives.

  • Mmm I usually stick to 50c/gb. Thanks anyways :)

  • I think this 'could' be a scam.

so why did you post it?

    • "so why did you post it?"

Well, I wrote "I think this 'could' be a scam." It could also not be a scam.

One would think that one would be 'protected' by SPREETS and Australian Consumer Legislation - So, no risk of loss of money. Of course there is the time lost and trouble caused if they turn out to be fakes (2GB drives) and/or not be USB 3.0 drives.

      I don't know - take a risk and save some money… or… not?

As its not a brand name this is going to be very unreliable, especially at this price, also, is the capacity really 32gb, there are a lot of fake storage devices for sale wouldnt risk it.

Buy a brand name with good data reliability.

    • "is the capacity really 32gb, there are a lot of fake storage devices for sale"

Well they have sold about 70 units so far.

I guess we will know if they are fakes when the complaints start being seen.

delivery takes a month so by then everyone will have forgot about it

Spreets also had fake Gillette Fusion blades, and rhat sold very well, but the deal ended up cancelled, but i dont remember the details for the cancelation, we may never know the real reason.

I am often sceptical when a large number of purchases of a product are made.

    NOW OVER 200 SOLD

    SPREETS have re-issued this 'deal'.

They removed one claim of it being a "USB 3.0 Flashdrive".

    http://spreets.com.au/deal/Sydney/product/30632/transport-st…

Now it states "Transport & Store Your Files With Ease With a Sleek 32GB OnQue Digital Flash Drive for Just $20, Normally $49. Comes in SEVEN Great Colours. Features USB 3.0 for Fast File Transfer. Delivery Included!"

Before they stated it was a "USB 3.0 Flashdrive".

    EDIT:
Although the SPREETS 'deal' title has changed.
SPREETS still (falsely?) claim under their "Highlights" ->

"-No need to waste precious time moving your files around anymore- it boasts USB 3.0, ensuring super-fast transfer rates
-If you’re after some specifics: It’s downward compatible with USB 2.0/USB 1.1 transfer interfaces
    -Compatible: USB 3.0/2.0/1.0 version
-Read/Write Speed: Up to 54MB/s Read & up to 30MB/s Write"

Does appear they have merely shifted the prominence of that "USB 3.0" reference; and while determined to be misleading, a lucid reason to not bother with Spreets.

received it today, tested not working, only 64mb instead of 32g.

    • 64mb? lol

      better get your money back

i wonder if the retailer selling them is the scammer or they themselves are being scammed through drop shipping from china
